Hotel Egmond - Bruges

The quality of the bathroom was below any critic. We couldn't close the harmonica door at all! In the shower there was some sewer blockage, consequently the water couldn't go down. Between the "door" and the lavatory there was no space even for a very slim lady yet. The receptionist was indolent. He teached me that low cost means low quality, and why I didn't reserve a room for more money, than explained me, that in Paris I could get worse quality only for 85 €. The only positive thing that he allowed us to let our baggages in the hotel while we were looking for another hotel. He referred everytime to the owner, instead of to say a very little sorry. I hope that the owner represents a fully different approach.

We had room 4, it was quiet and comfortable. Hotel was awesome, quiet yet close to everything. Breakfast was excellent value, many other restaurants for lunch and dinner are within a 10 minute walk.

Very nice hotel in a beatiful garden close to historic part of town. Small room and even smaller bathroom.

With only eight bedrooms, the Egmond is a rather small hotel for Bruges but we found it was ideally located. Easy to find and being inside the old town itself meant we could park the car for three days and simply walk around the place. The closest canals and cafes were only a minute or so walk from the hotel. The hotel was very quiet and breakfast on all three days was very good. Our room (6) was a good size with a great view of the garden but the ensuite facilities were rather cramped. The Egmond gave very good value for money in a place which can be very expensive to visit - especially with the poor rate of exchange for the British Pound. I would certainly recommend the place and would stay there agin if re-visiting Bruges.

What a disappointment! This hotel had been given rave reviews by Frommer's but in recent years has fallen into disrepair. The location is peaceful and quiet but money needs to be put into the aging property to repair carpet, paint, shabby hallways, sagging curtain rods, etc. In such a beautiful city as Bruges, I think better value could be found.

l'hôtel est situé dans un endroit très calme (parc) tout en étant à 2 pas du centre ville. On apprécie le jardin au calme surtout après le tumulte touristique du centre.Les chambres sont un peu petites, dommage!A partir de 18h, l'hôtel est en "self-service", on a l'impression d'être chez soi! l'hôtel.Proximité de nombreux restaurants tout à côté et facilité d'accès à pied de la gare lorsqu'on arrive en train. Je recommande vivement cet hôtel.

Nice hotel, but he bathroom is typically coming from the low cost hotel "Formule 1" in France. Surprising, considering the price !!

The location of the hotel is perfect! Right on the Minnewater but secluded from the crowds. When you came back from your day, it felt like a retreat in itself. The breakfast was delicious, the staff helpful and courteous, and the grounds charming. Also, it is very convenient to the train station (which is usually a bad sign for the area atmosphere, but not so here). The shower was smaller even than the euro average, but that's the only minor niggle I had. Will certainly stay there again when I come back to Bruges.
