Despite I have booked this hotel as a 4 star hotel and it only has 3 stars, this is a good hotel, with very nice employees. I recommend all the new visitors to be very careful with taxi drivers because they will try to charge 3 times more than they should.

Excellent value for money. The room was spacious - all you need for a short city break. There was some traffic noise - but Budapest is a large busy city. Staff were very helpful. We especially appreciated the fixed price taxi transfer to and from the airport which they arranged for us.

The Hotel was very nice, the room was enormous and quiet, but we did request the room away from the busy main street. The only drawback is that coming by car you can't acces the Hotel directly from the main street. You can see it, drive past it, but cannot turn left. You have to go right at the trafficlight, than cross the main street (Hegyalia) and come from the back. It's a little confusing, especially with all the heavy traffic. Not a big thing, though. Otherwise, excellent location, we could walk to the center (Chain Bridge is 15 min walk, so is Citadell and Buda castle). We will most certainly come back.

The room (63) is good overall but very hot with no air-conditoning and the windows can't block the high noise from the streets. Very helpfull staff. Booking through the internet there's no way of choosing the room, but it would be nice to choose.

We have big room with kitchen- with cooker and fridge, and bathroom,it was cleaned every day, the staff of the Hotel Charles was very kind and friendy. But we are non-smokers and we still have smelt the smoke from last quests in our room , we advice to note that You are non smoker while booking by mail or when Your are contacting the Hotel Charles. Also there is place nearby Hotel for free parking or You can use undergroung paid parking under Hotel Charles. Across the street 5 minute by walk there is 24 hours open shop with food, drinks atc. We have walked every day to Center , it has took about 20 minutes to river Danube and from that place You can choose any destination. We strongly advice to go to Budapest !!!Very old, healthy and traditional SPA on almost every "step".

Our room was rather noisy (from passing traffic), which resulted in some interrupted sleep. Having said that, we were facing the road - if we had one of the rooms at the back away from the road it probably would have been OK; if we stayed again we'd definitely request such a room. Other than that, we had a great stay - the hotel is very good for the price, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the location is only a short 10-15 walk down the hill to the city center, across to the Fisherman's Bastion or up to the Citadella.

We had an excellent stay at Charles Hotel. We booked two double rooms and got two small apartments. Staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable and the restaurant is outstanding. Very good value for the price. Rooms were extremely spacious and well appointed - kitchenette included. Staff was very professional and helpful, providing honest advice in a city where you can easily get scalped. The hotel is located in a nice residential area of Buda, just across the street from a bus which takes 10 mins to drop you downtown Pest. The hotel restaurant (Janos) is a gem, a notch above what we saw in Pest at comparable prices (breakfast buffet is 8E but is well made and you can even have sparkling wine - which we found a really nice touch). Make sure to give Janos a try, any time of day:-)

The staff is very friendly and helpful and the rooms are really spacious; we ordered two single rooms, and got two little "apartments":) The hotel is close to the bus station so it is easy to get to the city center. The breakfast buffèt is impressive, like the ones you can expect in much more expencive hotels! The only thing I missed in my room was somewhere to hang my jacket in the hall and a garbage bin in the bathroom, but this is details and I would definitely go here again, -great value for money!

The rooms are pretty large, and actually have kitchenettes. Free wireless Internet in the rooms, pretty bad upstream connection though. My room reeked of smoke, but the kind of smell that evaporates from the walls... :-/ Opening the windows solved that problem, but if I was on the other side of the building, facing the road, it might have been a problem. No room service. Excellent (but, really, EXCELLENT) restaurant Janos on the ground floor - unique culinary experience, and a very creative chef, for moderate prices. Fair choice of wines. The meals cannot be charged to the room.

Room was large and very comfortable. Small kitchen diner was a pleasant surprise. Only drawback was the traffic noise from the busy road. The staff couldn't have been more helpful or pleasant and spoke excellent English. The attached restaurant Janos provided an excellent, varied selection for the included breakfast and a marvelous menu and level of service for an evening meal in. Access to the city centre by a frequent bus service just outside the hotel takes 6 or 7mins. Highly recommended, great value.

The staff was nice and helpful, but that`s about it. Our room was stinky although we requested a non-smoking room and the noise from the street was terrible although we had requested a room on the quiet end of the hotel. It was situated too far from sights, although the buses ran pretty often.

The staff was very helpful and good to work with. They helped us with everything from directions to changing money (and all spoke clear English). The only down sides were the location (a little far from the tourist stuff) and the smell of the room. Although the room was clean, it had a strong smell of tobacco (not smoke), even more than our other European hotels. But add that to the great price for the room and it was still worth it and we would go back.

Quite ok, but behind the castle on the BUDA site, about 15 minutes walk from the river. Especially in the dark not very comfortable. Nice staff, a spacious room, but sb. had worked in there with fresh colour, it smelled awfully. A single leisure traveller might feel comfortable.

Short stay, but nice "accueil", good informations from the staff, very good service from them also. Clean and large studio, but really noisy due to the traffic in the evening and the morning. Excellent place to stay in Budapest if you are not too concerned about being along the river. It is not exactly central, but not far from the centre either. As i read on previous visitors' reviews , quite noisy the rooms on the main road, but generally the hotel is well situated in the city , few minutes walking to get the center, that's good to avoid th emore noise of the center's roads . I really appreaceated the crew, the all speak many languages , and they always welcome yuo with a smile!! the food ( inside the hotel there's the restaurant : Janos Etterem ( John Restaurant ) ) was simply perfect , as the breakfast the morning after !!! we liked a lot the welcome service ( instead of the usual boring cocktail , or fruits in the room ) a discount of the 40 % on the first dinner in the hotel, tupical hungarian food : excellent !! . I personally met the first cook , a great person !!! i'll stay in C.H. again stopping in Budapest !!!

Enjoyed our stay in the Charles hotel. The map and location description was pretty useless, but once we found the hotel we were pleased that we could walk into the city centre fairly easily (about a 15-20 min walk). Buses served it well too. Staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent. Would recommend this hotel to anyone, just try to get a decent map of the city before you travel in order to locate the hotel!

Very nice hotel/rooms + employees First the did not know the number of guests bookt by venere (2) , but it was no problem, and we got a room in backyard of the hotel. It is better to book a room in backyard because there are two main roads in the front. It was a pleasant stay!

The only problem with the Charles during our stay was that having asked for a room on the quiet side of the hotel away from the extremely busy main road, we were woken up by building works at 7 o'clock in the morning! Might be worth asking if this is still going on. Otherwise this hotel is a really good deal, spacious, good breakfasts, very helpful staff.
