Good value for money for Brussels, and convenient to Gare du Nord. However, the room I had was extremely noisy due to the busy street outside. Breakfast was decent with a good variety of options. If you are only here for the weekend, this is worth considering.

Excellent price and quality for my girl friend and I -- We're college students. By far the nicest hotel/B&B we've stayed in since we've been traveling Europe. 30 euros a night per person. It was clean as could be and well maintained. I would highly recommend Villa Royale for anyone looking for a solid hotel on a budget.

The service was rude and unprofessional at best. The extra bed we requested was broken and never replaced during our entire stay. When we approached the manager about the problem, he burst out yelling, creating a scene for the whole lobby to see. At one point he kicked us out saying we couldn't stay at the hotel any longer. His attitude only changed when we continued to treat him with respect. As a seasoned traveler, I have never encountered anybody in the service industry who was so unreasonable and out of control.

I was in Brussels couple of days and the hotel was one of the best things in the city. Also I liked very much the fact that the guests in the hotel were from all over the world.

I stayed for 3 nights in this place, and I find it very hard to find fault with this Hotel. Its modern, clean, well equiped, spacious, and the receptionist was very helpful. And, above all its very good value. The only down side is the area between Hotel and train station (Noord). It is quite seedy. But, that not the Hotel's fault. I would definitely return to this Hotel.

I'm afraid I@m unable to answer any of the above as Mr Federspiel had pneumonia and was unable to travel. Due to this, would it be possible to have some sort of compensation as I'm sure the room would have been re-sold. I am writing "0" as I don't know the answer.

I stayed in this hotel for two nights and for this period it was okay. The bed was quite "squashy". Room could have been bigger and a little bit cleaner... As the room as to the main street, it was a bit noisy, when the street cars passed... But the place is great as you can walk into old town; shopping street (nieuwe straat) is very close.

We've only stayed for a night and left soon. I wish we had a bit more time to spend it in this great value hotel. Very clean and spacious! Nice location, near metro and gare du noord - the train station. The airport is easily accessible by train.

50 meters from metro. Close to a supermarket and some restaurants. Also nearby there is an Internet point. I took a single room they gave me a big double room and very clean. American Breakfast is very good. Guys at reception are very professional and polite. Only drawback there is no wifi for free. Very confortable if you have to reach grand place, airport and monuments.

The Hotel is located in a rather rough area (to reach the Gare du Nord one has to pass through the Red Light District). Differently from what declared in the website, not all rooms are provided with air conditioning. Mine (and that of my colleague) were not and the room was boiling hot. I asked the reception and was given a very noisy portable air conditioning unit which was not powerful enough the cool down the vrey small room in which I was. I had to keep the window open but that opens on a rather busy street and that made my night unconfortable to say the least. Breakfast too is rather poor and served in a room in urgent need of some serious refurbishment. I would not stay in the hotel again and would not recommend it to anyone (especially on business, as one as to pay for the wireless connection).

Excellent hotel at a decent price. Slightly remotely located from the turistic centre, but within walking distance if you are in a good shape. Otherwise, take the tram from the front of the hotel. Very good and relativly diverse breakfast.

While the plus points for us were value for money ( good rate for a 3 star hotel)& location of the hotel ( proximity to attractions/metro/grocery), a few points to note as follows: the air conditioning in both rooms did not work making the rooms stifling hot during the night. We also had an extremely unpleasant experience during check out, primarily due to the absolute incompetency of the hotel staff: since we had already paid for breakfast for 4 adults, the management agreed the night before that coffee would be available before we leave. However upon arriving downstairs we found that the coffee machine had not even been switched on & the receptionist in charge was extremely unhelpful & not the least bit bothered. Moreover the taxi ordered through the receptionist for 6.15am was instead standing there from 5.45am compelling us therefore to incur an additional payment to the taxi driver as waiting charges.

Ah people! It was NOT possible to find the street! Maps were useless! The hotel itself was great, but it's located in not a good area. At least you'll have to pass by the red district to get there.

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights, the room was clean very spacious for a single traveler but the hotel staff not very welcoming, one receptionist especially very arrogant, with his attitude kinda let down the overall stay. Wifi connection they charge(€5.00 an hour) is actually cheaper than specified on the venere listing, but go round the corner from the hotel and there is an internet cafe for €2.00 an hour. In overall though pretty satisfied with room and cleanliness but would of given a higher rating if not for hotel receptionist.

Hotel receptionists were not gentle, not even helpful. The hotel was not close to the center of the city, but it requires quite twenty minutes walking. It's in a Turkish area of Bruxelles. The breakfast was a little bit poor. My room was large warm and silent.

Hotel is within walking distance from Botanique station. I wouldn't recommend walking from central station, as the roads are steep. Request for a room that is away from the street, so it is quiet. Make sure you bring your own alarm clock. Breakfast is very good!

The Villa Royale Hotel completely met my expectations. It was a pretty, clean hotel with basic services as can be expected for the price. A great location, within good walking distance of the subway and the pretty botanic gardens. We arrived on a very rainy night, later than our scheduled time and the receptionist was very kind and helpful. I'd definitely stay there again and recommend it to other visitors to Brussels.

Clean little hotel, in a not so nice street of Brussels; not a good restaurant around; it is accesible by metro; I booked this hotel as an experiment to see what a 2-star hotel is in the European capital---lesson, stick with the average 3-star; the redeeming quality of this hotel is the very helpful staff and clean room.

Wonderful stay, overall! Some disappointments are relatively noisy room-cause our room is on the street, other rooms may be ok, but our room is slightly noisy- and wireless internet services-not good in our room. But, it is very close to the brussel nord station and very easily connected brussel's most attractive sites. I definitely recommend this hotel to the young couples or budget travelers. Save your money and don't miss the good quality room and bathroom with tub.

This place is a great deal (I paid EUR 55). It's a just a 15-20 minute walk to the main tourist area. The staff were very helpful and breakfast good. I stayed here 3 nights and had to transfer to hotel near the tourist center (for business) that was twice the price with much lower quality rooms and a poor breakfast. I wish I could have stayed at the Ville Royal the whole time. Be sure to take a walk in the Botanical Garden grounds across the street and also try a Turkish pizza on the street just one block to the south of the hotel. One caution: Gard de Nord train station is close but it's a steep uphill climb to the hotel. Taxi's are not always easy to find. Also, the area just around Gard de Nord is seedy (but I think still safe).
