Pretty basic hotel about 10 mins walk from old town. Rooms are nothing special but have good heating and plenty of hot water, adequate space There is a huge shopping centre just two mins walk away, a laundromat 200 metre's to the left as you exit hotel, and the light rail stop at the shopping centre. More of a budget/backpacker hotel where you get what you pay for. To give a comparison the Mecure over the road was more for one night than our stay for three at the Le Chantry, but obviously the Mecure is of higher quality. Free parking is a real plus though and there is a good entry/exit to the car park and lots of room for a big car (unusual for Europe).

I don't even think about 2-stars hotels outside France. I know that French 2-stars hotels could be acceptable, but this hotel was surprisingly good and comfortable. Helpful staff, good breakfast, free private parking and all needed facilities. Everything new, clean and convenient. Walking distance to city center. Highly recommended.

spotlessly clean and convenient. overall a great place. breakfast is a bit dull and expensive, you get a much better deal outside. Far from train station (about EUR12-15 on cab, and EUR20 on the expensive Mercedez cab, so beware if you have a lot of luggages). very walkable from town centre (about 10-15 mins). we came to Bordeaux for a short two days trip, and found the place very suitable for our purposes. would definitely stay here again and recommend it to couples (it's a bit small for families with children).

Only stayed one night, but was very happy. Convenient parking, and friendly check in guy. He spoke some English, but when he spoke French to me he spoke very slowly and clearly, so there were no communication problems. This also applied to the lady at check out in the morning. The location was about a fifteen minute walk from the centre of town, but that helped keep things nice and quiet. The room and clean and well maintained - everything worked as expected. Not too large, but a reasonable size for Europe. The breakfast was pretty good for 8 Euros. Some Americans may not agree with that, but by European standards I thought it was excellent value. The price was amazing. Not fancy, but very functional. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is 15 minutes walk to the main town centre, but this is an obvious trade off with the price, and not a huge issue as long as you can walk ! The rooms are functional and clean, bathroom shower was great, something which some better hotels seem to have problems with ! Free internet access is a major plus also. I have used this chain of hotels before (Citotel) and will continue to use them as they are consistently decent.

Bad surprise! The price for breakfeast was not included, nobody informed that it should be paid extra - neither venere nor the employees of the hotel. 7 € per day and per person is quite high for that kind of breakfast! Apart from that it was a good hotel, clean and central.

There's nothing special about Hotel Le Chantry but there's nothing bad about it either. It's a nondescript hotel in an ugly area of Bordeaux that it walking distance to the centre of town. In other words - it is an ideal cheap overnight stay for somebody more interested in exploring Bordeaux than having a fantastic hotel experience. Rooms are typically European in size (ie small) but nothing that will surprise people used to travelling in Europe. Hotel staff were a bit grumpy at first but helped us with all our requests and we even got them to smile in the end! Ideal budget stay for the non-fussy traveller.

Hotel was serviceable and just a 10 minute stroll to town centre. Bathroom was the main disappointment, shower consisting of a hand held tap attachment that could not hang on the wall, and with no shower curtain, each time it was used it did it's best to soak the whole room. Beds were okay, TV was fine with a station showing all day porn - bizarre!

This was the first time in Bordeaux. We stayed for a day, then did some traveling, then came to Le Chantry for our last night before flying back home. Loved it! The hotel was fine. I initially thought I was quite far away from where my sister was staying, but it is a very good walking town, and nothing is too far. Thank goodness, because obviously, there is a major parking problem in Bordeaux!

The trip was a three day get-away for 4 housewifes and we just loved Bordeaux! The hotel was great value for money and met our expectations in regards to location - just a ten minute walk to the city centre! The rooms were somewhat smaller then indicated on the photos and the TV was small. Breakfast was good and the area round the hotel was safe and clean. Could we make one change... we would hang up shower-curtains! Oh...and for families travelling with children, there seemed to be non-stop porn on one of the TV channels (so not neccessary!).
