The owner was really friendly, and helpful, the heating was not working initially, but they have repaired it immediately after I have asked for it. The breakfast was great and abundant. The hotel is quite close to the center, halfway from the train station. everything is within walking distance. The only thing I could note for improvement was that the hotel itself was a little bit run down: some strange smell in the staircase (which they had tried to overcome with some nice aromas - still you could feel the original), and while the room was well cleaned, there were certain parts that no cleaning could have helped further, but should have been replaced, namely the corners of the shower being black, toilet, and other parts of the bathroom... My overall stay was good, but as I'm quite keen on the clean feeling of the bathroom in hotels, it was quite a bit of a minus for me.

We booked 1 apt and 1 "Standard Double Room". The apt was great and really suited requirements - however the hotel decided that it would be more convenient to give us a "delux twin" room in the same building as the apt so we could be near the rest of our group. However we were very disappointed to discover the "twin deluxe" contained two very small single beds! Also, given travel restrictions on liquids we were surprised & disappointed to find no shower gel provided - very unusual in this day & age!

Was a little difficult to find-down a very narrow side street with no parking. Parked in an underground carpark-got lost finding that! The pedestrian entrance/exit to car park was indeed close to the hotel. The stairs to our room on the 1st floor were very steep and narrow-not for those not too mobile. The bathroom only had a sliding door which meant not much privacy. Breakfast very good and a helpful and friendly waitress.

The hotel is situated in a great location, 5-10 minutes walk to the Belfry & market square. The hotel is very quaint, the rooms are tastefully decorated. The mattress was very soft, not to my liking but I guess that comes down to personal preference. The steep stairs would not be suited for an older traveller or someone with a disability. The breakfast included a decent continental breakfast to set you up for the day ahead sightseeing and beer drinking.

I would have given a higher grade if we had the heating working the first night in our room and if the owner would have offered at least a discount for the inconvenience. We woke up in the middle of the night freezing (it was february) and it was very difficult to get back to sleep. In the morning, we foud out that the heating was off (broken). They immediately fixed it but the first night was ruined. We asked for a discount (it should have been offered by them, in my opinion) but the owner refused telling us that it was not his fault (as if it was my choice to freeze all night). I'm used to a different approach to customers. The room is very small and the breakfast plain.

Leopold is definitely a B &B, not a hotel. The people running the hotel were very nice and helpful. Our room was on the first floor and extremely noisy - anyone on the street could be heard, and if you closed the windows it would be way too hot. The bedding was not really up to standards. In the family room the larger bed was basically a futon, very hard. Sheets felt sandy - not a pleasant feeling. The bathroom was quite adequate. All in all, I think for the money it was not a great value. We could have probably done as well in a better hotel. But it wasn't terrible either. The overall setting is charming and the location is fine.

It was expensive for a 2 star hotel, but it did include a good breakfast and accommodation seems to be expensive in Bruges. The room was small but adequate; some noise when the market sets up in the square below on a Saturday morning and one night we also had very loud music from a nearby party but were assured that this wasn't normal. It was good having the bar downstairs and we ate there a couple of times. Good location for sight seeing and a comfortable walk from the station. I would add this to the directions from the station: come out of the main exit and walk diagonally across the square to the lights, look left through the park to see a big, square red brick building (the concert hall) and walk through the park towards it, almost parallel to the main road. When you reach the end of the path you are almost opposite the bar of the hotel.

Lovely hotel, very accommodating management. Really nice breakfast - we'd recommend playing with the egg boiling machine. The spiral staircase is very steep, but good fun if you are fit enough to go up and down it - not an option for anyone with mobility issues. Cute dog seemed very placid and friendly. Parking in the Centrum was incredibly close. It is secure and fairly reasonably priced so is a good option.

As we were staying for five nights, we were upgraded to the apartment next door to the hotel, which was comfortable, convenient and well equipped. It is situated in a narrow, cobbled street (t' Hoogste van Brugge) within easy walking distance of the town centre. If you arrive by car, don't be misled by the Leopold restaurant on 't Zand square which is marked as the hotel entrance on most maps, but which, in fact, is not connected to the hotel. You need to drive down t' Hoogste van Brugge, unload luggage, then drive on to park at the station, which is only 10 minutes' easy walk away. We left our car there for the whole stay for €2.50 per day, which is considerably cheaper than the underground car park on t' Zand. You don't need a car in Bruges; it's all walkable, and it's cheap and much more convenient to take one of the very frequent trains to places like Ghent, which we would also recommend for a day trip. Bruges is a beautiful town to enjoy on foot - the Information Office has a booklet with suggested walks - and the Leopold made a pleasant, convenient base.

We were delighted with our stay. Many reviewers comment on the steep narrow stairs. These would not, I suppose, pass modern UK building regulations, but they are not unusual for Northern Belgium/Holland and we are only talking about one short flight. One or two others have commented on the unfriendliness of the staff. Again, I suspect this is cultural thing. Flemish/Dutch people sometimes come over that way if you are not used to their ways - think Yorkshire people ;) We found the staff extremely accommodating and helpful and the atmosphere of the hotel very convivial. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms and don't expect a huge breakfast (perfectly adequate though). For the price we paid, however, excellent value overall and we should certainly recommend this hotel to others and use the hotel again if we ever visited Brugge/Bruges again.

The room used was not cleaned in a approprite way, there was "mosquitos" in the room. The hand towel was not changed during the three day that We stayed. The quality price is very poor. 75 euros a day for that kind of room is unacceptable. We do not recommend this hotel and We will not return there again.

Good for a short break - not the largest of rooms but very comfy bed and clean. noise inside the hotel was minimal but as our rooms were overlooking the 't Zand square it was noisy outside. Lovely self service buffet breakfast, owned by friendly people. Perfect location for exploring Brugges - only been for a day befpre and this was good for a short break. Will return to this hotel on my next trip to Brugges. Narrow cobbled street outside to load/unload luggage but on leaving we walked our cases to the station carpark where I'd left the car for 3 and a half days (about 10 min walk). Only downside was the steep and narrow staircase to the bedrooms.

This hotel is small and nice. The employees are quite pleasant and you feel in a familiar lodge. My room was quite big and nice, in a very nice and silent street, but quite close to the city center. Also, the breakfast is included and it was good and really complete and you will start the day in a very pleasant room So, for sure, that I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay some days in Bruges and I will repeat if I can

My wife and I had a lovely 3 day stay in Bruges and in Hotel Leopold and our room was excellent. It was spacious and quiet and the breakfast was good too. If you don't like dogs then you might be put off by the resident boxer, who was quiet and well behaved, but was lying on the floor near where we had breakfast. The hotel was only 10 minutes on foot from the station and very close to all the town centre attractions. The only downside, which wasn't the fault of the hotel, was that we got bitten by mosquitoes during the night because we hadn't expected them and didn't have any stuff with us - we left the window open because it was warm.

Hotel quite well located, only a short walk from the main square. Hotel owner not the most welcoming of people. Rooms are small but beds were comfortable. Breakfast is a bit of a farce. Cramped area, the only hot food available is boiled eggs, which you have to do yourself using a manual timer, along with everybody else, so you have to hope that the egg you put in is the same egg you get out. Only a small two slice toaster to do all the guests at the same time. Best to avoid the 9am rush. Would not recommend this hotel to families with small children or to people who find it difficult to manage stairs, as the hotels stairs are very steep and tight. However, for a couple who are able-bodied would be no problem.

We had good correspondence with the hotel management prior to coming. Easy to contact with prompt reply. The hotel was in a good location, close to the city centre although we initially had difficulty to find the place. It's close to the train station and it was within walking distance to most places. Need to be careful up the steep steps into the above floors where the rooms are. The furnishing was average but the place was very clean and quiet. The room was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was good and quite a lot of variety to choose from. Value for money. I would come here again to stay.

This hotel is at the Zand Square, which sits atop the town's underground parking garage and across from the train station. It was the perfect location for us, especially since we arrived by car. From we were a few steps away from several bars and restaurants, and could walk anywhere in the city. The owners were very friendly. The breakfast was included in our rate and it was good (bread, cheeses, cold cuts, eggs, cereal, etc). The owners' dog (Box) which roams around the reception area looks menacing, but is extremely quiet and friendly. He will completely ignore you unless you want to play with him, something which will make him very happy. Our room was tight, but comfortable. Bathroom looked like it had been recently remodeled. Our room was on the second floor, and the spiral stairway that lead us up was extremely narrow and steep. It wasn't a problem for us, but I could see where some travelers could have some issues with it. I would definitely stay again at this hotel.

We felt right at home when we were greeted at the check in counter by the sound of the owner's sleeping dog, who spent his days on his bed next to the desk. The owner was helpful during our stay, lending us different items we needed. The room was very modern, clean, and comfortable. OUr room was over the common room where breakfast was served so we were woken by the setting up of breakfast but we didn't mind because we needed to get down to eat between 8:00- 9:30. Otherwise it was very quiet. The breakfast was included and there was a wide variety of fresh items. The location was ideal- half way between city centre and the train station; making it easy to walk every where.

Try to ask for a room with a window overlooking t'Zand - those are the best rooms. Avoid the internal rooms as they are too dark and small and its frustrating not being able to see the light of day. The hotel was infested with giant mosquitoes. Our first night was sleepless and we had to spend it chasing mosquitoes and squashing them against the wall or ceiling. The second night, we were given a mosquito killer and we made sure to spray the room before going out in the evening. There is no lift, and the stairs are worse than those to climb to the top of the Belfry, so climbing them up with luggage is a horrible experience that left me with an aching back for 3 whole days. Other than that, the hotel was ok - good location, helpful staff, very good breakfast.

If you like dogs, you will have a big black one going around in the room during your breakfast, while you will be eating in some stinking plates. If you are clean persons, choose another hotel. The welcome from a guy was good, but the day after we were about to be kicked out by the lady, for an early check-out at 10:00, and she was really unpleasant when we asked for 10 minutes more. Asking them for keeping our bags for some hours could make anxious even two skilled travellers like us..

I was a bit worried about staying in a 2 star place for 5 days, however, Hotel Leopold was fantastic. It was clean, quiet, comfortable and spacious. The owners are very house-proud, and it was far better than 2 stars. We were very, very happy with our stay in our little flat. The (included) breakfast was extremely good. It was also in a perfect location- about 15mins walk to the train station, and close to the main shopping street leading to Market Square. We would love to stay again and would highly recommend this place.

Charming hotel right in old Bruges. An easy walk from the train station, or an easy bus ride. The Tourist information center is about a block away, and the nearby main street is the main, fun shopping street. A short walk from the main square and many attractions. I will recommend this hotel to everyone visiting brugge. nice people, great breakfast, very close to the city and especially close to the train station. I will stay there again! Note: I went on winter, so maybe during summer the noise could be an issue. There is no lift to the upper floors and internet conection (at least in the second floor) is very bad (it is not included you have to pay 5euros for 2hours)

The owners of the hotel went out of there way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The rooms were spotlessly clean and far more spacious than I could have imagined.

Very pleasant hotel at walking distance from all the city's attractions. Spotless and quiet room, a bit on the small side though.

We stayed in the hotels 3 storey house around the corner from hotel and had breakfast in the hotel each day( more than enough choice). The house was just perfect for the weekend as we were with friends, so able to relax and chill out with a few drinks in the evenings prior to eating out, although we could have dined in. The hospitality and service from Corry and Reginald was superb, we were made to feel welcome. We would definately recommend to friends and look forward to returning again.

Excellent hotel located within the historic centre of town. The service was great and my only regret was that I wasn't staying for a longer time.

I can safely say that Hotel Leopold is a true hidden gem in Brugge. The owners are very welcoming and it felt like having a home away from home. I will be back as soon as I can !!

It's a great location although it's not easy to find this small street. We got a huge room with 2 double beds (although there were just 2 of us). The hotel is very nice with lots of small details in interior design that my girlfriend loved.

Brilliant location & excellent for the price.the lady owner was most welcoming & helpful when we phoned to say we would be late.Great breakfast. you need to know that the t Zand public cark park is directly below the square where the hotel is located and that there is a back entrance on a street parallel if the front is closed. ask at any bar if in doubt. Fabulous dog too. only negative...very steep staircase as it is an old building.

Hotel Leopold is an excellent hotel. Breakfast is included with ample choices of cold cuts, fruits, cereals, egg and coffee. The bedroom is a little small for double occupancy. But there is kitchen facilities where you can actually do home-style cooking (after being away from home for a long time is a welcome feature)or heat up any left overs and save on your budget. For a first timer, the location is difficult to find but it is actually very near to all the nice places, market square, church, etc. And for a bonus, they do have free internet access to check your email.
