The Császár hotel is situated in Budapest, 500 metres from Margaret Bridge and the lush green Margaret Island (Margit Sziget) where Hungarians and tourists can go for a nice walk, to sunbathe or visit the small zoo. The Lukàcs thermal baths are also located nearby.
The city centre and all major attractions are also easily reachable by the efficient public transportation service, available day and night. The property is the only one in Hungary to own an Olympic swimming pool suitable for those who wish to keep in shape.
In addition to the swimming pool the hotel features a bar, an Internet Point available in the lobby and a meeting room that can host up to 15 persons.

In a business travel, one person in a double room. Overall the room was OK and clean; the bathroom was fine except that there was no bench around the sink to put stuff and the shower curtain was a bit filthy at the bottom. But the main problem with the room was that it gave on the street side and there's a very noisy tram line starting at 5:30 am; it was that bad that the walls and bed shook when the tram passed. I was on the first floor and I can only image how bad it must be for rooms at the ground floor. In addition to that (if that was not enough to wake you up), there is a small windows above the door from which the sun comes in, which at that time of year was around 6 am. The more optimistics would say that it assures you an early start for the day to visit the city. Apart from that, the hotel was pleasant with a lot of sunlight and a nice view on the 50 metres long pool. Breakfast was OK. At 50 euros, it was a cheap hotel with minor downsides if you don't mind waking up early.

The hotel is not convenient for any kind of nightlife. You have to pay every time you enter the pool, it's not a part of your stay. It's a public pool that the hotel borders that you pay for. Also, the metro trains do not run by the hotel, but suburban rails do, but are not convenient for reaching the main sights of Buda or Pest. It's much better to stay on the Pest side of town. It was cheap and clean so it worked for me for a couple days, but it would not be ideal for an extended stay, stays with kids, or anyone who plans to go out past 18:00.

I found the hotel very clean and the staff was helpful. Though it is not exactly in downtown Budapest, one can take a tram and get there in less than 10 minutes.

By car
The highway M1/E71 will take you directly into the city. Proceed down Gellért hill along Hegyalja u. and turn left and proceed along the banks of the Danube on Budai alsò rkp.. Then take Arpàd fejedelem ùtja and turn right on Frankel Léo u. where the hotel is located.
