The 4-star Danubius Hotel Astoria is situated in the heart of Budapest and is one of the most fascinating hotels of the capital. Opened in 1914, the property was restored and modernized several times. The Empire-style interiors, the marble decor, the fancy carpets, the crystal chandeliers, the glittering mirrors and the stained-glass windows, make this property the ideal place for a romantic stay. Many film producers and directors shot several films inside the Danubius Hotel Astoria.

Due to the hotel's excellent services and ideal location within walking distance from the administrative, business and cultural districts and the famous shopping area of Váci Street, the hotel is very popular among foreigners and locals alike.

The hotel features a restaurant and a coffee lounge in Belle Èpoque-style where you can spend your candle-lit dinners or relax with your favourite cocktail.

The Danubius Hotel Astoria also features Wi-Fi Internet connection and a reception open 24-hours a day where you can ask for useful information on itineraries, restaurants, events and rent a car.

Charming, older hotel in great location, right by the famous synagogue and the Jewish Quarter; all points easily accessible-walked everywhere. Reception staff (24 hour) very knowledgeable and extremely helpful in guiding you around the city and answering all questions. Was lovely having a bellman, too, + two elevators. Two beautiful eating areas to have "tea" and dine in. Only complaints: (1)the morning "breakfast" included in the room price was only a small croissant and very watered down coffee; otherwise, the hotel offered a very expensive buffet, and (2) free wifi only in the lobby and restaurant. Highly recommend Free Walking Tours while in Budapest.

Central, charming and very good value. The inclusive breakfast was poor - a coffee and stale croissant, compared to the delicious buffet breakfast for an extra 14 euros. Staff all very nice and helpful.

This hotel is in a great location, literally right above the Astoria train stop! Very old, but well kept, our room could have used a bit of updating, but very comfortable and roomy enough for two. The bathroom was roomy, with a tub and shower combo, with shower curtain so the room stayed dry. Our ONLY complaint was the pillows. They were like thin bricks--and when we asked for different ones we were given teeny, thin squares! We DID make this comment to the front desk and they said yes, they had heard this before! Goose down pillow options would be a great upgrade!

Budapest was great, I stayed at the Astoria hotel right in the middle of the city, I walked for hours around 6 miles and as you can see a ton of pictures. So much history, so much culture, the Astoria has a very good staff, they are multi lingual (Hungarian, German, English, Italian and some Spanish). I did not eat at their restaurant last night because the hotel was hosting a wedding, but they sent me to a restaurant called Biffs Bistro. The atmosphere was terrific, had a violinist and a piano player that could perform Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and even some tangos. The only thing I recommend to make the stay even better is to include a free breakfast, I had to pay 21.50 euros for a below average continental breakfast, really worth maybe 4.00 euros.

This was a great hotel. Staff was excellent. Almost all staff members spoke excellent English. Everyone was helpful and courteous. Hotel is centrally located, easy metro access, walking distance to lots of restaurants and cafes. Although breakfast was not included in our rate, we were able to add it for a reasonable cost. In addition to the extensive buffet, you could custom order eggs, omelets, bacon, etc. at no additional cost. Would definitely recommend.

1st time in Budapest and an excellent base to see all the sites from, walked from the hotel along the Danube to and around margrit island then up to bude castle and along to the citadel. If you don't fancy walking the red city tour bus stops across the rd from the hotel. The hotel itself had absolutely nothing I could find fault with, and amazingly neither could my wife. The staff were very welcoming and very helpful, when asking about concert tickets they immediately offered to call and book, directions and advise were always willingly given, couldn’t ask for more. I'd happily return again and again.

I had never been to Budapest and this visit was for pure pleasure. The only drawback to the hotel was the front desk person: he was very haughty and condescending. I have since learned that his attitude may be "typically" Hungarian male. In the end he gave us the help we needed, but not without "attitude." Everything else about the hotel and the city was wonderful!!

Location is convenient. It is within walking distance from all central major sites. It is just a few hundred meters further than the cluster of the major international five star hotels. The metro is located just in front of the front door. It is very enjoyable for people who appreciate staying in historical buildings which preserve intact their original ambiance. The hotel has been renovated and is in excellent shape. Excellent value for money

Hotel Astoria was the perfect hotel to visit Budapest, it is very centrally located(underground stop outside the door of the hotel)less than 10 minutes walking from the elegant Vaci street, fully furnished, clean. Receptionists speak english and are very kind. The only thing that left me astonished is that in such a place you have to pay to get an internet connection!Anyway if you're there to visit i recommend you hotel Astoria!

This is a nice hotel on the inside. That is about all. The staff is incredibly rude and unwilling to help in any manner. We did not even receive a "hello" upon arrival, merely told that our passports were required and I had to have my CC authorized. We had to ask for a map. We would ask for directions or recommendations and again were slighted by the staff. At least 5 different people treated us as if we were an imposition instead of guests. The street side was noisy and even though I specifically asked for an interior room we did not get one and again the staff did not help. The rooms were not cleaned to any decent standard. The cleaning people barge in at 9am. This was supposed to be our splurge an it was no better than any cut rate hotel. I do not recommend this place unless you have money to waste, because you certainly get NO/ZERO value for your money. As compared to Prague where we paid half the price and were treated wonderfully....this place is a disgrace. The beauty of the interior is definitely not worth the extra money.
