I stayed in this hotel for one night with my daughter in order to visit the Christmas markets in Bolzano and Merano. It is like all hotels we've ever stayed in while in the Sudtirol and exemplifies the current trend in Sudtirol hostelry...clean, with nice and efficient staff, but expensive (118 Euros for our room). The hotel itself is a bit of a ways outside the city center, on a pretty busy road, so don't expect to be able to walk downtown and the main Bolzano sites from here. We had a double room which while scrupulously clean, was very small and filled with dated, though functional, furniture. Everything in the room worked as it should though, so no complaints there. My daughter and I also sampled the restaurant at the hotel. The dinner at the restaurant was very good and most of the tables were filled with diners, attesting to the quality of the food. Again though, prices were close to exorbitant (16 Euros for a Wienerschitzel w/ French Fries and 3 Euros for a glass of Coke). In fact, you can get much better food deals in just about any restaurant in downtown Bolzano. I will say though, that the service at the hotel was very pleasant, particularly the lady behind the counter which I took to be the proprietor, and they looked after our needs and any request we had quite promptly. The hotel also provides free covered parking to protect vehicles in the winter which is nice to have. Wi-fi internet service is also available but again, not free, though the price for 24 Hour service is not excessive (2 Euros) and the connection is quite strong (I was able to Skype with my wife for long periods with no issues). Finally, all rooms come with breakfast which is your typical European repast of cold cereals, yoghurts, meats, cheeses, and pastries, nothing exceptional here. In closing, I recommend this hotel but will probably look elsewhere to stay in the future as we like to be closer to the city center and prices are comparable in other places in better locations.

WE found it by accident on the internet, described as a 'gem', a comment with which we completely agree. The room was spotlessly clean, comfortable and spacious. Owner/manager was extremely friendly and accommodating. Her husband and son worked in the kitchen and the food was first class. We could not forget to mention the waiter who was extremely efficient, friendly and humorous. The Stay in Bolzano could be described as a highlight of the trip so far. Alternative accommodation would have to be a world beater to top the stay at the Lewald Hotel. We would recommend it to anyone who intends to visit Bolzano.

Its a very good hotel with beautiful rooms with woody furniture. they have very nice underground garage. the breakfast was not too rich... the hotel located in a very noisy street. if you close all windows you dont hear the noise, but if you want to sit on your balcony, sometimes its not a pleasent. over all its very good hotel but the location is a bit noisy.

Nice hotel, friendly staff, excellent food, really good wine, spacious rooms, only drawback being that you need a taxi at night to get into town.

We were very happy with our stay at Lewald hotel. The new extension is excellent with the new rooms being very comfortably furnished with a very nice bathrooms. The food was also excellent with a good choice and the wine was even better. A very satisfying stay to finish our holiday in Italy.

The Lewald is convenient for those wishing to stay near the Bolzano airport, however, otherwise the location is not particularly good - on a busy main street with little around in terms of retail businesses. The pricing was reasonable however not a great value.

The hotel is not really close to the center, but it is takes only few minutes by bus to reach it and the bus station is few meters far away. The service and in general the whole stay was more than good

The rooms themselves (we had 2 rooms for 3 persons) and the hotel in general were everything we could have desired, though the surroundings--out of the city center, past a somewhat industrial/commercial area, across the road from a cemetery--were not the best. (Don't let the location of the hotel dissuade you from visiting the beautiful and historic center of Bolzano!) The staff were quite helpful; we arrived late, and found the manager had waited at the front desk for us, and when we had trouble communicating in our rudimentary Italian and nonexistant German she called her teenaged daughter, who spoke some English, to help interpret and to give us directions to the nearest open restaurant (the hotel's own restaurant was closed for the night). The rooms were immaculately clean and more spacious than we were expecting. Overall, a very pleasant place, and I would definitely recommend it.

This is a very nice small hotel with good quality. It is family owned and operated, and they make you feel welcome. It is a bit away from anything, just on the outskirts of town, but if you have a car it is no problem. It takes about 10 minutes to get there by car (and at least another 10 to find parking!). Overall highly recommended.

Unfortunately we booked into a hotel that had no meals at the weekend, and it was difficult to find a restaurant in the evenings we were there. We ended up eating at the same pizzeria both nights. Had we realized this, we would have booked somewhere more convenient.

After a long drive across Europe it's good to have a clear map to find your bed for the night. Underground carpark to keep the car cool, excellent service, room and food. Menu in Italian and German but explanations given in English.

The room was very nice and the service was great. The only problem was that the center of town is not in walking distance. The postive thing is that there is good parking there.

The hotel is located at the foot of beautiful lush foothills and across from a pleasant but inconspicuous cemetery. The rooms are clean, cozy, and comfortable. If you are a tourist and focused on the historical downtown this is not a very good location. However, if your trip is business related or visiting the Fair this hotel is in a practical location. TIP: the hotel next door has the same type of view and facilities, but it has a nice pool!

We enjoyed the room very much. It was spacious, well decorated, and comfortable. It was the best hotel room we stayed in on this trip. The waiter/manager was multilingual and was very helpful with the menu and food selection. The meal I thought was great tasting but perhaps overpriced. We would definitely come back to Lewald, but spending our evening dining in Bolzano, to savor Bolzano and not Lewald. Even though Lewald is as nice as it is.
