Galilei Hotel is located in the heart of the Old Town of Budapest. Located in the Pest area of the city along the right side of the Danube, the hotel is on a quiet pedestrian street just 140 yards/120 meters from the river. Some of the Hungarian capital's renowned baths, like the Gellért, the Racz, and the Rudas are not far away from the Galilei Hotel, and so is the central market hall, the biggest, oldest, and most beautiful one in Central Europe, as well as a popular attraction for tourists. Housed in an early 19th century building, the Galilei Hotel has welcomed the Austro-Hungarian emperor Franz Joseph I, who stayed here for a while in May 1885. The building combines historic charm with modern furniture and amenities. This hotel in Budapest features a café-bar, and a cozy restaurant, serving several Hungarian meat and game specialties. Free wireless Internet access is provided throughout the accommodation.

the worst of all, the room was not cleaned when I arrived, it was not a hotel, but only a room in an old building with appartements, there was no breakfast, everythig was closed even at 10 o'clock. A real disaster. For such a price I expected much more. The bathroom was O.K.

This is not a hotel...it is an apartment building. Good if you have no expectations as to a full serviced hotel, as it is well located in the pedestrian area around the shops and churches.

This is not an hotel, just a restaurant that rents some rooms. Nobody available, nobody to ask. Rooms are really uncleaned.

This is not a hotel. It is simply a room rental with shower but no service. No change of bedding, no internet (advertised!), no reception, etc. On the plus side the location is great and the price was reasonable. Very near the old market. The room was quiet, but a bit hot as the air conditioning control could not be found by anyone.

The 'administration' of this place was very awkward. We arrived at 10:00pm and as the door to the hotel was closed the restaurant manager said "hello, sit down and have a drink here...it's free. The hotel reception is closed but I'll get the key for you" but this seemed very strange to us. We wanted to check in and drop our bags and didn't really know what connection he had with the place. He found us the key but couldn't locate the remotes for the TV or the air conditioning and it was hot and smelly in the room. He made us pay that night but we still weren't really comfortable with him and his set up. There was no proper reception for the place we discovered the next morning, it's completely linked to the restaurant. When we went to check out on Sunday morning the restaurant was closed at 11am even although it had been open that same time on Saturday. They hadn't advised us this would be the case. We didn't have time to wait around so we had to take the key with us leaving a note. 2 hours later we got a phone call asking us to return with the key because they didn't have another key to access the room and clean it, but we weren't in the area and couldn't return at that time. That afternoon we made a special trip back to our inconvenience. The place is ok but the service isn't great and it's not clear what's going on. The room was clean but the drain in the bathroom constantly smells of effluent which 'hits' you every time you open the bathroom door. We wouldn't go back there.

THIS IS NOT A HOTEL. NO RECEPTION. IT'S ONE OF THOSE RESTAURANTS THAT RENT A COUPLE OF NICE ROOMS (WHICH ARE ABSOLUTELY NOT CLEANED). A DRUNK GUY WELCOMED US AND MADE US PAY IN CASH, TRYING HIS HARDEST TO RAISE A COUPLE OF EUROS EVERYTHING. GUYS, IF YOU HAVE A HOTEL IDEA DO NOT COME HERE. HOWEVER, IF YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY A REASONABLE 35€ LESS RISKING IT, THEN THIS IS YOUR PLACE. BEWARE OF THE UNCLEANED, BATHROOM AND THE DIRT IN THE FLOOR. IF YOU COME YOU BETTER GET ON WELL WITH THE DRUNKEN WELCOMER, FULL OF CHARACTER BY THE WAY. HE WILL SIT YOU DOWN AND TREAT YOU TO 2 BEARS AND WILL NOT GIVE YOU THE CHANGE!!. IF YOU ARE EASY GOING, OPEN MINDED AND WANT TO SAVE A LITTLE DESPITE OF EVERYTHING THEN HOST HERE!!. YOU ARE WARNED!! AND REMEMBER, GET ALONG WITH THE DRUNK GUY!!
