Not so lucky with this one. To be fair, location of Geestelic Hof is excellent, it's situated on a lovely street just 1 minute from the historic centre, and just nearby Eric Popetier's bike rental ( higly recommendable thing to do in Bruges ). There it ends. When we got there, we realized that it was the "back yard"of the opposite Hotel de Castillion ( very nice 4 star hotel ). It didn't even have a welcoming employee at the reception, you had to ring a bell and a man came from the hotel across the street and gave you your room keys. We had booked a double bed, but we found just two twins put close one another. The concierge said there were no double beds at the hotel, all were made the same. The room was big, uselessly big, with a 14 inch TV placed 4 metres from our bed ( 12 feet away, take your glasses please ).The bathroom would have appreciated five more minutes of cleaning as well. Although the lonely concierge wasn't rude or bad mannered, the overall experience, regarding the price quality relationship, was really poor.

This was a hotel of high standard which shared its facilities with a higher rated hotel over the road - very convenient and good value.

We had the top floor room with a view of the tops of the churches (lots). Pack light as it was 5 stories up a tiny stairway with a "vintage" railing but once we opened the windows in the room what a view. Great price too! The lady who ran this and the hotel across the street was so nice and helpful. I would stay there again.

Great value and excellent location. We had a first floor superior room up a narrow and creaking stairway. Hotel is run together with Hotel De Castillion across the street. Excellent and tranquil location in the old city. The larger room which had a lot of floor space but little else, standard of furnishing was similar to the standard room in photo. Next time I would settle for a standard room. Clean bathroom which had ineffective shower screen however. We ate dinner one night at the very fine degustation restaurant (served at De Castillion) where the food was excellent - the restaurant has a nmber of accolades. However this was as expensive as two nights in a standard room. We didn't take breakfast because of cost and ate that in town also.

The front desk was unstaffed. You had to ring the bell and someone would come (quite quickly) from across the street to help you. So the security is slightly less than ideal. However, we never felt unsafe. Otherwise everything was fine. We would recommend not buying the breakfast offered at the hotel (it's quite expensive) and just getting breakfast in town instead.

It's a good budget hotel in a very quiet location steps away from the main shopping street and close to all other points of interest. The accommodation was adequate, nothing more. It's definitely not a bargain, but we didn't feel we overpaid for it either. All in all, if we ever go back and can't find anything with a little more character for the same price, we'd stay there again.
