Hotel Reviews Karel de Stoute

Charming old building ( 600 years old ) with very caring and helpful owners. After hours ( in our case past 5:00pm ), there are NO public facilities available other than a very small lobby. As others have pointed out, it is a shame that the entire property is furnished with IKEA furnishings -- it detracts from the overall experience. The hotel is very convenient to all the sights. The owners could not have been more welcoming and helpful.

Very welcoming hotel with very friendly staff and owner.Position superb-near the main square but wonderfully peaceful. Lovely breakfast -with eggs cooked to order. We were very satisfied with all aspects of our stay.

we came to brugge to celebrate my wifes 40th birthday and had a fabulous stay. I cannot recommend this beuatiful city enough and will definately return. The hotel was perfect for our needs,a wonderfull old building, lovely friendly and knowlidgeable staff, spacious clean simple accomodation, easy to find and only a two minute walk from the main square, again definately recommended and when we return I will book a room there. quick tip, if you are driving, park at the main train station for €2.50 a day and this gets you a free return bus ride into the town centre (every where is walkable once your in the town and its the best way to see it!)Thanks for a great time.

Wink was friendly from the outset, and we came to recognize him as a perfect host. Wink was a great source of local historical knowledge, and gave us the unfortunate history of Charles the Bold, after whom the hotel is named. We used Brugge as a hub to visit the coastal tram (Kusttram) and Brussels. It would have been better to have taken more time in Brugge itself, but we did see the town on foot and from a boat tour and found the Canada memorial bridge.

Standard room. Excellent stay. All we expected and needed. Warm friendly atmosphere. Helpful host. Close to city centre. Stairs a bit steep for us. Throughly recommend

This was a lovely place to stay, and the hotel staff could not have been more helpful (especially when our Eurostar train home was cancelled). The proprietor was a friendly and reliable guide to good places to eat in Bruges, too. Highly recommended.

The hotel was very nice and was in a great location. The rooms were not fancy but had everything we needed and very clean. The public space had a nice old-world feel and the people were great. I would stay here again!

Just back from a lovely 2 days in Brugge...we would highly recommend Hotel Karel de Stoute. It's a short taxi ride from the train station and very conveniently located for exploring the city centre and all the tourist sites on foot. The hotel itself has lots of charm and character, we had a superior room with lovely wooden beams etc...the breakfasts are superb and the hosts could not have been more pleasant and helpful.

I would reccomend Hotel Karel de Stoute very highly and would stay there again if we visit Brugge again. It is idealy situated for visiting all sights, being just 4/5 mins walk from the main square. But it is in a very quiet residential area so you have the best of both worlds. The owners are very helpful, as are all the staff. Breakfast good, plenty to chose from. I always look at the user comments and its that which made me chose Karel de Stoute. Brugge is a beautiful place to visit, and very easy to find your way around as it can all be visited by foot. I would recommend taking one of the mini bus tours which start in the main square they only last 50 mins., and then take a conducted walking tours which start at the concert hall square. That way you get an idea of the main points of interest and then see them more closly on your walking tour. We also took a whole day tour outside the main centre of Brugge with Quosimodo tours which was very good, well worth the 50 euros as you visit places you would not normally be able to get to.

The Hotel was a beautiful old building with an amazing cellar bar. Our room was very spacious and clean with modern furnishings but with a wonderful beamed ceiling. The Hotel was situated on a very quiet street within 5 minutes walking distance of the main part of Bruges. The breakfast was cooked to order and I would definately recommend this Hotel to others.
