Absolutely great location (few steps away from Vaci Utca and Elizabeth bridge), breakfast was good, the staff was friendly, communicated well in English and was able to answer all my questions related to what to visit in the city, how to get there, recommendations, etc. Good experience, and fair relationship price/quality. Will definitely try to book the same hotel when I visit Budapest next time.

We booked two double rooms and would have liked them closer to each other. The one room (165) did not have any daylight at all, facing a yard filled with crap and scrap. The room was dark at all times. Should we return, we would definitely ask for street view. We would have like elevator, too. When leaving, the taxi came on time, but you and the taxidriver should be more specific in asking which terminal to go to. We were not aware of the distance from terminal 1 to 2 - we were taken to no. 1, but our plane left from terminal 2, so we arrived at the last moment, quite frustrated.

We had a very pleasant stay at this quirky hotel. The hotel is situated in a block and shres the building with apartment residents. One downside is that there is only one lift. The location is good as only a 7 minute walk from the Metro. We had as requested a wonderful Danube view. The breakfast was very good indeed. All in all a good stay at this hotel.

A good central location and easy to find. The breakfast is self service and there is plenty of it. The staff on the desk are very keen to help and speak good English. A lot of the rooms face onto a deep, paved courtyard so noise reverberates. If inconsiderate people arrive late / early morning and make a lot of noise, everyone gets to hear it but that only happened once during my stay.

We reserved on 17 of March for a room on 17 of April and we called three hours before arriving for another confermation: they said us that was all ok. They had our numbers of telephone and our e mail address. When we arrived at 0.15 a.m.the night porter told us that there was a mistake and we were obliged to transfer us in another hotel that they decided. A such thing like this haven't been happened in my life before, never!

We had a room with wonderful view on the river and the hill. The hotel is located in the centre, close to the subway and the trolleybus.the staff was quite cold, but helpful. The breakfast was served in a funny decorated room. I'll stay here again, if I'll be back in Budapest

If want a nice hotel - this is the wrong place!!! A) Full noise impact The hotel was directly facing a very busy street, running 10 meters above the ground. B) "room to the quiet side-street" sounds good, but means: dark, small & ugly C) Fight for your right ... for breakfast. Ask for bread, coffe, jam,.. I mean - the basics. otherwise you won´t get them.

The hotel is drab. The location is good, close to center-city activities. The room I had was very drab, small, and with a tiny, old and very uncomfortable single bed. There was no internet service. The shower was incredibly small and old, and leaked badly. The bathroom was provided with one towel. I made a reservation for a week, but moved out after the first night. There are much better, newer hotels at the same price, with similar good locations. I suggest the Basilica Hotel located a few blocks away, right next to St. Stephen's Cathedral. It's brand new, with nice rooms and bathrooms, and is exactly the same price.

I had stayed at this Hotel about 7 years ago and it has declined in quality. Too busy with tour buses and contrary to what they say in their ads. NO WIFI. they have one computer in the lobby and you have to pay for that. and it was broken for 2 of the 3 days I was there. Great central location though. Also double bed was actually two beds pushed together. Breakfast @ the Pince next door was pretty good and Big compared to other places I stayed .I think it's strange Europeans are into Luncheon meats for breakfast.

Lovely stay. Hotel was fine, staff friendly and helpful; we had a courtyard room which was a little dark, but quiet other than when they collected bottles in the middle of the night. Hotel was in easy walking distance of the city centre, the metro, and even the river to walk over the 'chain' bridge to Buda. We spent three days, could have done with one more. The outside Thermal Baths at Szechenyi in the pouring rain was very memorable! We bought a 3 day travel pass at the main metro station - made getting round fast, or after a days walking, very easy. Whole place was extremely clean, floors in the metro were slippery from being polished! Used restaurant one night at the hotel, but there are plenty of places nearby, and even a supermarket to buy a few cold beers.

This is a large, very central hotel with a lively restaurant in its basement which comes complete with Hungarian folk band in the evenings! Slightly disappointing to find that the 1920s exterior belies the 1970s interior. Its best to insist on a room with a river view, although the hotel is not directly facing the river anyway. More rooms with balconies would be a must in the summer as few rooms have AC as yet.

Old hôtel ! They are revampihg it, but the first access is poor... Very well located in downtown Pest; Not so easy to park the car, and very expensive in semi-public underground parking ! We had a room with a nice sightseeing on Buda and Danube; Gorgeous brekfeast in a nice "Art Nouveau" tavern. Location : is located just South - and not North as indicated on your map - Ertzbet bridge.

We are a group of 6 travelling Europe and stayed in Budapest for 3 nights. Although we found the entrance to Matyas Hotel unwelcoming, the rooms were clean and comfortable. The Breakfast was good with plenty of choice, although the eggs and bacon left something to be desired. However, if you want an English breakfast-stay in England. The Hotel Staff spoke good English and were very accomodating. It would be advisable if you enquired at reception of any disreputable areas, as we found that there are some unsavoury characters eager to take your money.

The hotel is in the very heart of Budapest, near to every interesting place or easily reacheble by bus or subway. The view was wonderful, the breakfast good, the staff welcoming. The hotel is also easily reachable from the airport (bus n.200 until the terminal, then the subway until Frederick tere).

First impressions are not good. This property is a pension rather than a hotel, and occupies only the ground floor and part of the second floor of an old building. The common entrance hall is extremely gloomy and unwelcoming, and I thought twice about continuing. However, the reception area and the rooms have been refurbished to a high standard - our room was spacious, with high ceilings, furnished in a very modern IKEA-like style. The bathroom was good. We even had a great view across the Danube from the window (and double-glazing to keep out traffic noise). The location was fantastic, and it was an easy walk to every one of Budapest's main sights and shopping areas. There were several metro stations in the vicinity, and a supermarket on the next block. At night we were able to easily walk to the main bar/restaurant/nightlife districts. The staff were friendly, efficient and spoke excellent English. Breakfast was plentiful if a little grim - rather poor quality and served in a large, dim basement restaurant with no natural light. Overall, if you're looking for a comfortable, inexpensive place to sleep in central Budapest you can't go wrong with this pension. It's worth bearing in mind that once you've got the keycard you no longer have to go through the reception area to get to your room - useful if you meet a nice local lad (or lass) while out on the town!

Great location, friendly staff, and a nice buffet for breakfast. Just across the bridge is the 'Ruda Baths', well worth a visit and great for relaxing. Be aware that if you have a room with a view you will experience some noise at night, but given price and locality it is a good place to stay.

The main thing that this hotel has going for it is it's very central location. The very friendly staff arranged an airport pick-up for us which we were thankful for as the signage wasn't that easy to find. Once you get over your first impressions (a rabbit warren of stairs & corridors, dim lighting and only partial carpeting in the hallway) and venture into the lift - barely big enough for two people let alone with luggage, the room was actually safe and warm. The position of the hotel is great as it is very close to the metro sytsem and 1 minute walk to the main shopping street. The staff were very helpful.

Close to many famous tourist spots within walking distance; shopping and food in the surroundings bit expensive; nice view (elizabeth bridge and danube river and buda side)from balcony (only if u request street view and balcony); busy area and night time many prostitues and pimps; room clean and tidy and comfortable bed; bathroom spacious and bright enough ; breakfast is very good and enjoyable in the downstair restaurant which is over 100 years old.; overall stay is very satisfactory but i think price is a bit high if less than 90euro i will giv it a 5 stars

The hotel is in an excellent position. Very handy for the town and very close to the river, with some excellent views. The only problem was the lack of lighting in the stairways. Negotiating two flights of stairs in the pitch black can be pretty tricky. Rooms are kept clean, and the staff all speak reasonable English. Good value.
