The hotel is nearby the metro and train station so it's very easy to reach. Once we found the reception (5the floor) everything went smoothly. Friendly, helpful people, clean room. There's someone 24h a day so we could leave and come back whenever. Breakfast until 11, which is good when you like to sleep long. The windows are orientated at the central open space of the hotel, not the noisy street which makes it calm and quit to sleep. It was really hot outside but cool inside. I recommend it!

The hotel is quite good, but should it raining, the whole area in front of it turns in a pool (due to the works in progress)! As for the hotel in itself, the television receives only hungarian programs (not satellite television as stated in the web site). IMPORTANT : DO NOT CHANGE YOUR MONEY AT THE RAILWAY STATION - THE RATE EXHANGE IS BETTER IN DOWNTOWN !!!

The only reason why we stayed here was because we needed to get the train to miskolc the next day so very ideal for ppl who will travel by train on the trip. there's absolutely nothing to shout about of this hotel. There are like one decent restaurant nearby which took us 2 hours to find on our first day, staff were generally helpful in hotel whom recommended us the resturant nearby and in the end the meal was good(budapest is generally cheap for food anyway).Don't expect too much!

I selected Hotel Baross because of its proximity to the Keleti train station, and was pleased with my selection. Construction is taking place in the square in front of the hotel, which was a bit of a nuisance, but not a major hindrance. Spent little time in the vicinity of the hotel.

Hotel Baross is about 50 yards from the Budapest Keleti station. Staff friendly and reception speak good english. Rooms are on the 4th and 5th floor of the building in the picture. At the time of my visit (May 2009) the works to add a 4th Metro line to Budapest made the square outside the hotel a building site. I'd stay there again.

Tutto ok, altamente consigliato. Saluti.

This was a great find ... main reason I'd booked was proximity to Keleti Pu, but had doubts about how close it would really be. Well, it's REALLY close! Staff extremely helpful and obliging, and speak pretty good English. The hotel receptionist did what the train station would not: printed out a long and confusing timetable which took me into the deep countryside, which was my next destination. Pretty good breakfast, and the coffe machine in the lobby, as also the internet, (coin-operated, fairly reasonable) are two great ideas! Hotel gives very good info about stuff to do in city, and also does the bookings. Recommended!

While there is construction going on in the plaza in front of the hotel- this hotel is literally across the street from the train station we arrived at from vienna. the staff are great and all speak english- trust them- they wont steer you wrong.the hotel is located on the 5th floor of the building- keeping you away from the street noise that occurs from train station nearby-taxis and buses are easy to get- but the train into the center of town is RIGHT THERE- use it- breakfast is good- they really try to make it that way

The hotel neighbourhood is a little rough and my sister was warned to protect the video camera. We were given a room facing the court yard, so we did not hear the outside noise but we heard all the commotions young people were making at the corridor at night. Fortunately it didn't last till late. There was absolutely no wall hanging, picture or decoration in the room (no phone either). Breakfast was O.K. although we had to ask to zap our coffee to make it hot. It was an okay hotel.

The location of the property is close to public transpotation. The overall immediate surrounding is undergoing construction therefore the immediate surroundings are not aesthetically pleasant. The hotel itself is very good...nice spaciouus rooms and a very efficient staff that immediately accomodated us upon our early arrival in the property. They checked us in early which was a relief since we had just come in from a train ride and we were pretty tired. If I return to Budapest,I may stay here again!

Difficult to find good accommodations for 4 persons, but Hotel Baross was great in this area. We had an inside facing room on our first stay in late June and needed cool and quiet. That room was excellent for both. Second stay, we had smaller outside facing room and the AC didn't work properly, so it was not as comfortable. They are doing their best to accommodate guests in spite of all the construction taking place outside. So close to all trains - easy walk.

The htel was lovely, with large, clean rooms and a huge shower cubicle. The breakfst selection was excellent. As a smoker, I was allowed to smoke in my room, but I reckon that will stop soon as the smoking rooms were few in number. The hotel was easy to find, and was a great place to get buses, trolleys and subways from. The square outside the hotel is a bit messy at present (July 2008) with the buiding of the new metro line, but when that's finished, it will be even better.

This hotel is clean and friendly. The staff are very pleasant and speak good English. Our room smelled of sewerage which we traced to the shower. The smell was coming up through the plug hole. We fitted the pluh and filled the base with water and all was fine. The hotel is a long way from the Danube and theres not a lot going on around it but it is handy for the Railway station. Theres building work going on at the front of the hotel at the moment but it wasn't too noisy. Apart from the location the Baross is reasonable value for money

The hotel is good, for young people, for a family, for a group. Near the public trasportation. Unfortunately we got a problem with payment with CC. The price with Venere for a group was 890 EUR. I receive instead a balance of 918 EUR, because the payment was in HUF (222.500) with unfair exchange rate. I suggest next guest to pay cash. Otherwise to switch the preventive in HUF by this site, before arrive there.

Really good hotel to stay in. only problem we had was a mix up in times for them to book our airport minibus... resulting in it arriving 12 hours early when we were asleep. However the hotel soon fixed the problem and im sure it was just miscomunication and mistranslation! On the whole the hotel reception were excellent, offered us brilliant advice as to where to find restaurants/bars/club and it is in a great location- very easy to get everywhere!

The staff were extremely lovely and helpful. The breakfast was ok. Unfortunately with the paper thin walls we could hear everything the people in the room next to us was doing (Talking, going to & flushing the toilet etc) which made it difficult to sleep. The room had been cleaned, but the carpet and quilt cover seemed a bit too stained which wasn't very pleasant.

First time in Budapest! Firstly, the staff was friendly in giving us directions and recommending places to eat. Only the kitchen staff during breakfast should learn to put a smile on their faces instead of sulking most of the time. The location of the hotel is fantastic as it is just across Keleti railstation which makes it very convenient for travelling to your destination. The rooms are spacious, clean, nice hot shower, and the heating is adequate. Value for money! The hotel lounge is rather small and internet access is not free. Apart from that, all is good and Budapest is awesome!

Hotel eccellente, camera spaziosa e pulita. Bagno ottimo, vasca da bagno, doccia, no bidet. Manca solo shampoo e doccia-schiuma, fornito solo sapone liquido, peccato. Consiglio sicuramente soggiorno. Io ci tornerò presto -- Excellent hotel, spacious room and cleaning up. Excellent bath, bathtub, shower, no bidet. It misses only shampoo and shower-foam, furnished only liquid soap, sinned. Rich breakfast in "German" style (sweets that salted) - only the coffee' indeed not to the height after all. All very abundant and fresh from 7 am to 11 am. Good safety service with doorman 24h/24h. Outskirtses rich in shops and fast-foods even if non central position. I surely recommend stay. I will return soon there.

Good staff and security. Lovely, spacious room that was clean and had a very large bed. The location was excellent (across from Keleti train station and metro). The only negative was that the room faced the square which was very busy and noisy day and night (however we slept through most of it). We would stay here again but would request a room that did not face the main square.

Me and my boyfriend would definately recommend Hotel Baross. The room was large and comfortable, the staff friendly and helpful, and the location was excellent. The metro stop is just outside the front door of the hotel, which means easy access to both Buda and Pest. The breakfast was lovely, with plenty of choice to make sure no one went hungry! The only negative point was that our window looked out onto the lift doors so there were always people walking past our window. Budapest is a great city to visit and Hotel Baross helped make our stay even more enjoyable, thankyou.

The Baross was a very convenient location for us. It is close to the metro and the train station, which for us was great since we took the train to Vienna. The people at the reservation desk were extremely helpful giving directions and just generally friendly. My only negative comment would be that the room was too hot. We had to turn off the heat and open a window, even though outside it was freezing.

Baross is a good place to stay in Budapest especially for the price. The hotel is conveniently located right next to public transportation (subway, train). The only complaint is that the walls are way too thin. Our bedroom (room 510) was connected to 509's bathroom. Thus, we were able to hear the next door neighbor talk and use the bathroom. All water pipes create excessive noise so it was very disruptive in the morning. Besides the noise for the value and location it is a great place. I would go back again but I would stay away from 509, 510, 511. It's the same for the 6th floor also.

I do not hesitate in recommending this hotel to anyone who wants a comfortable stay in the centre of Budapest. We stayed there in August 2005. Prices are reasonable, our room was large, clean and comfortable. Great shower. The staff are efficient, friendly and speak very good English. The breakfast is included in the price and is excellent (except coffee). The hotel is very well located on Baross Ter (Square), next to a tube station, major bus routes and a major train station. We actually walked to the city every time we wandered to Pest, but for Buda the buses or trams are very convenient. Even though the hotel is no a major city centre road, it was very quiet.

Hotel was very clean and tidy, no noise problems. Although this hotel is not very central, transport is no problem, links into centre are across the road, it is only a 15 min walk to the river. We enjoyed our stay. The location of the hotel, near Keleti pu transport hub makes getting around on public transport very easy, however immediate area is a bit grim. Breakfast is excellent, however there is not a bar in the hotel as advertised. Public areas are well appointed but frequently very smokey. Although our room was non smoking, as we were located next to the reception the smell permeated into the room. The room was located on the front of the building and next to the breakfast room so was very noisy as a result of heavy traffic and the large number of guests - avoid being allocated room 504! We arranged for transport to and from the airport which was welcome as we arrived late due to flight delays. We paid for a taxi but ended up in a minibus for our return journey which was disappointing.

We would highly recommend the Hotel Baross. It is excellent value for money, the staff were very friendly, helpful and spoke perfect English. The hotel was immaculate and very well kept, and the buffet breakfast could not be faulted. The only draw back, if it is one, is that it is not as centrally located as we imagined and the area is somewhat 'down at heels'. However, the Metro is directly opposite and we were in the centre in a few minutes. The public transport system is very efficient and easy to navigate. We would highly recommend Hotel Baross for a perfect base to enjoy the beautiful city of Budapest.

This was our second time staying at Baross. OUr first 2 nights we had a room (502) on the roadside. The rooms were very warm and the windows had to be opened for cooler air, but the noise from the streets/traffic was extremely loud. We decided to stay an additional night and was placed in room 501. Although this room was not on the street side, the windows opened up to the elevator and motion light that would constantly come on. Again, the room was warm, and the windows had to be opened.

Unexpectedly good, after one arrives at the Budapest station - a short walk across the (still squallid)square, a less exciting ground-floor, a modern elevator, though, with see-through on the lovely courtyard, entrance on the 5th floor, pleasant personnel. The less than perfect note for welcoming and services is only due to the fact that "the computer can't accept credit cards" hence one might have to search for an ATM to retrieve cash. I am curious to know if it is just one isolated case or a trend.... and this should not happen. Also, to my knowledge, there is no elevator service between floors, hence it might be uncomfortable for people with heavy luggage. But the rooms (although I had to change one when returning at night because there was some unpleasant odor in the original one, but I was promptly assigned an other) are clean and spacious enough, and the bathrooms impeccable. Definitely a very good value, and the buffet breakfast was generous. I would return.

How to reach Baross Hotel
By airplaneThe Budapest Ferihegy Airport is located 15km (9 miles) from the city centre. The airport authorities run a minibus service to anywhere in the city, which costs approximately Ft1,200 (€4,90). On arrival simply visit the minibus desk and state your destination. The minibus is likely to drop off other passengers en route but provides a cheap, reliable service throughout the city. Similarly, when travelling to the airport simply call the office on 1 296 85 55 and tell them which flight you are on. It is best to call 24 hours in advance of your flight to ensure they are able to collect you.
An airport bus also runs to and from Erzsébet tér (Elizabeth square) bus station in the city centre every thirty minutes (between 5.30 a.m. and 9 p.m.) and costs approximately Ft600 (€2,45).
Bus number 93 runs between the airport and the underground terminus of Köbánya-Kispest with connection to the rest of the city. The cost of a ticket is approximately Ft95 (€0,40).
A taxi to the centre of Budapest will cost anything between Ft3,500 (€14,15) and Ft4,500 (€18,13). A large taxi rank is situated in front of the airport terminal building. It is recommended you arrange with the driver how much it will cost to reach your destination and never use an unmarked vehicle.
