Hotel Nuovo Del Porto offers a classic trio of benefits - location, price and service. The staff were eager to advise and assist in all aspects. The internet was slower than I expected and facetime was a bit tricky but the breakfasts and other amenities - superb. Local restaurants with traditional style of foods were recommended and were excellent. All in all a satisfying stay for a good value in a wonderful town to visit.

This hotel is located away from the main traffic roads yet is easily accessible from the station. There are plenty of restaurants less than 10 minutes walk away in the Via A. Righi area but for most people the Piazza Maggiore area is a reasonable 12-15 minute stroll. We had a room on the 5th floor, it was very quiet. The lift is small - really only 2 people plus luggage, but we had no problem having to wait for it. Breakfast was good for the continent, lacking perhaps only in fresh fruit, but with toast, bread and sticky cakes, plus cereal, meat and cheese and preserves. We really liked the hotel and would use it again.

We used this hotel for a three day stay, travelling by train. The hotel was excelltn, convenient for both the station and the historic centre, and well-placed for restaurants. At c£50 per night (booking some time in advance for a stay in October) it was also amazingly good value. We shall certainly use it again if we stay in Bologna.

Great location for arrival in Bologna by train, being halfway between the station and the centre of town (both walkable). Helpful, calm staff even when busy make this standard hotel feel better than average. Downsides - Aircon wouldn't work under 26 degrees and was noisy when it did. My room was fine but my friend's room clearly smelled of smoke and he found cigarette butts outside the windowsill. His shower was also faulty. Buffet breakfast pretty good by Italian standards. Overall good value, hassle-free and clearly popular.

It really was an amazing stay! Really not much to say other than first class. One small suggestion, is to fix the internet connection in the apartments as this should be fairly simple! Altough i have to say when i saw the apartment i didnt care so much! Still, it is a provided service that would make guest even happier! Location also super good!

This is the third time I have stayed in this hotel and each time the welcome and care taken by all of the staff is exceptional. The Hotel is small and friendly and being in the centre of Bologna is in an ideal location for exploring and within 5 minutes of the major Rail network makes the Hotel Nuovo del Porto a prefect base for both Holiday and Business. The Breakfast is also a pleasant and relaxing experience.

We did not expect much as we got a great price and we were both pleasantly surprised. Great location can walk to everything. And price was great. Secure parking price of 12.00 Euro's a bit steep for one night which was almost 30 percent of the cost of the room. The reviews for the this hotel are accurate. Rooms small and a bit dated. But for the price it's fantastic for those on a budget but still want to be very central.

The location is indeed great as it is 20 minutes walk from the Central Station and 20-25 minutes from the center (Piazza Majore). The room is very small (I had a double): you'll have max. 3 feet between the bed and the next wall. Only one chair - with stains on it. Not very pleasant. A small balcony. The bathroom has no bathtub - only a a tiny shower: expect water all around the bathroom. Other that - it's quite ok for the price, but I won't give it 3 star - nah ah - 2 tops. The reception guys: there were 2 of them - the young one is very helpful and speaks good English. My sincere thanks to him. The other - an older one - is simply terrible: speaks terrible English, grumpy and unhelpful. I think he's on a night shift or something, so avoid him. The lobby and common area are simply non-existent. The breakfast is quite (if not very) limited for a 3* hotel (which this on is only on paper); coffee is from a coffee machine. So, do not expect much from breakfast, although some pastry is really good.

Location was excellent but location isn;t every thing. The bathroom was an abomination. The sink sloaped toward the floor mqking it impossible to place anything on it that would not roll off. The shower stall was protected by a curtain resulting in regular flooding of the bathroom floor and somtimes the carpet around the door. There was no shelf in the stall on which to put the soap or shampoo. The breakfast room was far too small for the number of guests, and the tables were so close as to make it difficult to navigate through the room. Many times guests had to wait in a narrow hallway for a table. We felt sorry for the staff who were hampered by the crowded conditions and the position of the kitchen.

We were very disappointed with the cramped room we had. Nothing had indicated this to us prior to our arriving at the hotel. Also, we were not aware of the location of the hotel's garage facility. Instead, we parked in a private garage nearby (which probably was better for us to get out of!).

I was first a bit worried about travelling alone as woman. When I arrived in the afternoon and walked the 10-min-way from the station to the hotel, I felt really unsafe because a lot of men are standing in the streets and watching... During my stay I realized that a lot people are hanging out on the streets, it's normal and not dangerous, and no need to worry at all! Like many students in Bologna I bought myself a bottle of beer in the supermarket (because I payed 5€ for a small beer in a bar!) and spent an evening on the streets. It is also no problem (as a read in a review before my trip) to walk in the university district alone in the late evening. Bologna is a very charming and lively city, and I can also recommend this hotel: I booked a single room and got a double with a very spacious bathroom, quiet and nice view, everything clean, and big and excellent breakfast. Staff didn't speak english well, also the furniture is not very stylish. - I didn't care, I regret to have stayed so short.

The hotel was well placed for walking into centre of Bologna and also for the station, though the surroundings weren't especially congenial (though there was a handy Coop for everyday things). Breakfasts provided were generous though I imagine that the basement where they were served would be hot and humid in summer (I was there in Oct 09). Reception staff were pleasant and helpful, though it took about 4 days (I stayed for 10) for a companion to have a light bulb changed in her bathroom. The room which I shared was quite cramped, even for 3 stars, and the shower in the bathroom was quite dated (though there was excellent hot water). On the other hand, the room had a pleasant small balcony with a view over the rooftops. Overall, we had a good time--lots to see and do in the city and easy rail trips to nearby places--and it was all good value.

Decent location, and the staff was helpful and friendly. However, the advertised air conditioning- one of the main reasons we selected this hotel- was not turned on in mid-May, supposedly because the city doesn't let them turn it on until the end of May. This meant we had to open the balcony door to cool the room, but as we shared a balcony with two other rooms this was not a safe option.

Excellent hotel with low price in august (note that its off-season in Bologna.) the free wifi worked, even though I had to sometimes go to corridor to get authentification, but after that worked also in my room. room had enough electric sockets for my devices (four free and TV+lamp). the breakfast was under italian average.

We have arrived at Saturday night and hotel didn't make first good impression as stree is dark and looks dangerous. We have parked outside and though our car could be broken! However, hotel is very well located near to major attractions. Room was spacious (more than we though due to be disability room - we didn't need this feature) and clean. However, Sunday morning a lot of people outside were chatting loud and I woke up very early due to this problem. Might be some church association... Affordable price, decent continental breakfast and cordial staff. Good tip: Be sure that you are visiting bologna in weekdays. Sunday everything is closed.

The hotel reception was excellent--tolerating my middling Italian when they spoke excellent English. The area directly around the hotel is a bit sketchy, yet we never felt there was any real concern. The room was extremely small--requiring that two relatively thin people communicate their intentions of where they intended to be in the room. That would not keep me from using this hotel again.

This was my second stay at the hotel. The first time I stayed in a double room which was OK. This time I had a triple room, the room was quite small and the bathroom was difficult to use, the toilet was in a corner and there where no legspace.

Welcome could not have been better. We arrived at 7AM and although there was no room available we were invited to have breakfast leave our luggage and come later. We were also able to drop our luggage one week later while waiting for our night train.

very nice hotel with an excellent breakfast. rooms were smaller than expected, but very good for sleeping. Desk service was top-notchand all employees were quite friendly. Would joyfully return! Located around 4 blocks from central train station, easy walk. Several restaurants nearby as well as grocery across street. Typical clientele, travelers, a youth soccer team, overnight businessmen, etc.

This hotel is very close to the city centre. It is a short walk from the main thoroughfare, not far from the station and it takes less than ten minutes to walk to the central piazza. Good bus service also to the fair grounds. The street itself is not attractive, and it can be a little noisy at times. The public areas of the hotel are a little shabby, but the rooms are perfectly adequate, clean and comfortable and well appointed. If you want a good-value place, convenient to the centre, I would recommend it. The staff were unfailingly pleasant. One complaint: the morning coffee is appalling.

We stayed in a triple room which was very spacious. Breakfast is good, and it is worth asking reception staff for lunch recommodations.

An averaged hotel. I learned three-star is minimum requirement for staying in Italy. A free WiFi is good. No much variety of food is available in breakfast. But the location is quite convenient.

This hotel was ideal for our purpose, which was a short stay in Bologna as tourists. I think the room was fairly good value for money and overall I was pleased with the hotel. I would stay there again or recommend it to a friend. The room had a slight business feel and was a little shabby, although I wouldn't complain bearing in mind the price. Also, I didn't think the breakfast was particularly good but it did serve the purpose.
