The staff were very helpful, the rooms good, although the TVs didn't particularly want to work (could only get BBC world news). The location in relation to the Grand Place etc excellent- HOWEVER- there is a restaurant opposite that is open from 6pm to 5am and the noise kept us awake both nights- so ask for a room at the back!

There was no detailed description of the room offered, so I could not make an informed decision. It turned out on the spot that I will be located in the basement, with a window facing a very narrow and dark yard, and the room has two floors. It would have been fair to know this in advance!

The hotel is perfectly located in the heart of touristic area of Brusseles. The staff were helpful. The size of room considering the price was acceptable. One downside was the internet price which was 10 Euros/Day. If you need free connection, McDonalds nearby provides a free WiFi!

Hotel is ideally located for Grand Place, Tour buses, Metro and large selection of excellent restaurants and cafes. The nearest ones are within 30m of the hotel. If its seafood your after then Rue de Bouchers is within a 10 minutes walk. The hotel staff were courteous, polite and helpful at all times. Having arrived hours before check in time we were allowed to leave our bags in locked room until our return later in the day. We did the same after checking out. We were surprised at the size, quality and cleanlinless of our room and would have no hesitation in returning in the future.

The location is awesome. Right near the square and all the action. There's really no reception area, as its part of the restaurant, but its still very nice. We had a great view of the square from our window. Rooms are smaller, but for sleeping its fine.

On the plus side, hotel is very near grand place. very quiet location. The old gentleman at reception is very warm. Negative- the room is damp and furnitures very old and dated. bed is uncomfortable and pillows are tiny. the comforter is very dirty and full of stains. internet at 5euro per hour is extremely expensive. Tv channels are very few. No cnn or bbc news. bathroom shower is enclosed only with a curtain so bathroom floor becomes very wet.

Located mere steps from the Grand Place and within walking distance of almost all of central Brussels' main attractions, the first huge advantage of this hotel is its location. It was great to end a night of dining and drinking and not have to deal with transit or cabs; but rather stroll through the illuminated Grand Place. We spent two nights at Alma and the staff was always friendly and helpful. For its location and price, the rooms were surprisingly very clean and well appointed. As a budget traveler, I've found that one often sacrifices quality for location. Not so with Alma. The only reason I would not recommend this hotel is because I would not want their rates to increase. The price to value ratio is excellent.

Starting with the negative: The room was very spacious but in fact very "uncosy", with perhaps 4 m to the roof, huge windows, naked grayish walls and relatively sparse furniture in a style that made me think of airports in the seventies. Also the room was on the cold side but not cold enough to complain about and perhaps understandable with as sudden shift in temperature to the minus side of the Celsius scale. The huge window opening to a small street in the city center contributed to some nose from people in the street during night. There was no useful lobby. Internet access worked excellently, but the price of 5 Euro for 1 our is on the robbery level. On the positive side: The location is terrific close to Grand place and the Central station, the place is clean and well kept with decent but perhaps overpriced breakfast buffet. The staff was friendly. And the bottom line of course – the price during the weekend was quite all right.

A newly renovated hotel deeply inside the centre of Bruxelles!!! We spent only one night in the hotel but we have appreciated the cleanless and the new furnitures of the rooms, the silence of the room and the very central position of the hotel. 3 minutes walking to "Grand Place", 5 minutes walking to the Cathedral, "Manneken Pis" and to the others monuments of the oldtown. Recommended!

The hotel is ideally located in the heart of Brussels, 3 minutes walk to Grand Place and 5 minutes walk to the Central Station. The room was really quite and clean and the staff at the reception very polite, smiley and helpful; I asked the receptionist if he knows whether there is a strike in the trains and he immediately called to check. I didn't like the fact that we were paying 150 euros per night and breakfast was not included. We knew that in advance but I think it is outrageous for this price the breakfast not to be included. There was no need to access internet, so I cannot comment on that.

One of the gentlemen at the front desk was absolutely rude when asked about getting an iron for the room. He was belligerent and rude, I was glad his shift was over when we came back to the hotel. Other than that experience, the rest of the staff was nice.

I strongly recommend this hotel. Its location is excellent, only one hundred meters from the Grand Place, on a shady side-street. The price of a double room is high on weekdays but moderate at weekends. Buffet breakfast is included in the price. The staff of the reception desk and breakfast room is gently and helpful.

The hotel is pretty well located, on a walking distance from majors touristic attractions. Besides being close to the busy Grand Place and surroundings, it's amazingly quiet giver it's location on a small street without car traffic. The main flaw is that Internet access is quiet expensive. The staff is for sure professional. However, it could have been more warm. Overall it's for sure a great value for money.

Very clean and efficient. Very friendly reception. Perfect location - really just a minute or two to Grande Place. Loads of nice restaurants close by (went to Giuseppe's for pizza - very nice and good value) Nice buffet breakfast was included in price. Pity it doesn't seem to have a bar, but then it is surrounded by them! Been to Brussels many times - this was the best hotel to stay in. Thoroughly recommended.

The employees adfirmed that I cannot use my Visa card because it is Visa Electron......but my card is a Visa card AND Visa Electron. About the surrounding I think they are not so good. The hotel is very near the Grand Place, but it is plenty of etnic restaurants and so plenty of people! It is good to stay only a night..... I paid also the breakfast (3 euros, no problem) but I don't understand why it is not present in the receipt of the bill!

A decent place to stay. Slightly costly. Quiet rooms, good breakfast. Downside: the atmosphere is somewhat sterile and they charge for wireless internet. Free WLAN should slowly become a standard especially in business hotels at this price point. Much cheaper hotels round the corner (like the "Mozart") have free WLAN...

I had an odd room; it had a small desk area and the bathroom, then a small (and a little dangerous to navigate) stairway took me up to the bedroom. The bathroom had plenty of room, so I don't know why they used such a small shower - typical for Europe. I couldn't turn around without hitting the handle and either freezing or scorching myself. There's not really a lobby and the breakfast area was adequate. Food was average, light continental. Location was excellent, right in the heart of Grand Place. The wireless access was 30/day 50/week, but I got my money back because it worked horribly. This is the reason I wouldn't return - I need reliable internet access when traveling for business. BTW, I had some friends at the Ibis down the street and it appeared to be a little nicer, including larger lobby with bar, etc. Wish I would've stayed there.

Liked the locations of this hotel. Great for the main square, restaurants and connections (rail and metro). Most areas of interest were on the door step or just a short walk. If you like clean, stylish, modern designer interiors and to be both close enough and quietly placed to the attractions then this is for you.

Service was bad. I reported that the volume of tv is very high, and I cannot adjust it. First I was told that I cannot use the remote control properly, and when the person at reception could not adjust the volume either he told me that it is not loud, and that's it! I stayed 3 nights and could not use tv. No minibar in the room, and no bar or possibility to buy snacks at the hotel. Toilet seat so close to the shower that you have to keep feet on the shower area. No shower walls, only a curtain that is so close to the shower that it gets "attached" to your skin all the time.

I travelled with my mother, this was our first time in Brussels. The hotel was very easy to find, very central. Once you come out of Gare Centrale you head for Grand Place and just turn left onto rue des eperonniers at the bottom of the hill, it's just a 5min walk. Surrounding streets are full of restaurants and art shops. The hotel was spotless and very quiet. They have 2 lifts, one of which only fits 2 people, so if you have lots of bags it may be better to wait for the bigger one! Breakfast was great, a self-service buffet and you have as much as you want (you cannot take any food from the room, but you can buy it). The breakfast room was not huge but big enough. There was only 1 seat in the foyer just opposite reception, but was fine as we did not hang around the hotel much. The staff were friendly, there was no problem leaving our bags the day we arrived (we came a bit early and room was not ready) and the day we left (we checked out but our flight was not for a few hours) so that really helped. On Saturday morning, the cleaning lady knocked on our door at 9am, which was a bit early for us, especially on the weekend! Other than that they were fine. Room had TV, which was tricky to work (we are satellite novices), wardrobe (only 3 hangers but loads of space), safe, 2 chairs. Ensuite was nice, huge washtub, shower was on wooden slabs built into the floor. The shower curtain could be pulled back to give plenty of room. Toilet had an old-fashioned pull-string but also a button on the wall, so once we realised what it was that was grand. The ensuite had mosaic tiles, and a couple started to come off after a bit of walking on them, but no big deal. Also keep windows closed when possible to avoid mosquito bites. All in all an excellent hotel and value, i will come again!

This was a fantastic hotel. Nice accommodations. Wonderful staff. Soooo close to the Grand Place and quite close to train station. Everything for a great trip in quick walking distance. Amazing quality for the price. Couldn't have possibly done better and would stay here time and time again. Only thing was that I had a two story room. Stairs would be tricky for someone health challenged. If this would not be ok, you should mention on booking.

Clean, convienent, and modern hotel. We were given a very large room on the top floor with somewhat of a view of the Grand Place. The hotel is convienetly located to tourist destinations, but it is far enough off the Grand Place to be quiet and not too busy. Staff was very friendly and accomodating, but had trouble locating extra towels and pillows. Hotel was difficult to find from the train station. Directions on website say "a 5 minute walk" but actual street names would have helped.

Hotel clean, very central, good quality breakfast. We were lucky enough to have a 5th floor room: very silent, quite big, with a nice view over the roofs of the gran place. Well, location 100 meters from the grand-place, not 20.... Everything new and not "smelly". Even the stairs. Breakfast very good - you will not be hungry, big breakfast room. We got a big room (107), there are smaller rooms, and some have bath. A/C works well, important during the summer. Not a fancy room, no fridge, but a big safe for lap-tops (40*40) The entrance to the street is blocked during the night, that's why the hotel is quiet. Many restaurants in the next street, take the second Italian from the right side (towards the grand place, where you will find Greek restaurants also). We paid 77 euros only - double room , (April 2007) - so price vs quality mite change if price will rize. I know the price is higher during the summer - and already made a reservation to October for 2 nights - the price is 120 euros and still good compare to the others. Very easy to find, so what are you waiting for ? Book the hotel !!!

The hotel was decent. The only problem is that the star rating is off. This is actaully a 3 star hotel. The price seems to be set on the 4 star rating and the hotel is not worth that. Everything was good...the breakfast, reception and room. It's in a very good location to the sites and not far from the Central Station (maybe a 10 minute walk). I would stay at the hotel again, but only if they change the star rating system.

Very central hotel, very welcoming and a lovely breakfast with a difference - good variety, good quality. However don't expect public areas where you can lounge or have a coffee.. no such thing at the hotel. But otherwise, it's very practical, 3 minutes to the square, lovely quiet road and efficient service. Rooms are spacious and clean, and so are the bathrooms. Ps..ignore reviews that state the hotel is a building site, it was done by end of December when I was there!

Hotel is situated very close to Grand Place. It is completely new renovated. Staff is very kind and helpful. Breakfast room is too small and breakfast could be better (only one sort of cheese, salami, no scrambled eggs, no tomatoes or other fresh vegetables). But very fresh and delicious croissants. Nice personal touches (for example, little box of Belgian chocolates on arrival). From outside, the hotel is slightly lacking in character, but that's not an issue for me. The only thing that detracted from the stay was that the hotel was in the final stages of refurbishment and therefore the public areas were not quite finished. Otherwise the hotel was great, the rooms were clean, well appointed and the hotel is ideally situated for central Brussels and the Grand Place.
