The location of this hotel may not appear to be on a very good street but this is overshadowed by it's real proximity to almost everything of interest, walking distance to most central sites, antiques, tango, La Boca, and the young, enthusiastic staff was a great attribute, the guests and the staff got together one evening and we had a wonderful evening together at a feast and songfest on their rooftop deck. A rare chance to meet people from all over the world who were all experienced travellers and talk to the wonderful Argentine staff and learn about the Argentine and their thoughts, a very pleasant opportunity. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I think it is best to start with the reasons to NOT stay here, simply because you shouldn't: - The music from the ground floor bar is so loud at night that it literally makes your bed vibrate, and ear plugs have no chance isolating the sound out! - The maid at this hotel has no idea what the concept "clean" means. The floor is dirty, and the shower has a red/brown layer of dirt covering the tiles and shower curtain. - The bathroom smells like sewage due to bad piping, and your bedroom will too if you forgot to close the bathroom door. However there are some positive aspects: - The two brothers working in the reception during the day and evening were very friendly and offered great service! - Location is close to important sites in this part of the city, but be aware that the surroundings of the hotel can be a bit scary at night. Conclusion: Unless all other hotels are fully booked, you should consider another option. The great staff (working daytime) at this hotel deserves better.

This hotel prides itself as being "safe", and it is. I thought it was more like a two star hotel than three, and possibly a bit expensive. The building is old, and the area is rather run down. But it is conveniently located, and the staff were very friendly.

the staff at the hotel was so kind and they speak english!!:) Very chatful and helpful. The hotel is just 25 m from boulevard 9 julio and not far from plaza dorego. The terrace on the roof is very nice and comfy sunbeds. Free internet all 24 hours. Breakfast is also good - if I come back to BA I will surely go back to Don Telmo.

service is excellent, people are so nice and helpfull, make you feel like home. the area isn't that nice, you feel quite alone at night and lots of garbages around. breakfast could be a little bit better but it's ok.

Very competent and friendly staff, good breakfast (continental), air conditioning and very nice building (internal). Location near center, unfortunately poor surroundings. Staff competente e amichevole, colazione continentale, ben accolta l'aria condizionata nelle camere (visto il clima), interni dell'edificio molto curati. Situato vicino al centro, dintorni non molto belli.

The rooms are bit noisy in the morning as people are walking in the hallway; there are no full length mirrors and very little counter space in the bathroom. But the staff was AWESOME! My second trip to BA

It is the wonderful staff that made our stay so very memorable. Marcelo, Luis, Alejo and Fernando greeted us everyday with great suggestions for exploring the city off of the beaten path, recommendations for restaurants and the best shopping around. The room was comfortable and clean. The hotel was a treasure found in San Telmo. We highly recommend this hotel and plan to return without hesitation.

I was very pleased with the Don Telmo and it's staff was very helpful. This is not a 'luxury' property but is great for active tourists who want to be in a historical area of the city. Do watch out on the streets, we had a run in with would be thieves on a saturday morning which put us on edge for the remainder of our trip. Hotel is in a great location to reach by taxi at night, easily found by all our drivers.

I stayed in Don Telmo twice for a total of four nights on a holiday in Buenos Aires. The strength of this hotel is the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Nothing was too much trouble for Alejo, Marcello or Raymondo whether looking up ferry times to uraguay, recommending restaurants, ordering taxis or keeping a bag for me between trips. I asked them to arrange for a remise to meet me at the airport which cut the hassle after the long transatlantic flight and worked very smoothly and cost AR$90. They offered a 10% discount on quoted rates of rooms if paying in cash. The brekfast was good for Argentina. The rooms are small but I found the location very central San Telmom, Ave De Mayo etc. There are alway people around so felt quite safe walking back even late at night. Minor quibble would be that the shower in my second room did not work properly. Also would not recommend to anyone with disability as the stairs are quite steep and there is no lift. That apart I would definitely stay there again if in Buenos Aires

The staff was very helpful. We need airco, because there is no window in the room, only an entrancedoor and the sun shines right in the room. The room and the bathroom (without fresh air) are too small. Near the hotel, people, together with dogs,is sorting rubbish, they collected during the day. In the hotel we felt safe and well.

The staff at the Don Telmo were very helpful and personable. The rooms are a bit cramped, but we were out most of the time. It provided us with what we needed most...a bed. It did not have things we normally don't use, such as a pool, in room minibar, and an in room telephone. The staff made a restaurant reservation for us by phone. It is not in the middle of San Telmo, which is about a 10 minute walk. The neighborhood may not be the most desired, but no one bothered us day or night. We were given a generous discount for staying a week and paying cash.

The best thing about this hotel is the staff. They were fantastic. I came back 4 times on my trip and they made me feel very welcome and were very helpful each time with assisting me on travel and general information about the city. It was like a second home. The free internet , great rooms and good breakfasts were a bonus

Compared with all the other solutions for accomodation I chose in the past, this is by far the best as for quality-price. Straight in the heart of the city, charming place, brilliant staff...who could ask more?

The staff was very welcoming and provided us with all information we needed about tango in Buenos Aires, as well as our special request to change to a room with tv and a ceiling fan, since we don´t like air conditioners. The location of the hotel is perfect for tango lovers because it is close to good milongas.

While it does not look impressive from the outside the location is good and the interior is great. Staff are amazing! So helpful, friendly and efficient. I recommend this property!

Good location (slightly dingy road but brilliant for getting to San Telmo and the centre), good staff, great character, and fantastic roof terrace! My only slight reservation was that there was no airconditioning in our room, and in the height of summer it was unbearably hot, even with the efficient ceiling fan. The rooms are also small, but we still really really liked the Don Telmo!

very dirty location, hotel surrounded by slums. can be noisy at times, far from the heart of San Telmo. Very small rooms, most without a window. Despite the fact that the staff was extremely frendly I would not recomment to anyone to stay in this hotel.

The neighborhood is a little tenuous, but acceptable. The hotel is beautiful. Air conditioning would have been nice.

I only saw the one room I stayed in (room 205). It was a small room (w/bathroom) with two twin beds, a night stand, chair, an armoire with a safe inside, a ceiling fan and a heater. I was alone and only needed a place to sleep, so the size didn't bother me. Annoyances: - There was only one outlet in the room and the lamp and alarm clock were plugged in there, so I had to unplug a device to charge my camera. - The ceiling fan was very noisy. To Don Telmo's credit, when I mentioned it, the issue was addressed immediately, but within an hour of me using it again, the problem returned - The shower was TINY A word about the area. As others have stated, it's is not in the best of areas, but if you stick to walking on the main avenues, you should be just fine.

This is a great hotel for people interested in experiencing more of the culture, lifestyle, and history of Buenos Aires. It is not a big name cookie-cutter chain, so don't expect luxurious, super modern accommodations. It is clean; the staff is courteous; and the price is good.

The faucet was leaking and they noticed and fixed it before I could complain. The hotel surroundings are scary at night, but there is nothing to worry about. The inside of the hotel is very as the pictures on the website.

rooms are very good, the common area is beautiful. The only problem is the price, quite exprensive. It's a real 4-star hotel (in Baires is not always expected. The location is good, near to san telmo and microcentro, even if the street in which the hotel is located id quite dark and maybe dangerous
