This was noisy. The plumbing was old and made a lot of noise. We had to stop the water flowing to the WC in order to make it quiet. There was no air condition, so we had to sleep with the window open. But apparently, so did everyone else, because we could hear everything from seemingly everyone ;-) But if you share a bottle of Bordeaux before going to bed, it should be possible to sleep. The worst part were the things living in the beds. We were bitten everywhere, and had to freeze our clothes when we got home to kill them off. I suppose we were really unlucky with the room? But the staff was really nice and helpful.

Problems with elecricity, had to move rooms, no refunds or compensation offered at all. The area is excellent, but the hotell is pretty worn-down. Not value for money, but apparantly they are refurbishing soon.

A great value. The rooms are a bit tatty, and some on the 4th floor on the Hotel de Seze side only have windows so high up that you can't look out, but overall this is a good place to stay considering how inexpensive it is. The location couldn't be better, 2 minutes' walk from the tourism office, pedestrianized centre and Champion supermarket in Place des Grands Hommes. I wouldn't recommend this place for people who like to spend heaps of time in their hotel rooms, but if like me you only use the hotel room to sleep and maybe chill out a bit for an hour before dinner then the Medoc is perfect. I should add that I didn't purchase breakfast and never tend to, preferring a cafe au lait and croissant in town.

I agree with the comments I read before booking the Hotel. It's a very convenient location, very quiet, 2mn walk to direct bus stop to the Airport and main tram lines (Quinconces, Office de Tourisme). The staff is very friendly. Probably the best deal in terms of price/quality in this area of Center Bordeaux. However, as mentioned in other comments, the rooms are quite small and haven't been renovated for quite a long time!

Single female middle aged foreigner, was made welcome and the staff were helpful. I went for the architectural inspiration and was delighted. Only negative thing was the smoking that went on regardless of rules.

very centrally situated only a couple of minutes to the Grand Theatre and the main shopping street. Room was large clean if a bit shabby. Only the bathroom was awful, clean but completely antiquated - the loo didn't work properly, bath was tiny and the decor awful. If you are going for a short stay the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.

the rooms were old and need to be refreshed : no space, very small and old. the public areas were very pleasant, so were the employees. good location.

Lovely city, lovely location of the hotel and very pleasant weekend. The staff is very friendly. The only problem we had was that the water was leaking in the shower but there was no noise so we didn´t matter very much. I definitely recommend it to everybody taking into account the relationship between price and quality.

C'est un petit hôtel sans charme particulier qui a surtout l'avantage d'être bien placé à côté des Allées de Tourny

The 3-star rating seems generous for this hotel, which needs "refreshing" overall. But the room, if old-fashioned and cramped, was clean and the hotel is excellently located.
