Not so clean as it should be, the rooms in the loft are very hot during summer and no A/C available. They had to fix the shower after I checked in, because it had no hose attached... Otherwise, nice location and surroundings, beautiful garden.

I loved this place. During my stay in Hungary I was at four different hotels or apartments, and the Helios was by far my favorite. It was very clean and comfortable, and the staff went out of their way to answer my every question. Whether I needed to figure out how to get around on public transit, find a train to get to a nearby city, or locate the best way to get to a pharmacy their advice was invaluable. In a few cases I had special requests that they were incredibly gracious about accommodating. For the final week of my trip I actually used it as my home base and took day trips to the cities I wanted to visit, rather than moving from one place to another, because I liked it so much. (And because I didn't want to drag my luggage around.) Obviously it's not in the center of the city. I preferred this because it was peaceful and quiet, and seemed slightly cooler up in the hills rather than downtown. It was nice to wake to birdsong instead of traffic. The bus ride into town is about 15-20 minutes.

Overall the hotel is nice, in a green and a quiet location. The furniture is getting old, you can hear the walk and the snoring of your neighbors. The breakfast was pretty thin. A few salami slices, tea, some cold milk for those who wanted to taste some cheap cereals. Frankly, I was dissapointed by it quantity and quality! Based on previous comments, I had bigger expectations.

The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. The location was easy to get to with a car and having a secure parking spot worked really well for us. It is a 20 minute bus ride (very easy to do and they sell tickets right at the hotel), so don't think you are downtown! I would high;y recommend this lovely spot to any of our friends.

This hotel is fantastic..The good points, friendly, efficient, helpful staff, fantastic location (although a long way from centre),excellent breakfast, clean and tidy. bad points,...as I said it´s a long way from the centre of Budapest the bus ride is 20 minutes uphill,Finding this hotel for the first time using public transport is very difficult I recommend using their pick up service. We only stayed two nights but would stay again when we next visit Budapest.

Our stay in Budapest was great thanks to the excellent hotel service. The receptionists on duty were always eager to help us out with any queries / requests. A special thanks goes to George who, without being at all intrusive, was always suggesting a better way to go about visiting the places my family wanted to see. The apartment allocated was spacious and clean and pictures on web site reflect the true furnishings. The buffet breakfast was ample and constantly being topped up. The coffee was great. The hotel is located on the Buda side. It is easily accessible by public transport. To reach hotel there is a 7 minute uphill walk which may be a problem for elderly persons. The hotel does not have an elevator which can be an issue when handling luggage. Nonetheless I would certainly recommend this hotel to a friend. Thanks again to all at Helios.

The hotel staff were excellently helpful and friendly. The hotel was very clean, located in a nice residential community but was a 10-15 minute bus tour from the city centre. The advantage is the surrounding is beautiful and nice, but travellers should take travel time into account if they prefer more convenient location. One shortcoming is that the wall between rooms was thin, we could hear voices from next room.

We stayed 2 days in Helios. The hotel is in a good location, lots of greenery, claen and spacy aparrtman for 4 person. Aparrtman on the top floor has a great view of Budapest. Breakvest very good and I liked the garden where we have breakfast. Friendly staff. Parking is provided, we went to the city by bus, bus stop is not far from the hotel. I will gladly recommend Hotel Helios.

We stayed in Helios Hotel on two occasions, once in a double bedroom and once in an appartment. Both times we were more than satisfied.Double bedroom is very spacious and clean and the appartment is so spacious that it is definitely convenient even for a family with children. You get everything as described on web. The staff is extremely professional, nice and welcoming. As soon as you come they offer you city maps, guides... If you come by car (as we did), the parking on hotel premises is included in the price and it is locked all the time. The bus stop is five minutes away from the hotel and in 15 minutes the bus takes you directly to the city center. The bus goes every 5-7 minutes and the last one from the city center is at app. 23:00. Breakfast is really tasteful and abundant. Hotel surroundings is nice.THey are nice places where one can sit outside when the weather is nice (there is a nice gazebo). There is also a nice park for the children Altogether we were extremely satisfied, we would definitely come again and we recomend it to everyone coming to Budapest, either on business or on a leisure trip.

This was the first time we stayed at the Hotel Helios and found it as an excellent choice. It is in a quite leafy location with a view down to the city from the balcony of our room. The room was big enough for the two of us with wireless internet connection. The hotel staff were helpful; they are definitelly an asset to the hotel. I definitely recommend this hotel to travellers who are after a relaxing place to stay.

This place was amazing and I am only sorry we did not stay longer. I was worried about booking something online, not really knowing what to expect as reviews are conflicting but this place was the best! It was cheaper and better than any other place we stayed in Budapest. I cant say enough good things about it, I have already raved about it to friends and recommended they go there and when I go back to Budapest I will definately stay in this hotel the whole time.

Hotel very welcoming, friendly staff and trained, not expansive. Breakfast plentiful and very good cleaning rooms! One of the best I've ever found traveling around the world. Recommended for families, couples of all ages and groups! The location is not central, hilly, but it is close to the bus and the tram station:approximately 15-20 minutes from downtown. 10-15 minutes by car. Go there without too much hesitation, you will be happy!

On our next visit to Budapest, we will definitely return to Helios. The charming property is well-located, in a quiet, upscale residential neighborhood, a three-minute walk to the bus into town. Our room was small but spotlessly clean and well-appointed, with a usable balcony. Competent, helpful staff; excellent breakfast; secure parking. After a day of sight-seeing, Helios was a refuge of gracious calm & comfort. Great for a short or longer stay. Good value.

My wife and I stayed at the Helios for a week in August '09. The Hotel was delightful, the staff helpful and well informed and most spoke passable English (we also heard German). Budapest was sweltering in the high 30s that week and it was wonderful to come home and enjoy the evening breezes on the Buda hills. The Hotel is an easy 15 minutes by Bus #8 from downtown and the Hotel provided the first ride ticket and hand written instructions to the Metro sales folks, in Hungarian, for a one week pass which was inexpensive and very handy. We quickly figured out the public transit system and our trusty #8 connected with most of the tram/metro and bus lines that we wanted to use. The staff at the Hotel directed us to a restaurant about a seven minute walk away that they said was just a simple Hungarian neighbourhood restaurant. We found the food to be fantastic and returned several times. Much better food than in the expensive restaurants in the tourist zones at a reasonable price. The wine and beer selection was limited but quite adequate. We would highly recommend the Hotel Helios for its fine service, quiet and comfortable location. Beds, showers etc. were all better than "good" and the quality of service was excellent.

It was a terrific stay! A perfect surrounding with a lovely garden (we stayed outside every day after the trips to the Formula 1 and sightseeing in Budapest). Very friendly and competent people at the reception. Super room. Very good breakfast. There is even a bus to the city center (ca. 15 - 20 min to center), we didn't use our car for going to the city. Everything was even better than we had expected! Looking forward to our next stay. Thanks to Agnes and The Team for making our weekend perfect!

This was our first trip to Budapest. We were grateful for the suggestion to stay a little out of the center of the city and use the local bus service. The access roads to the hotel were narrow but there was secure parking on the hotel site. We found the staff helpful and enjoyed an evening meal at a nearby restaurant which they had suggested. With limited time to see the city we made use of the 'Hop-on, Hop-off' bus tour. We would recommend this to others as it also included a one-hour cruise on the Danube.

My wife and I and our daughter had the most wonderful stay at the Helios Hotel and Pension. it's setting is wonderful and the staff excellent. Agi on reception when we arrived was exceptional. She is a walking, talking tourist information office! Do not be put off by the fact that the hotel is out of the city. It really is as described, just a few minutes walk from a bus stop and then a twenty minute journey into the city centre, with buses every few minutes. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds, in the Buda hills, very countryfied and much better than a city centre (noisy) location. The hotel offers exceptional value for money. We recommend this hotel to anyone planning to visit Budapest.

This is a small (I believe) family run hotel in the outskirts of Budapest. For 70 EUR per night we received quite a big room with a small kitchen facility and a bathroom with bathtub. Rooms, beds and the bathroom are very clean. Breakfast was satisfactory. They offered free parking. The only drawback is that it's not in the city center; we haven't asked for it but there must be a public transport or so to take you to the town. We were please with the service we received.

I found the staff at the Helios very helpful, although at times it was a little tough to communicate in English - but adequate. The hotel is in the Buda Hills - only a 2 block walk to the #8 bus which takes you into town in 15 minutes. It was not an easy place to find - fortunately, I had a GPS with me. For those without a GPS and a good map, it could be difficult. I suggest making sure you have good maps before you go. The surrounding roads are a little alarming in that there are dirt roads mixed with asphalt - but the hotel is in a residential area, with some very expensive homes surrounding it. The room was a nice size; the bathroom was ok -not crazy about the shower - a little dated. The breakfast was excellent, as was the coffee. If and when I go back to Budapest, I would consider staying at the Helios - great value and not too far from town. If I had plenty of money to burn or was only in town one night, I might choose an in town hotel - especially if I had no car (I had a car on this trip). Actually, I stayed at the helios 4 nights (3 on my first days in Eastern Europe, and then one night before I flew home the next day). Both stays wre fine.

This was excellent accommodation, maybe a little way out of the city but bus service excellent this did not cause much concern. We met English and and Australian guests and this made a nice atmosphere. Breakfast was excellent the staff were prepared to cook eggs in the style you wanted, and there was plenty of other choices to fill you up before you set off for the day. We ate at a little local restaurant near by only a short walk, food great and priced well nice to live as locals did. The only gripe was local dogs barking a lot, did not leave windows open much. This aside we enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others that it is worthwhile staying there.

Very nice, spacious and clean hotel, with a good view over the hill. Although it's not close to the center, and we needed to take buses for around 15 mins, we enjoyed the peaceful and natural surrounding of it. Although we had a sofa bed, it was very comfortable. This is a nice pension hotel located outside of the City on the top of a hill in a very nice neighbourhood. The City is easily accessible by bus number 8 (20 minutes ride.) We had an apartment which was fairly large and well equipped allthough we did not use the kitchen facilities. There was a nice breakfast every morning and the owner and employees all did a good job. Since the place is a bit hard to find, when you arrive by train or plane, I would recommend that you use their shuttle service in order to get there. Once there, you can easily use public tranportation to go where you want. All in all, a very agreable experience and we would go back if ever we are in Budapest.

A very good hotel with nice helpful staff. Buses run often and on time so 15min trip to city easy. Hotel booked us a private transfer from airport-recommend this for a first visit as hotel situated out of city in nice quiet residential area. Used public transport-bus & train-to return to airport, this was very cheap (530flt/2euros per person).

A ten-minute bus ride away from the city center, The Helios Hotel & Pension was everything I could have asked for - clean, quiet, and cozily nestled in the Buda hills where the air was fresher and cleaner than down in the city center. The service was impeccable, from being greeted with freshly picked grapes to arranging a taxi pickup at 6:00AM upon our departure. There aren't enough adjectives to describe the degree of excellence this hotel provided!

A little out of town and bus sometimes not on schedule, but it is worth it. Good place to eat nearby. Reception particularly helpful.

Staff is really good and service is good as well. Never seen staff so kind and available for all you need. The only problem is that the hotel is really far from the city center. To reach the city center you need to take one bus (or walk for 15 min), one tram and the metro. Staff is available to explain to you hot to get to the city center. Bye bye

Very good *** value. Average size room with balcony. Located outside town in hilly residential area. Short walk and 15 minute bus ride to town center area. Trams close by to other areas. Helpful staff. Wireless internet in room. Good breakfast. In summer, hot in room / fan provided. We took minibus from airport / cab to train station: both acceptable. Generous discount for paying in cash. Two local restaurants. We ate in furthest one. Good reasonably priced food.

Fantastic, welcoming family who run the hotel who cannot do enough for you - bus tickets, passes, restaurant bookings, help with arranging airport pick ups, etc. etc. Hotel in a lovely, quiet location but well served by a local bus. Cannot get over how good Budapest was. Would thoroughly recommend a stay at this hotel and the city.

Would highly recommend for value and quality. Very welcoming and accommodating to needs. The location of property is enhanced by it's pretty and quiet setting with lovely views, and the garden offers tranquility from the downtown areas. We used two nearby restaurants that offered variety, value and one, was very recommendable for quality and choice. Using the frquent number 8 bus to access central Budapest proved easy and cheap. Hotel offers an airport meet'n'greet service, ie to and from. Fellow guests were respectful and pleasant. Worth noting, is the hotel's smart new conference facilities and self catering rooms, from studio to 5/6 person suites - all with views and at least one has a particularly lovely and private terrace. We would return here on future visits to the capital.

Had one room and one apartement booked for three nights. We were very pleased with the quality of them both. Only problem we had was a non functioning safety box in the appartement. The personnel were really friendly, and made our stay even more comfortable. No disturbances whatsoever during the whole long weekend. If we return to Budapest, this will be our choise number one!

Very helpful staff, intimate atmosphere, quite and beautiful surrondings. Nice rooms and small but good breakfast. We really recommend the hotel for people who wish to stay a little bit outside the city center. Good for families. You can easily take the direct bus to the city center. Stayed 3 nights at the hotel.

We spent 4 nights in this hotel, and were very happy with the choice we made. All staff was very good, welcoming and helpful, and the area is very pretty: green, quiet and full of trees and flowers. A local friend of ours told us that the location is actually considered a "posh" one in Budapest (it's on a hill). The only downside is that you cannot walk into the center, you need to take a bus (8 during the day, 908 at night). During rush hour the ride can take about 20-25 minutes, while during "normal" hours (or week-ends) or at night you can be in the center in 10-15 minutes. Breakfast: very nice, simple but good, and especially if the weather is good you can enjoy your coffee sitting in the garden. Overall, we'd highly recommend Helios to tourists, especially if staying in Budapest for more than one night.

This is an excellent hotel in a very attractive part of Budapest. It is a bit hard to find, though, especially at night. Yet, once you've found it, it's really worth the trouble.Access to public transportation is good provided you're willing to walk 5-6 minutes to the nearest bus stop. I would definitely come back and stay at this hotel again.

We had a wonderful time at Helios hotel. Although the room was a little tiny we enjoyed our stay there and esp. the view from our balcony. The hotel is located in a very nice area of Budapest and going by bus to the centre was as easy as announced. The staff was most friendly and helpfull. Personally I was a little disappoited about the breakfast, but still it was a good base for a days visit of Budapest.

This was first time my mother and I stayed at a B&B while touring Europe. Seasoned pro's at travelling around Europe, my mother perfers to stay in upscale hotels, but I showed her all the good user ratings on venere and she finally agreed to try the B&B. (the price was fabulous as well) I was not let down by everyone's ratings. The B&B was is clean, in the beautiful hills on the Buda side, easy to find the bus to get into town, and the staff was excellent! The only downside was the barking dogs in the nieghborhood, but we adapted to it in no time! Would stay again!

The staff was partly friendly and helpful partly indifferent. The rooms were very satisfying, spacious and well equipped. The public area (breakfast room) was ok but when the house is full the small room is soon crowded and you have to sit outside even if it rains, though they ask the guests when they would like to have breakfast. Breakfast is ok for the price. The bus stop is very close and you have a direct connection to the city. The site is very nice and you can enjoy the panorama. We would stay there again.

This is a great place to stay. The house is beautiful, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable. The breakfast was very good, with plenty of choices of cereal, meat, cheese, bread, yogurt, etc. The location is nice, in the Buda hills, and is easy to get to once you figure out Bus #8 (which takes a little bit of doing -- in fact, some research on the bus line beforehand is essential). The only negative thing about the location was that there were barking dogs everywhere in the neighborhood. Overall, we had a great stay here, and we would highly recommend it.

Excellent hotel located in a quiet residential area. It was difficult to find so make sure you have good directions. Local bus #8 is within easy walking distance and drops you off downtown. No need for a car. We were more than pleased with all aspects of Helios and would recommend it to anyone.

The hotel is in a lovely location, in the hills. There is an excellent bus service which runs to the centre every 10 minutes from early morning up to 11pm. The room and service provided were excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and were pleased we had chosen this hotel.
