Hotel was easy to get to via airport shuttle - no need for taxi. Walking distance to a number of tourist attractions. Ended up in a huge room for 2 which was nice for me as a single traveller! Room was nice. A bit noisy as I could hear workmen in nearby rooms and children in surrounding appartments. Really good breakfast included. Staff very helpful and pleasant.

I had a very pleasant stay. The hotel is in a very quiet location and yet close to the sights of Buda and yet with easy access to Pest (just a walk over the bridge!). Breakfasts were good. Rooms are not large though the photo does give a true impression.

Our booking included a Budapest Travel Card, which was not given to us when we checked in, causing us to buy tram-tickets the first day, meaning additions expenses. Otherwise the staff was very helpful, finding places we wanted to visit, cordial and we had a very nice stay. The room was quiet, the service good, but the breakfast lacked options of spreads and the coffee and cappucino was below standard. All totaled, however, we would stay there again

The Carlton Hotel in Budapest is well worth staying in. Convenient, quiet, welcoming and only 10 mins walk from the centre of Budapest. I would definitely stay here again. 9/10.

This hotel was an absolutley great find. The location, only a block and a half from the entrance to the Chain Bridge, made it ideally located for exploring the attractions in Buda and Pest. The buffet breakfast was excellent. In short, the hotel offers unbeatable value for the money. Recommend that visitors to Budapest stop by one of the Touriform Offices in town to pick Minicard discount cards. The discounts are, in some cases, comparable to what is offered through the Budapest Card, but the minicards are free.

Great hotel! Really. Whenever I have to go back to Budapest i'll choose that hotel. Quietness of rooms, employees very helpful (first night we arrived late but they managed to book a restaurant and have the kitchen opened for us!).

The Carlton is an excellent hotel, located in the Buda part of the city to the West of the Danube, below the Fishermans Bastion and only five minutes walk from the furnicular railway that leads to the Royal Palace and Chain Bridge. Rooms were fine, staff were competent and friendly, and the breakfast was very good - a wide range of cereals, fruit, yoghurts, meat, bread - even scrambled eggs and sausage! There is a cafe/pub directly opposite the entrance to the hotel, and a very good restaurant as you turn left and walk down the steps - about 1 minute away! This restaurant sells a wide range of Belgian beers, from fruit flavours to delicious Pils on draft, and trappist beers that go up to 12%abv! I also recommend the Fatal restaurant on Vaci Utca, not far from Margaret Bridge and the huge indoor market on the Pest side. I recommend a hop=on, hop off tour bus that takes you round all the sights up to the Old Town and Gellert Hill. We bought a Budapest Card. We didn't use it so it was a complete waste of money. I would NOT recommend this card as tempting as it may sound, as you are unlikely to get your money's worth. There is much to see and do in Budapest and two nights wasn't enough! The Carlton is value for money and superbly situated

An excellent location to see Buda and Pest. Good restaurants down street about 6. Only 5 mins from funicular and chain bridge. The hotel breakfast was very good and comprehensive - superb quality. Used zona taxis to and from airport about 4200 forinths from and 3500 there to and from hotel.

better to stay on pest side of danube - more actgivities located there; hotel is reasonable value, breakfast OK; hotel reception personnel not so helpful unless pressed, and sometimes downright unfriendly!

I think the hotel caters to business travelers and my observation is that the tourist was tolerated. The location is wonderful for walking everywhere.

The Carlton is well located at the foot of the Castle. The reception desk is multi-lingual and efficient. My room was small but convenient and very clean. Breakfast is served in the form of buffet. There is a large choice of food that should please everyone. The Carlton is not a luxury hotel. I recommend it to tourists.

The hotel is quite and clean but is very essential in services, spaces and dimensions of the rooms. It's an ideal place for people who don't expect much from staying in hotel but just a place to rest after a long day passed in the city. The hotel is in the heart of Budapest, very comfortable for walking and visit monuments and places of interest. If you are a good walker you don't need public transportation to see the best of the city!
Italy, Dec 2006
It was perfect! The hotel is very central and there is a bus stop to go to main important place to visit. The room was clean and confortable and very economic 4 stars hotel. I think is the best solution to visit Budapest.

We went in Budapest for a long week end. The standard of the hotel is very good end the position excellent to visit both side of the city. We had e couple bed room looking over the roof of others building and, in a corner, we had a beautiful landscape with the Palace of the Parliament.

This hotel has a good location near Castle Hill and some public transit which we liked. The photos and written info fail to mention the steps necessary to access the hotel from either street! We had a nice room view and the breakfast was ok, but often tables were not cleared for a long time and food not replenished. Lots of people took up tables for 4 when there were only 2 of them. They needed a manager watching out for this. I think they were understaffed. We ate at the Cafe de Paris down the street which was good and they were so nice. Hotel staff were pleasant but perfunctory. The lobby was often full of smokers which we found unpleasant.
