Ter Brughe is situated in the peaceful old quarter of St. Gillis, along one of the most picturesque channels of Bruges. The 4-star hotel is located near the 14th-century Augustine Bridge.

Built in 1553, today the house is a listed building, so that it is not possible to install a lift within its walls. The oldest part of the Ter Brughe Hotel is the vaulted cellar, which was originally built to serve as a warehouse for the goods brought here along the channels. Nowadays, it is the magnificent setting for the breakfast room, where tourists and business travelers to Bruges are invited to enjoy their start to the day.

Amenities of this non-smoking hotel in Bruges include the hotel bar, open all day until midnight, complimentary wireless Internet access in public areas, secretarial and translation services, the relaxing and quiet terrace in the inner courtyard, spa treatments including massage, and the beauty salon on the ground floor of the building.

Please note: Guests should contact the hotel about possible seasonal closures.

This is a very attractive hotel in a good location at a reasonable price. The hotel serves an ample breakfast and the common areas are nicely appointed. There were two downsides--the front desk people are simply not warm and welcoming at all and our room had a strange smell at times. As you will see in other reviews, the walls are not well sound-proofed so if hearing some noise from other rooms bothers you, beware.

The hotel is really good, the decoration is wonderfully old-fashioned. We had a lovely room overlooking the canal. The breakfast is excellent , the staff very nice and helpful. The only problem is that you can hear very well what is going on in the next room or the room above. So , do bring earplugs !

Our stay at the hotel was very pleasant. Parking is not very simple. Since it is a historical building there is no elevator in the hotel.

My husband and I stayed in the Hotel Ter Bruge for three nights from the 12th to the 15th of August 2011. We stayed in the deluxe room which overlooked the canal. The room was very comfortable and clean and the staff in the hotel were friendly and efficient. The breakfast was lovely each morning. Bruge is a beautiful city with a great athmosphere. I would recommend sampling the restaurants that serve Flemish food which is extremely tasty. The tour of the Half Maan brewery is also well worth doing.

Lovely hotel in remarkably old building, abutting canal, and located close enough to center of town for an easy walk but far enough away to be quiet. The only noise problem was from the adjacent room -- some of the walls in this many hundred year-old buildingare very thin, leaving us expecting a flood when the toilet next door flushed and letting us hear the cough and snoring of the people next door (along with their conversations -- privacy maintained by our not speaking Dutch!). The breakfast was pleasant and filling.

very quiet hotel with an old style and relaxing atmosphere, less than 10' walking distance from the main city square. Friendly and helpful staff. Perfect for honeymooners as well as for persons looking for quiet and privacy, either on business or vacation. I would not recommend such a lovely place to families with young children.

great location, beautiful hotel, very nice breakfast....BUT..walls are paper thin and it was VERY noisy. could not get any sleep..and the real kicker was, the hotel DID NOT give us our wake up call on day of departure and we ended up missing the only train. that was a HORRIBLE experience.

We wanted to stay in a hotel which reflected the character of Brugges which the Hotel Ter Brughe did. Though it looked like an old building from the outside, the room was full of modern conveniences. The view from the room was breathtaking and I'm not sure, but did they stage that swan in the canal just for us? The only thing which could use some improvement was the breakfast. It was adequate but not outstanding. We would still stay there again.

Lovely building with nice breakfast, walls were a little thin (could hear someone snoring quite clearly one night) Unfortunately whilst we were there a fire alarm went off at 04:30 - 05:00 early Sunday morning which was unfortunate.. however we got no apology or explanation from the day or night receptionist for the incident the next day (which I thought was unprofessional) - I had to ask.

We would have welcomed: Tea and coffee making facilities in our splendid room we would have welcomed information about the hotel bar which we only discovered as we were leaving. Perhaps the information folder in the room needs up-dating. The breakfast was excellent - once we discovered the system.

The Ter Bruge is a boutique hotel in a perfect location , just 5 min walk away from the tourist bustle of charming Bruges. The room was elegantly furnished as were the public spaces. The breakfast room window opened onto the canal where ducks came by to enjoy bread crumbs tossed by guests! Lovely staff , we'd stay there again with pleasure.

Ter Brughe is a very attractive hotel. The breakfast room is at canal level and you can watch the ducks and swans swim by. The rooms are large for the age of the Hotel and very nice. The central courtyard is really nice. It is a short walk to the sights and a 1/2 hour walk to the train station. The temperature was 28c + while we were there and the room got kind of hot but that was unusual.

Absolutely loved this quaint, authentic hotel, from the heavy old key to the furnishings and the view to the wonderful ambiance in the breakfast room. We had room # 40, the only one in the hotel with a window bumpout and seat. The bright morning views of the canal and bridges was magical. Can't be beat!!

Although it does not reserve 4 stars, it is areally nice, very well located, authentic, more or less kind of boutique hotel. Try to reserve a room on canal side. Breakfast is satisfactory. Heart of the city(Markt) is just in 5 minutes walking distance. It is possible to park in front of the hotel, free for 4 hours, if you can expand the hour disc every 4 hour it become totally free :)

The hotel itself was excellent, with no complaints at all. The location of the hotel is again very good being situated next the cannel, although I feel it might get a bit smelly in the summer months. If I was to make any negative comments it would be that we travelled by car and parked in the station car park (very reasonably priced but very difficult to find in the dark in rush hour) then got a taxi to the hotel. This our fourth pre Christmas trip to Bruges and we go for the atmosphere and shopping, so from our point of view it would be good to have some allocated parking nearer the hotel.

I am a well seasoned traveler and I honestly want to give high marks to this hotel due to its great character. The location is fantastic, close enough to everything but quiet enough to enjoy a good night's sleep. My room was really beautiful with wooden beams and matching classic furniture. Service was good too, pretty straight forward and helpful. Good breakfast. Good value hotel. Highly recommended.

A charming hotel in a convenient location an easy 5-10 minute walk from the main sites of Brugge. The continental breakfast was provided was good. As the property is older the sound proofing wasn't great and the bathroom wasn't very clean in our room. However, the hotel is convenient and was good value for money.

I have never loved a hotel as much as this one! It was perfect--the room was terrific with fascinating antiques, the people could not have been kinder or more helpful, the location is my favorite (after walking completely around the city), if you stay on bottom level you can almost touch the water of the canal! My 20 year old daughter loved it as much as I did. I hope to return someday!

This was my second trip to Bruges. The hotel and staff were amazing, the room was a very good size with comfortable bedding and lots of storage space. Don't let the lack of lifts turn you off to this property! The location is perfect, just far enough away from the hustle and bustle to be quiet but a convienent walk to Markt and the other attractions. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, I would return without a doubt!
