CHECK AVAILABILITY

For warm southern Italian hospitality in a beautiful location, the Hotel Costa Azzurra, is a real gem. This family run accommodation near Briatico Beach treats you to a fabulous seafront location, a mere 5-minute stroll from the sands, and with spectacular views of the Aeolian Islands to the bay of St. Eufemia.

On your morning stroll along the promenade, pop into one of the bars for a coffee or head to the main piazza where the locals meet to chat, people watch and eat ice-cream. Your holiday in Briatico also means you are in a prime location for discovering the hidden coves and beautiful promontories of the Calabrian coast.

Bathing in the emerald waters and topping up your tan may be just what you dreamed of doing, but if you fancy exploring the region's fantastic scenery, then visit the rugged Aspromonte Mountain and La Sila, with its national park and magnificent lakes. Just over an hour's drive away and you could be admiring the art nouveau buildings, Botanical Gardens and the Aragonian Castle of Reggio Calabria, the oldest city in the province, located on the strait between the mainland and Sicily.

You might be forgiven for thinking that Calabria is all about the sea, but you can't escape the history of this fascinating region. This value-for-money 3 star hotel is near Vibo Valentia Calabria, famous for its Norman-Hoehenstaufen Castle, Walls of Hipponion, and churches. If you fancy heading further afield, then an hour's drive brings you to the beautiful medieval city of Gerace, with its impressive Norman castle, ancient cathedral and enchanting streets.

A top location for visiting local attractions!

Briatico is a typical small fishing village on the Calabrian Coast and as this holiday lodging is near Tropea, you'll undoubtedly want to visit this popular seaside town, which hangs on the cliffs and has views over the Stromboli volcano. Join the locals and bathe on the beach, and if your culinary curiosity gets the better of you, try the famous red Tropea Onion ice-cream in one of the town's gelaterias - (yes - red onion!)

And if you like that, then you might want to upgrade to squid ink ice-cream! Don't hesitate to talk to the friendly hospitality team about attractions close to Briatico. As a guest of the Hotel Costa Azzurra you can take advantage of chairs and umbrellas on the beach just moments away.

When the glittering sea beckons you for more than a swim, ask about mini-cruise to the beautiful archipelago of the Aeolian Islands and experience this breathtaking coastline from the sea! The hotel's terrace offers you the perfect opportunity to admire the islands from afar, as you enjoy a refreshing drink and watch the sun go down. Guests will appreciate the roundtrip airport shuttle that is available with a 24 hour notice, fees apply. Additional hotel amenities include a restaurant with bar, complimentary wireless Internet access, and free parking.

A cultural retreat by the sea!

A warm family atmosphere awaits you at the Hotel Costa Azzurra, a Briatico budget beach hotel with a difference. As you are travelling to your room, you might notice that the elevator does not possess the usual bland interior. Here you'll find exquisite works of art by local Calabrian artists, and who regularly do monthly live painting sessions - so the souvenir of your stay in Briatico is right in front of your nose!

Talented local musicians also perform live for your entertainment, and the hotel is proud to promote a cultural ambience at all times.

It was a nice room in a beautiful location. We had some frustrations with things not working (i.e. the door to the balcony was broken and the drain in the shower was clogged) but these things were fixed the following day. Apart from that, and some mould in the shower it was very spacious, updated decor, lovely furniture and beautiful terrace overlooking the sea. Very good value for the price. Things were quiet the first night be extremely noisy the 2nd when a large group filled most of the hotel. Laundry was 5 Euro. Staff generally don't speak much English, but were friendly and we found ways to communicate.

This is our second stay at this excellent family run hotel. They make you feel part of the family. Since we speak italian, we had no communication problems. The breakfast was more than one would expect - they even provided eggs and bacon! The room was spotless and the view from our balcony was fantastic - especially the sunset! Although their restaurant is closed, there is a very good pizzeria/restaurant just up the road. Parking is safe and free, just opposite the hotel. We forgot our passports and they immediately sent them to us by registered post at no extra cost. Will definitely stay there again.

Finding this hotel is somewhat difficult, The signage is not great, but once you locate the road down to the hotel everything is fine. The hotel is very nice. We were there off season, and so it was not crowded. The hotel was clean and comfortable and has an elevator. Breakfast was very nice and includes a meat, sliced cheese, fresh fruit and choice of cereals. The hotel does not have any internet. Our room had a balcony that overlooked the beach.

A very good deal between price and service offered compared to other hotels in the area. Breakfast is good for the standard. Hotel's standard in this case is not what you pay for; you pay for the whole picture. It could be impressive for people looking for something not too fussy in an undiscovered country. Sure you find good temperatures up to October. From Briatico it's easy to visit Tropea (a must) Pizzo with its Tartufo, Reggio Calabria,Scilla and so on. Public Transport not very reliable, as well as English language.I strictly advise to previously hire a car, and try to learn some Italian words.

We took a cab from the airport, which costed a fortune, but took us directly to the hotel. The bus and train are much cheaper but how to find the hotel from the station is a bit more difficult if you can't call the hotel and ask for directions. Costa Azzurra is a very nice little hotel with a remarkable view from the balcony! Our doubble room was nicely cleaned, even the bathroom. The beach is a short walk away and if you like swimming from the cliffs it's even closer. The breakfast was very poor, but there are a few food stores nearby so you can buy some yourself. The centro is extremely cozy and offers some places where to eat, drink and have a coffee. The staff at the hotel aren't english speaking but if you're lucky you can find someone who's helpful anyway. Overall a nice little hotel in a nice, quiet little village with amazing view! Would recommend it for ppl who want to relax and take it easy, since there's no real nightlife in town. But if you have a car/scooter there are good places in nearby villages/cities. The quality vs. price is very good. Would definitely stay here again!
