My worst experience in Europe!!! When we got to the hostel, we got into a really small elevator to the 4th floor (Hotel Europa Centerpoint Guesthouse only occupies one floor of the building so the picture of the big Hotel Europe is a lie). The ring bell for the reception does not work, so we knocked for a few minutes until someone opened the door. The clerk hardly spoke English and the communication was really hard (sometimes there was nobody in reception). We reserved a standard double room and they gave us a standard twin room. That day at night, we talked to another clerk, with excellent English; he admitted that there was a mistake with our room, so he left a note to his peer in order to switch rooms the next day. The door lock of the corridor does not work pretty well either, so we had to go up and ask for help, they said that the key shouldn’t be introduced completely for the door to open (like a trick, I couldn’t do it). The flush did not work well, the bathroom was not cleaned and it is forbidden to throw the paper in the toilet, so you have to throw it in the trash can (we did not find this very hygienic). The next day, we went to reception, there was another clerk, he was very kind and he apologized for the mistake. He went to check if there was a room available for us, when he came back (this is the amazing part) he apologized again and told us that he couldn’t give us another room because his boss (the owner I think) got drunk and he passed out in the middle of the only room available. The clerk told us that he and his boss had an argument the day before and it was his last night working for the hostel (that's why he got drunk). In compensation, he offered me a soda (Fanta to be more specific). So basically, I paid for a room that I didn’t get and all I got was a soda! I’ll never come back to this place again!

For the price, this is an excellent guesthouse, being approx 30 mins walk from the centre. The staff are helpful. However, the rooms are in a residential complex, so when arriving, we did wonder what we had booked, as the building and the corridors were grim. The shower didn't work when we arrived - but this was fixed quickly. Rooms were good, clean and spacious, with a large TV. Free coffee and a fridge is provided. I would stay again as this is good value for money.

Excellent hotel even for the price. Rooms weren't that small and were very clean. Hotel is 2km from river and zoo so walked everywhere. Didn't have breakfast but I would recommend it for others as it's hard to find something early in town. Only drawback was that receptionist always followed us out for a cigarette so we couldn't talk outside the room.

Receptionist Sophie was very helpful thank you very much. The room was noisy with traffic outside, but after a few drinks this solved the problem. We did not realise it was several hotels in one building. But overall would go back if we were in Budapest asgain.

When we came at noon to the guesthouse the room was not ready and the woman who worked in the reception spoke very poor english and did not let us to see the room. We found out that it was facing to the street, so we demanded to have more quiet room as we had hoped. After long conversations-not friendly-we were promised to have the room with separate beds and facing to the inyard. The room was really small and we got it very late in the afternoon. After we payed for the airconditioning and breakfast (very poor) the price was same as in much better hotels. The towels we got were gray and thin for numerous washings. It looked that some amateurs ran the guesthouse, some of them friendly. Not the place where we would like to go again.

First time at Europa. Bathroom had a musty damp smell. Kettle was furry with yellow water from a previous tenant and a bad smell in it, it was unusable. Messages taped to room door from reception? odd. Receptionist told us to be back at hotel for airport transport at a certain time. We were back at that time and she got very angry saying there was an accident on the road so traffic was bad, apparently she tried to phone us. Neither of our phones had missed calls. Car back had door console 'nailed' in place. Horrific driver, we both thought we'd surely die!

The hotel was not so clean afterall, but this is the only bad thing. The receptionist was very kind and helpful, and the position is really central. If you want to take the metro the station is just under the hotel, it is really useful! Someone said that the neighborhood is not quiet, but it isn't true. There were no bad guys afterall, and a couple of times there were also policemen around, just to take a look. I suggest this hotel to all young people who want a central place where to sleep and then visit the city

It was all right. My description and opinion (I was in TWIN room: ROOM: - really small (narrow), but the walls are high so you don't feel claustrophobic :) - clean; - there's a fridge, kettle, glasses. VIEW: to the patio (so there's a silence - advantage). BATHROOM: - unpleasant smell, probably because it's old building, you can get used to it; - 2 towels/person, soap, shampoo, toilet paper, hairdryer; BREAKFAST: small (it's described on their website) and you have to arrange exact hour. LOCATION: Great. Only 1 underground stop from Keleti railway station - we took it on foot, generally it's in the centre. IN GENERAL: Some details could be more refined, for example, partially peeled away wallpaper. But I liked the stay, staff was friendly, price good and I could come back.

Hotel is a real value for money. The price at Venere.com was almost twice cheaper then at the counter. I booked the smallest room - so the smallest room I've got ;) Still it has all, that's needed for a stay, when you spend all the time in the city and return to the hotel for a sleep. Great location, friendly english-speaking receptionists. Thanks ;)

Very nice place! We booked standart room. Everything was as described. Also we were given a wellcome drink on arrival. Staff is very comunicative, professional and English speaking. They make you think you come to your friend's appartment not at the hotel. Facilities: there are several types of the rooms (with private bathroom and not)- check before booking; kitcheness with microwave, fridge, tea-coffee etc.(as usuall kitchen; lots of tourist information on reception; Position is very comfortable: city view from 4th floor, many fast foods and cafes in few steps (try breakfast in Lado cafe), metro station, and I consider it's location as city center. to summ it up, I'd highly reccomend this place espessially for those who wants to pay less and get more)))

The staff were very friendly, well informed, and always helpful at any hour of the day for directions, advice, or transport information. The location is absolutely spot-on as it's near shops, restaurants, and within the centre of Budapest so most things were within walking distance. If you felt like going a bit further, there were bus stops, tram stops and a Metro station right outside the entrance to the guesthouse. Perfect. The double room we stayed in was pretty small but when the price and facilities on offer are considered this was absolutely no issue for us. We'd definitely go back if we're visiting Budapest. Thank you!

We were there for 4 nights and this was one of the best possible hotels for the budget traveller. It was right above the metro station, just one stop away from the main train station and two stops away from the main squares and the river bank. Awesome location. The size of the room was a bit tiny but it was clean and they gave us a bottle of wine complimentary on arrival, which was a nice unexpected surprise. The people in the reception were all young, very friendly and fluent in English. The day we reached, my wife went down with fever and the girl at the reception, Julia, helped in letting us know where we could find a doctor and some medicines. She also gave us some complimentary honey sachets, which was very sweet. The Hotel was in a 150 year old building with a nice internal courtyard with a garden and a statue. The room had large windows that overlooked a wide street and the citadel in the horizon. The room also had an electric kettle and a nice compact but functional and clean bathroom. Overall a great stay and we would chose it again if we have to go back.

Very nice hotel with good relation of quality to price. Room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. In room there was available electric kettle, galses, mugs and little fridge with minibar. There was also TV and in the bathroom hairdryer. The only minus was that it was very airless and hot, so you need to open the window. Because the hotel is near the center when you open the window it is very, very loud. You cen order air conditioning, but you must tell them you want to few days before yours arrival and it also cost extra 2 euro per day.

The staff was very friendly right from the beginning! On the first day Barbara (at the reception) received us with a big smile and marked some "must-go" spots on the map, moreover, she offered immediately to send an e-mail to the Parliament to get us a spot in a guided tour (which we didn't know that had to be booked in advance, and we managed to do it thanks to her!). We ate breakfast there and asked if there would be brown bread, which they got specifically for us, and that was very kind. The bedrooms are not very spacious but are clean, just like the bathrooms. There was a weird pipe nose coming from the bathroom, very annoying, but it didn't keep us from sleeping so it was fine. Outside the hotel there's a metro and tram station, so you get anywhere very quick! But anyway, we almost never used them: walking in Budapest makes you experience the city in a totally different way (we went in December and it was fine to walk, despite of the cold), and it's very easy to get from the hotel anywhere! (There are a lot of homeless people "leaving" on the metro station, that creeped us out in the beginning but they just stand there so if you son't bother looking it'll be ok) On the last day we checked-out very early and didn't find anywhere to mail some postcards so we left them on an envelope at the reception door asking if they could post them for us, and the did it. Even though not being a very fancy hotel, it's very comfortable and in a good location, we'd definitely stay there again :)

I was very disappointed with the 'hotel', it was not a hotel. It was of a lesser standard then any hostel i have ever stayed in. The location was good in as far as we were very close to the center, however, we did not feel safe where we were. There was no lobby, no restaurant, no common areas. We were in a residential building which also had a hostel and what I suspect may have been assisted accommodation for homeless people. I paid for a 3 person room. There was 1 double bed and a couch. The couch was very uncomfortable. We were looking out on to one of the main roads in the city and we did not sleep a wink. After the 2nd night, I asked for the room to be changed, I was offered a room facing the same road and advised there were no other 3 bed rooms in the 'hotel'. It was a very cheap 'hotel' and I was not expecting a lot, however, I have stayed in basic accommodation before with no problems. I have traveled through the states using campsites. I will say that the room was clean and the staff were fine. If you are in dire need of a very cheap place to stay for 1 night, then maybe you could use this place, but do not stay for any long period of time and DO NOT take children in to this place.

We stayed three nights in Budapest. The Guesthouse was very easy to get to as it is located just next to the metro station and the main train station. The city center was easily accessible either by public transport or walking. The room and ensuite bathroom were very clean, with high ceilings, complete with tv and fridge. The hotel is small and quiet (despite being on a main road there was no traffic noise). The breakfast was very reasonable and convenient- everything provided: hot/cold beverages, cereals, eggs, cheese, meat slices, bread, fruit etc. The hotel staff were very helpful and accommodating. There was wifi available in every room and the lobby. Very good value for money. Would stay there again definitely.

We staied in budapest 3 days(3 nights). Our priority was to have a cheap location where sleeping and relax a couple of hour in the afternoon before going out for dinner, and I have to say that our choice was perfect. Rooms were very basic but comfortable anyway, bathroom without a window was the only point for us. Cleanliness of room is not outstanding but sufficient. But what is outstanding is the location of the hotel, 10 mins walking from the very centre of city, metro in front of the door, trams and buses to everywhere. This made our journey perfect. so i have to say that the ratio between price (just 23 € per night) and enjoiability is great!i advise this place, thank you!

The location is excellent, easily reached by public transport, with possibilities of travelling all around the city centre. There is a supermarket right across the street. The rooms facing the street may be a bit noisy because of heavy traffic. The central heating worked only through a few hours every day. The photos indicated a massage shower cubicle but the massage nozzles didn't work. The cabinet under the bathroom sink was unusable due to a lot of construction trash in it. The reception is in fact only a small room on the 4th floor but provides basic info and free maps & guides, though they were out of English editions on our arrival. Overall satisfaction 90 %. Tip for eating out: A nice, reasonably priced Pakistani restaurant just 5-10 minutes of walking distance (Kohinoor Etterem, Wesselenyi ut.)
