Excellent for the price. The elevator is not very useful, since you must carry your bags up one story to use it at all, and it opens on landings that don't correspond to the floor levels. The room was clean, modern, with high ceilings and tall windows that opened onto a interior court so it was cool enough with the ceiling fan going but not noisy. The hotel is on a walking street. I had to pull my luggage a ways to reach it, but on leaving the hotel called a cab that was authorized to drive to the hotel. There is a great bookstore opposite the hotel.

Very central location in Bordeaux, on a pedestrian precinct, walking distance from all major locations. No air conditioning made the rather small rooms inconveniently hot in August.

Great location, nice clean room, friendly and helpfull receptionist. However without an air-conditioning it was just imposible to sleep in the nignt in July, when the temperature during the day was reaching 40C and the pedestrianized street stays very noisy all nignt long, full of drunken teens. Breakfast is very basic, I would even say very poor, considering Baurdoux has such a choice of great places to eat. I would strongly reccommend to avoid this hotel during summer period.Try something else instead.

Nothing except location is good about this hotel. Despite child being mentioned no child cot was provided. ON request the attendent asked us to carry the cot which was very heavy and we didnt have a choice but to refuse. Reaching room was a maze of stairs and though lift was available it was of no use as luggage had to be carried by hand 2 flights before and after lift. Room was very very small. NIL amenities . No water heater , no glasses or tea bags. Room heater was archaic and did not heat properly. Not recommended for family. May be ok for backpackers

This hotel is located in the heart of the old city within walking distance of many restaurants, stores and the tourist information office. Considering the great rate I was paying for the room, I was expecting to be a bit away from the heart of the city, instead I was pleasantly surprised at the location and the hotel.

My first visit to Bordeaux. A very good base from which to explore the old town. Lively pedestrian area - lots of street life without traffic. A very large bookshop opposite the hotel.

This hotel is no doubt one of the best furnishing hotels in Bordeaux. Room is clean, modern, and spacious. Where it locates is also perfect, just 5 minutes walk from the Tourism Office. However, I must point out that the staff who was in charge of the night shift was impolite. When I asked him where the laundry shop is, he pretended he did not understand English and refused to answer me. At the end, he even asked me: "Why don't you say French?"

Excellent location in the heart of the city. Very close to the airport shuttle bus drop-off and tourist centre from where you can get access to tours and information. Clean and modern rooms. Only minus is there was no check-in before lunch. Other than that, I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Located in downtown Bordeaux ("centre-ville"), on a small pedestrian street. The building is old and the lift starts only at the second level. Public parking is expensive and 400M away But it is clean Breakfast however is very poor in a town where the good food is a must Try instead to have breakfast near the Gambetta place

Clean, reasonably priced and well-situated, we found Hotel Gambetta to be ideal for our 2-night stay. Friendly, helpful staff, who supported rather than ridiculed our poor French, were excellent. The hotel is in the heart of Bordeaux, and we wish it every success, although not too much, as we will probably need a room next year!

Good hotel, smells a bit funny, but apparently it's a weird kind of French Oak smell (it is Bordeaux) Internet is spotty on the 3rd floor, but works when you stay in the lounge area... I think it's a busted access point. Not really a big deal, a bit annoying if you need to login but workable. Staff is friendly. Had problems with their credit card machine...not a big deal, but slightly annoying.

Our room was full of mosquitos because the cleaners left our window wide open after cleaning ever day; nice and secure for our bags. No air-con in the rooms. Bathroom was so tiny you couldn't even turn round in. Room was smallest hotel room we have ever stayed in, and didn't even have a wardrobe. Room was, however, cleaned every day, and towels were replaced with clean ones. Location is great; really close to lots of attractions. We didn't try the breakfast, preferring to eat in local cafes. Hotel is basically next step up from a hostel; stay here if you want cheap and clean but don't mind about facilities or room size.

Very good basic hotel if you are on a budget and want to stay somewhere in the centre of Bordeaux. The location is unbeatable and the staff are both friendly and helpful.

It appeared that the hotel was being refurbished but there was no mention of this on the web. Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful but our stay was marred by excessive noise day and night. Hotel was situated in a pedestrian street and parking is in a public car park some distance away. Excellent location for seeing all the sights of Bordeaux.
