This is the third time I have stayed in this hotel and each time the welcome and care taken by all of the staff is exceptional. The Hotel is small and friendly and being in the centre of Bologna is in an ideal location for exploring and within 5 minutes of the major Rail network makes the Hotel Nuovo del Porto a prefect base for both Holiday and Business. The Breakfast is also a pleasant and relaxing experience.

A nice, quiet hotel near enough to the busy downtown and train station that a 10 minute walk in either direction will get you there. Had an elevator which was unexpected in the more historic areas in Italy. Good breakfast with very helpful staff. Nice hotel with free WiFi. We would stay here again.

We did not expect much as we got a great price and we were both pleasantly surprised. Great location can walk to everything. And price was great. Secure parking price of 12.00 Euro's a bit steep for one night which was almost 30 percent of the cost of the room. The reviews for the this hotel are accurate. Rooms small and a bit dated. But for the price it's fantastic for those on a budget but still want to be very central.

The hotel was excellent! Among the usual things (TV, air-conditioning, private bathroom...) for the three star hotel, we had the fridge with drinks and snacks (for a fee of course, but not high). Bed was huge and comfortable. Breakfast was included and it was the best hotel breakfast we ever had. We will come here again!

The location is indeed great as it is 20 minutes walk from the Central Station and 20-25 minutes from the center (Piazza Majore). The room is very small (I had a double): you'll have max. 3 feet between the bed and the next wall. Only one chair - with stains on it. Not very pleasant. A small balcony. The bathroom has no bathtub - only a a tiny shower: expect water all around the bathroom. Other that - it's quite ok for the price, but I won't give it 3 star - nah ah - 2 tops. The reception guys: there were 2 of them - the young one is very helpful and speaks good English. My sincere thanks to him. The other - an older one - is simply terrible: speaks terrible English, grumpy and unhelpful. I think he's on a night shift or something, so avoid him. The lobby and common area are simply non-existent. The breakfast is quite (if not very) limited for a 3* hotel (which this on is only on paper); coffee is from a coffee machine. So, do not expect much from breakfast, although some pastry is really good.

Location was excellent but location isn;t every thing. The bathroom was an abomination. The sink sloaped toward the floor mqking it impossible to place anything on it that would not roll off. The shower stall was protected by a curtain resulting in regular flooding of the bathroom floor and somtimes the carpet around the door. There was no shelf in the stall on which to put the soap or shampoo. The breakfast room was far too small for the number of guests, and the tables were so close as to make it difficult to navigate through the room. Many times guests had to wait in a narrow hallway for a table. We felt sorry for the staff who were hampered by the crowded conditions and the position of the kitchen.

We were very disappointed with the cramped room we had. Nothing had indicated this to us prior to our arriving at the hotel. Also, we were not aware of the location of the hotel's garage facility. Instead, we parked in a private garage nearby (which probably was better for us to get out of!).

I was first a bit worried about travelling alone as woman. When I arrived in the afternoon and walked the 10-min-way from the station to the hotel, I felt really unsafe because a lot of men are standing in the streets and watching... During my stay I realized that a lot people are hanging out on the streets, it's normal and not dangerous, and no need to worry at all! Like many students in Bologna I bought myself a bottle of beer in the supermarket (because I payed 5€ for a small beer in a bar!) and spent an evening on the streets. It is also no problem (as a read in a review before my trip) to walk in the university district alone in the late evening. Bologna is a very charming and lively city, and I can also recommend this hotel: I booked a single room and got a double with a very spacious bathroom, quiet and nice view, everything clean, and big and excellent breakfast. Staff didn't speak english well, also the furniture is not very stylish. - I didn't care, I regret to have stayed so short.

I have stayed here many times, always very plesant, but just a couple of things, More pillows please, one pillow each for a couple,on a double bed is just not enough! Also, the bins in the bathroom are always broken & tiny. No shelf in the bathroom at all,so toiletries have to go on the floor! The Hotel parking has gone up 50% in 4 months!

The hotel was well placed for walking into centre of Bologna and also for the station, though the surroundings weren't especially congenial (though there was a handy Coop for everyday things). Breakfasts provided were generous though I imagine that the basement where they were served would be hot and humid in summer (I was there in Oct 09). Reception staff were pleasant and helpful, though it took about 4 days (I stayed for 10) for a companion to have a light bulb changed in her bathroom. The room which I shared was quite cramped, even for 3 stars, and the shower in the bathroom was quite dated (though there was excellent hot water). On the other hand, the room had a pleasant small balcony with a view over the rooftops. Overall, we had a good time--lots to see and do in the city and easy rail trips to nearby places--and it was all good value.

Decent location, and the staff was helpful and friendly. However, the advertised air conditioning- one of the main reasons we selected this hotel- was not turned on in mid-May, supposedly because the city doesn't let them turn it on until the end of May. This meant we had to open the balcony door to cool the room, but as we shared a balcony with two other rooms this was not a safe option.

We have arrived at Saturday night and hotel didn't make first good impression as stree is dark and looks dangerous. We have parked outside and though our car could be broken! However, hotel is very well located near to major attractions. Room was spacious (more than we though due to be disability room - we didn't need this feature) and clean. However, Sunday morning a lot of people outside were chatting loud and I woke up very early due to this problem. Might be some church association... Affordable price, decent continental breakfast and cordial staff. Good tip: Be sure that you are visiting bologna in weekdays. Sunday everything is closed.

The hotel reception was excellent--tolerating my middling Italian when they spoke excellent English. The area directly around the hotel is a bit sketchy, yet we never felt there was any real concern. The room was extremely small--requiring that two relatively thin people communicate their intentions of where they intended to be in the room. That would not keep me from using this hotel again.

This hotel is very close to the city centre. It is a short walk from the main thoroughfare, not far from the station and it takes less than ten minutes to walk to the central piazza. Good bus service also to the fair grounds. The street itself is not attractive, and it can be a little noisy at times. The public areas of the hotel are a little shabby, but the rooms are perfectly adequate, clean and comfortable and well appointed. If you want a good-value place, convenient to the centre, I would recommend it. The staff were unfailingly pleasant. One complaint: the morning coffee is appalling.

Very noisy street corner throughout night(at front of hotel). Very comfortable and clean room. Good friendly reception. Rather basic breakfast room and service.

It is in a rather dismal area of town on a rather not so nice street. In comparison to other hotels of the same quality, it is a bit of a walk.

This place is a ten-minuute leisurely walk to the train station. It was easy to find. It is also about a leisurely fifteen-minute walk to the Pza. Magggiore and/or the Asinelli and Garisenda Towers. Breakfast was good: rolls and jam, plus yogurt, salami, mortadella, juices, cereal, granola, fruit cocktail, prunes, and pastries to die for. Not to mention a coffee dispenser that served expresso as good as what is sold at the cafes...this machine grinds the beans and dispenses coffee espresso style or "lungo." The hotel also had FREE WiFi and they gave me a password that lasted the length of my stay. Toilet was cramped and I had to sit sideways! Kind of weird. I also had a small shower (sliding door enclosure) and every time I turned around in it I would bump something, The only other drawbacks were a little noise from the street and the banging headboard of the amorous couple next door at 1 and 2 AM, plus I could hear them talking until about 3 AM (Friday night romance). Other comments: I couldn't call the reception: usually one dial "0", but it didn't work. I went to the reception to get my password and my 4 AM wakeup call for the morning I left...the wakeup call was automated and it worked, no problem, as well as my taxi reversation at 4:30 AM for the ride to the airport (10 miinutes, 20 Euros). I would stay here again despite the minor inconvenience of noise and other imperfections. The price (75 EURO/night) was right and so was the location.

Generally liked the place and it was clean and tidy. The walls are a little thin so you can hear the people in the next room (that was really annoying at one point). One of the guys at the desk was great, but one of them wasn't. The best part was the location, though. It was just a few blocks south of the train station and really near the open-air market (a fun place!). Overall, liked it but didn't love it. I'd probably stay there again

I appreciate friendly attitude and competence of employees and endeavour of the desk staff to meet guest’s wishes. I recommend more abundant breakfast buffet.

This hotel was fine for our stay in Bologna. As we were there in the prime of Ferragosto, room rates were very cheap. The location of the hotel is good, close to the train station and in the center of Bologna so everything is in walking distance for able-bodied visitors. Printing out a better map is a MUST however, as no directions are provided: we used tuttocitta.com and still had difficulty finding the place the first time. The first room we were in was bigger than average and had a very large bed and a balcony but, as we discovered after a long day of walking when we desired a mid-day shower, had no hot water. The best the hotel staff could do was to change our room, and the resulting room was much smaller and had an initially sketchy a/c (which, in all fairness, ultimately worked okay.) Breakfast was decent, especially for a three star, and although the food was almost out when we came down 20 min before close on the first day, they did bring more food out without complaint. This is not the best hotel we've ever stayed in, but overall was satisfactory and a very good deal for the price paid.

Poor quality. We were directed to an apartment around the block, rather than to a hotel room. And it stank. The stink would not go away despite repeated sprays with air freshener nightly. The headboards were very greasy, as if from people repeatedly having sex. The shower was too small, and it was hard to lather without bumping one's knees and elbows. Way overpriced!

I was late arriving due to a plane delay. They were very accomodating. I also asked to chg my room from a single to a double when I arrived, again, no problem. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Great value.
