The hotel was a little dated but to be fair, I understand it is going through some upgrades. The hotel staff were poor at best, incredibly rude from check in to check out, and some staff barely spoke english. I'm not racist but, if you are going to be working in England and dealing with the English general public, surely a basic grasp of the language is required(?)

I was a bit concerned by some very negative comments in comparison sites. The place was fine - no big problems. Clean, friendly staff, good buffet breakfast. There is only one lift, which is not really good enough for a 5-storey hotel of this size.

I was disappointed about the breakfast and the over all cleanliness of the glas, cups, knives... and so on.

When I booked a suite I expected a living room and a bedroom. We got a very small room with a four poster bed and a cramped bathroom. We did have a view of the sea and the pier which was good. The bathroom needed renovation. On Friday night we were awakened several times by drunks clattering back to the room opposite and then were awoken in the morning by room service coming to the wrong room. We made the mistake of eating in the hotel the evening we arrived. The water who greeted us was not very polite and spoke poor English. The food was of a VERY poor standard; overcooked, luke warm and not very good ingredience. On the Saterday morning at breakfast the toast ran out and the staff refused to make more even thoigh we had arrived well before the closing time. When we reyurned the following Monday we booked a cheaper room which turned out to be much bigger than the more expensive one although not overlooking the sea. The beds were more comfortable. Both rooms were clean, although in the second room there was a certain amount of dust in the air from the building work being done outside our window. The workmen were quiet so we were not disturbed. The reception staff were very helpful and polite.

A nice hotel. Granted a little dated, and the rooms could do with a lick of paint, but on the whole it served its purpose. Staff at check in were incredibly helpful nand friendly. We were a young group, and therefore didn't mind the late night noise, but others might, so bear it in mind if you're staying at a weekend.

The hotel was filthy and needs a complete refurb the staff was rude, the room looked as if it has never seen a vacuum, the bed linen was a disgrace, I asked for a disabled room for my 87 year old mother, and was given a room without shower facility, expecting a lady of that age to climb into a bath. It really needs an health and safety officer to examine the condition that hotel is in. As for the meals, after looking at the state of the hotel,I just could not imagine what the kitchen would be like, so we went to a nearby resturante.

OK hotel for the price, sentraly located, nice view - old style - a little crowdy. Got a damp and ugly room under street level first, but the receptionist changed this immediately to a much better room for the same price.

Hotel very nicely located. Rooms could be cleaner, and more quiet (the windows need to be changed). Breakfast is OK.

The only fault i can find for this hotel was we had to queue for ages on the sunday morning for breakfast for quite a while...this was i think cos they were doing special deals at the hotel in January so it was very full!!!....Other than that it was a great hotel and we realy enjoyed our stay there!!

As with many Brittania chain hotels, the rooms, while relatively clean, are depressed and delapidated. This is bargain bin accomodation, a description apt for my particular room with its stained bedthrow, lumpen mattress and a bathroom full of chipped and ungrouted tiles and a marble shelf that had become unglued and posed an arguable health and safety risk. Would I stay there again? Yes. Would I go expecting little? Undoutedly.

We had a really great time at this hotel and for the price it was great value. The hotel is in a great location and well kept for such a huge hotel. Our stay was ruined on the day we checked out because one of my friends' suitcase was taken from the reception area and the staff were really unfriendly and unhelpful, they weren't interested at all even though a suitcase with all of someone's belongings had been stolen from their hotel. Luckily we got it back with no help from the hotel.

The decoration of the rooms, hallways and other areas is very worn in places. It is also quite mismatched and does not always fit with the grand architecture. The location is excellent and bar and restaurant prices are very reasonable.

The very old windows in the room were so dirty, that someone wrote "wash me" on the glass. apart from that it was o.k.

Myself and 9 friends stayed at the Royal Albion for my hen night. We could not have asked for more. Although the hotel is in need of some TLC (I suspect it was quite grand once upon a time), it had everything we needed. The buffet breakfast was delicious and we would certainly stay there again.

My stay was not good, the first room I was given was already occupied, the hotel not knowing, the second room was tiny, had no toilet seat and the frames from the window had broken off. So again I was given another room, this room was more acceptable but had leaking air conditioning but by this time I was tired of complaining. All in all the hotel is in a fantastic location within Brighton but is let down by the maintenance and cleanliness, as there were glass's and bottles in the corridors. I could go on running the place down but to end on a high the breakfast was nice and the staff were friendly.

In general very pleasant stay. Location couldn't be better. Excellent breakfast and a truly warm place. When booking online even when you book double room for single occupancy, single room is given which can be unplesant when not sea view. No satellite channels in TV. Rogues bar was not open on week days in winter.

We went to The Albion for a hen night. It was a good choice as there were loads of hen and stag parties there. The bar stayed open very late which we all enjoyed! The location of the hotel was ideal too, right opposite the pier and easy walking distance to all the shops and nightlife! I would recommend this hotel to other who were planning a weekend in Brighton.
