Karos was a last resort as all our first choices were booked up (because of the Jazz week?). Found it by chance on venere.com site and made the reservation. From other people's reviews was not expecting a great deal but we were very pleasantly surprised. It's in a good location off t'Zand about 10-15 mins walk from the train station and less to the bus station. We were checked in by a fairly grumpy but very efficient receptionist. The public areas of the hotel are decorated in quirky ways - good pictures and photos. Free copies of Flanders Today available - always worth a read. On our way to our room we found the indoor swimming pool. The room was clean and comfortable but we couldn't open the windows. Our room overlooked a sort of patio area so this may have been a security issue. However, a fan was provided so it wasn't too stuffy. Breakfast was on offer in two separate dining rooms. There was a really good range of food available, the staff were friendly and efficient and the coffee was drinkable. On our way to breakfast we greeted some of the Domestic staff who were very friendly. Overall, I would have no hesitation in recommending Karos and would certainly stay there again.

Although near a big street, excellent location, 5mn walk ti market place. Parking must be avoided, little and difficult to drive in (public parking 5mn walk). Nice roome, well heated (perhaps to much, good welcoming. Breakfast until 10H30, they accepted at 10H45. Price a bit high but the city is expensive so it looks normal

We chose this hotel primarily because it offered accommodation for one night, which was all we needed. It was a bit out of town for our liking, but by making our way to it at least we got to see a part of Bruges that we might not otherwise have seen. The hotel receptionist was very nice and helpful and the room was OK for what we wanted it for. There was a strange, unpleasant, sulphurous, smell towards the rear of the ground floor, but I presume that was due to the proximity of the swimming pool. Overall, not a bad place to stay for what we paid. My girlfriend was far from happy, however, to find that another guest (we think we know who it was) had stolen a piece of toast that she had left cooking in the toaster while she had her cereal at breakfast time, but we wouldn't let that put us off staying here again.

We had a very bad experience with this Hotel.....mainly with what was supposed to be provided and what actually was. To start my experience, I had reserved a parking space there as instructed, but when we checked in, there wasn't any. That by itself was irritating, but what happened afterwards just got worse. When we found no spot available, the desk clerk pointed to a space directly across from the Hotel and told us to park there until a space was available the following day - which we did. Within an hour, we had received a ticket for 30E for parking in a "residents only" space, yet we had parked exactly where we were told to park!! When we brought back in the ticket, the clerk told us to just ignore the ticket and she would 'make a call' which again we did. Little did we know that we were being actually advised to just plainly not pay the ticket at all and go on about our merry way! We were presented with the ticket again at check-out as well. The second thing was their supposedly 'wireless service'. According to their adverts, you can expect wireless in every room. That is also not true - we were in an attic room ( which by itself was very nice altho the floors could have been cleaned better) their router system does not work there at all. I was advised that I could come down into the lobby/bar area and use my laptop. That was not what we had booked for - 'in the room' means just that - not in the lobby. Also, their website shows pictures and talks about their pool - that was closed when we were there due to maintenance we were told - yet, during the entire time we were there, there never was anyone working on it. The breakfast bar was barely satisfactory, the food wasn't re-filled in a very timely manner and I don't believe that there were enough staff to keep up with the number of guests. The condition of the Hotel basically left a lot to be desired as well. We were on the 2nd floor and the carpet in the hallways were so stained and had a horrible

This hotel is very expensive for what you get but Brugge is not a cheap place to stay. We received a slightly unhelpful reception when we first arrived but subsequently (change of staff) we were made to feel more welcome. I have to say that in general the staff were friendly and helpful. The shower was terrible, barely a dribble and varying between scalding and freezing. The room was clean and comfortable but the bath and shower definitely needed a refit. The walls are also pretty thin. The hotel carpets and decor were also passed their 'use by date'. Breakfast was disappointing as they told us at 9.30 that most items were finished despite breakfast actually concluding at 10.30. The swimming pool was good though as it was empty both times we used it. If I was to stay in Brugge again I would spend more money for better accomodation!
