Hotel caters to budget travelers who need to be close to Gard du Midi. Hotel is under renovations and they need to speed up the process. Room door handles were of questionable security, it was not initially clear where the front door of the hotel was as they had three possible entrances and the person at the desk initially was not paying attention to buzz one inside, and the stairs to the rooms are very steep (no elevators). Neighborhood was sketchy as it is close to train station and less affluent residential area. OK place if you're not planning to spend much time there and do not need any extra amenities. Walking distance to Center of Brussels.

I was put on the 3rd floor and there's no lift! Very unsafe exit way in case of emergency - you have to go through a labyrinth of narrow/dangerous ladders! Airconditioning not working. No wardrobe! Maintenance works in the room unfinished - exposed cables/pipes on the wall!

this is a budget hotel. nect to a big railway station. people who are complaining about it clearly haven't been in the like; people complainig about the area, well you're near an international railway station, there are immigrants, it's what you get: it was hardly scarey if you spend any time in inner cities in wherever it is you live. Don't knock it. If you were expecting better, well, OK, but you should have been more clued-in. You could have had a different experience, but it would have cost you loads more. I wouldn't avoid staying here again. i was in Brux for the art and the beer and the party, and this place was easy to find [once i knew where it was. someone's maps, maybe google, were a bit vague]. Result.

The double room looked like a single to share in two, which was slightly awkward since we aren't a couple, so a bit more privacy would have been appreciated. But, hey, pretty good value for the money anyway

The worst hotel I have been stayed. Dirty rooms, coffe machine broken the 2 mornings I stayed in, no elevator, bathroom disgusting, antique beds, not recomended under any circunstances.

The room was extremely over-prized (it was during the seafood fare). The hotel was still a construction site. The room was very tiny, noisy and smelling. No breakfast facilities, nothing that would make me return to this place.

The area the hotel is in is not nice at all. The hotel itself lacks many ameneties and during my two nights stay was very noisy. The room was small, bare and not clean enough. I would definetely not stay there again even if it was free!

The room was spacius and clean. But the TV control didn't work, and when we got another from the receptionist, it didn't work either. Breakfast is included, but there was only coffee and cereal first morning, and coffee, milk, some white bread and cheese the second morning. Very poor. Paris hotels are cheaper for equivalent quality.

The Hotel is clean, comfortable and quiet. The only problem is the location which in the night is not that "safe".

Surroundings not great, but quite pleased with the hotel room (perfectly clean & quite, though window was facing the back), breakfast (basic, but good quality) and service at reception. Can´t ask for more for that price.

Hotel was clean and staff were friendly. Layout is a bit hip/modern. Rooms was large with plenty of space. But its biggest drawback is the location -- not at all safe at night.

Well placed on the ring road. Easy to find if you don't miss the turn, but even if you do, just carry on round. Not a great area but 15 minute walk from the centre. Our room was smoky but was aired. Rooms recently refitted if a bit spartan and breakfast somewhat sparse but fine for the price and alright for a few nights. Stairs very steep. We had to ring to get in but 24-hour reception. Plenty of cheap local cafés.

There was a loud dripping sound inside the wall all night. The room had a funky smell to it. It was rather loud, specifically outside noise. Lastly, while getting ready to leave, water started spilling out of the ceiling through a light fixture, soaking me.

Horrible. The room was next to a main railway line and each night, I was worken up (!) by a sulphur smell. Staff didn't seem to care about the smell. Shower was mouldy. The advertised laundry service did not exist, the corridors smelt of urine and the floor slanted so much that the "nordic" bed (ok, from ikea) was like sleeping on a hillside. I have probably stayed in 250 hotels in the last 7 years, and this, without doubt was the worst. On top of that, it was ludricrously expensive & they pre-charged, so early check-out was not an option. TIP: I stayed 1 more night in Brussels - I went to the ATLAS - this was infinitely better - and half the price. I would recommend the ATLAS to anyone looking for good value 3 star accomodation in Brussels.

I dont think the employees were polite to the customers! If you need to use a hairdryer, then you need to go down to collect it, and you need to bring it down back after using it. the most stupid thing a hotel can ask from its customers.

The room was normaly clean but I saw a big cockroach walking around. The room was really very small. The breakfast was very poor. Late in the evening and early in the morning you heard the noise of the trains. But the worst thing are the surroundings of the Hotel, ubly and full of strange people... I would say even dangerous for a girl alone. I won't be back to that hotel and if possible I will avoid that district.

The hotel is not in a good location, and is not safe. My portable computer has been stolen from the room, in 3 more rooms things were stolen – computers, photograph machines, mobile phones…, and the Solys hotel didn’t assume their responsibilities, I don’t recommend this hotel to anyone. You can find a much better and safe hotel, in Brussels, for less money and better quality, in a better place, and, for sure, with a more conscientious and responsable manager.

Having stayed at affordable hotels on numerous occations, I must say this is probably one of the most nightmarish places I've ever stayed at. While living at affordable prices, one still expects a certain standard - and most hotels will keep doing their best to give what they can for what they are paid. Having an air-condition out of order is of course something that could accidentally happen to anyone. But when the hot water was missing for two days, they could have at least offered to give us another room. We figured it might have had something to do with the hallway light being out, but we never found out. After having addressed the reception three times - both members of the party - the third and last time we talked to them face to face (and not by hotel phone) we caught the receptionist sitting watching TV. This was after having promised three times to come up and check on the, seemingly, easy problems. The staff would not give us a new room, they would not refund or compensate for the horrendous service and room amenities we received, and they were not very helpful when we came with what we thought was a couple of simple and easy problems to overcome.
