I got a large suite in a neighboring property for a very modest price. The small price difference to a standard room is very much worth it. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel is an a quiet area, but only a few minutes walking distance to the centre.

A bit hard to find, but easy walking distance to every place we wanted to see. Quiet except for morning garbage collection. Nice bathroom, but push-type soap dispenser--on the other hand, the only Italian hotel we stayed at that had a razor and toothbrushes in the room. Very helpful staff. Good restaurant recommendations. Helped with train scheduals. Computer use easy and free. Even had loaner umbrellas. Good breakfast--gave us free second coffee.

The people at the hotel could not have been more friendly. It's easy to get to but a bit tricky. The Airport Bus (5 euro) will let you off at the Arena del Sole stop on Via Indipendenza. Ask in advance. The narrow street immediately behind the stop is Via Bertiera. (It's directly across Indipendenza from the Hotel Metropolitan.) Go up Bertiera. It's a bit more than 100 paces to the hotel. The sites, restaurants and shops of most interest are within easy walking distance. It's a modest hotel in terms of physical space, and you can expect to hear a certain amount of urban noise at night. But we walked a lot and fell easily asleep. The best gelato is at La Sorbertteria on Via Castaglione, 25-30 minutes by foot from the hotel. Well worth the walk. We convinced ourselves that we were burning off our dinner as well as the gelato. The staff can point you to many good restaurants a short distance from the hotel. We'll stay here again if we have the opportunity to return to Bologna.

Hotel Paradise is a little tricky to get to, but once you are there you will find a very friendly, helpful staff, clean spacious rooms, free internet and breakfast is included. We had asked to stay close to friends and they made it happen. Our stay, though brief, was very comfortable. We would stay there again!

We had the topfloor apartment for two adults and two children. Had to climb some stairs after the very small elevator. View on the two leaning towers. Apartment was nice, clean and spacious. Airco. Top roof which can be opened electronically gave view to the stars. The bed couch slept awfull, the two normal beds were fine. Bathroom was big, even toothbrushes and shaving gear was provided. Bologna is a very nice city, you can climb 498 steps of one of the leaning towers (EURO 3,-). Hotel is 100 meters from the main shopping street and a 5 min. walk to the historic center. Car could be parked next to the hotel (EURO 7,-per day). Personnel was very kind and helpfull. Breakfast was decent, but not a lot of choice.

Really nice hotel, right in the heart of old town. Very helpful personnel (the only thing: you have to prepare, that most of them (as most Italians) do not speak English). They helped me to find city center, gave a map, marked locations I was looking for, and explained how to get to airport with a bus.

We loved the hotel and we loved Bologna. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, everything worked. The only limitation was not being able to see out the window. The hotel is very central to the tourist sites and shopping and an easy walk from the station

We got a flat in front of the hotel - superb facilities for a very romantic feature and only 75€/night. The only problem: finding out the hotel by car- as the center of Bologna is a labyrinth of small alleys and one-way streets reserved to bus (even the Carabinieri told us to break the rule and take a street reserved to bus- otherwise no way to go to the hotel) So take your time (and GPS!)to find it out. Special prize for hotel staff (Ombretta mainly) helping us to distress :-) grazie mille!

Very friendly staff, they recommended a typical restaurant for dinner. We had to leave very early in the morning 5:30 am and the guy at the reception made coffee for us and we had breakfast! The hotel is located near Via Independenza and not far from the 2 towers.

We couldn't believe that such a well-placed, central hotel could be so reasonably priced; but it was. For us it was beyond all expectations as the location was great, staff couldn't have been more pleasant and welcoming. Best of all, we were given our own apartment in a lovely old building. We loved it and had an excellent city break. Lots of lovely things to do, see and eat just minutes from the hotel. Brilliant.

About quietness of room: Construction work started next door (not within the hotel), and even if you wanted or not, you had to leave the room as soon as possible after 7 a.m. But on Saturday and Sunday, it was quiet. You cannot have better service anywhere. Paradise was a very pleasent hotel, and the service superb.

We loved this hotel. Best place we've stayed during our trip. Clean rooms, hot showers, very helpful front desk staff. They gave us a great local dinner recommendation when we arrived really late, and helped us with phone calls etc... the breakfast is great - including eggs, and made to order cappucinos and expressos. Location is great - walkable 10 mins from the train station and the property is very central for walking around the town. I would recommend this place - great value for the price. And free internet. The desk staff were truly helpful.

Staff was friendly and helpful. We visited the hotel prior to our stay and the staff showed us a typical room and was very welcoming. Simple but great accomodation if you want to stay in the true center of the city. Very kind staff. Despite the modern style of the hotel, several small details make it really cozy. We appreciate the very clean rooms and restrooms, as well as the (not needed and not requested) change of towels and bedlined after one night for a two-nights stay. Possibly, foregner guests could find the location a bit noisy because of a nearby "osteria", but being Bologna THE university city, voices of students are part of local folklore. The hotel is located in the part of the city almost totally forbidden for cars, so traffic noise is not a concern. Highly reccomended

Situated in one of the best positions in Bologna, near Via dell'Indipendenza, but still quiet. Staff very welcoming, accommodating, they also knew the city well. I can recommend this hotel without reservations. Occupa una delle migliori posizioni a Bologna, vicino a Via dell'Indipendenza, ma anche tranquilla. Personale molto accogliente e disponibile, e sapeva bene la citta. Da consigliare senza esitazioni.

This hotel was a fun place to stay! I enjoyed the daily inspirational messages. The hotel was within walking distance from all the major attractions. We walked from the train station. Although we had a bit of a hard time finding the main road, we eventually did find it and were able to easily walk to the hotel. Every meal we had in Bologna was sensational! It's good we were only there for a weekend, for my waistline's sake!

I was looking for an inexpensive hotel in a good location for a quick weekend in Bologna. The Paradise met all of our expectations. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. They helped us find a restaurant on Feb. 14/Valentine's Day when we had no reservations and didn't plan ahead. Breakfast was the usual continental fare - plenty to start your day. The location was superb - about 10 minutes walk from the train station and less than that to Piazza Maggiore and the two towers. We stayed in the triple apartment with kitchenette. The room was good size. The shower was small but the rest of the bathroom was good size. We didn't cook in the apartment (it is Bologna, after all), this was the only triple they had open that weekend. My only complaint was the smell of cigarette smoke in the room. Obviously this was a smoking apartment - and I don't remember whether I specified a non-smoking room. So we left the window open to air out the room and it was fine. For the location, friendliness of the staff and good value, I'd stay here again and recommend it to anyone traveling to Bologna.

A big bonus with this hotel is that they offer guests a free guided walk on Sunday mornings which is organised by the Tourist Office. Very enjoyable and informative even in the rain. I stayed for 2 nights in February and paid 59 Euros for the first night which was a Saturday and 49 for the second. The double room had an en suite bathroom and the price included a big buffet breakfast. I really loved this hotel and would have happily stayed longer. The staff made me very welcome and showed me two double rooms to choose from. It's a vibrant place and there were little touches in the room which showed great care and consideration for guests. The location is good as it's a short walk from the main attractions but tucked away in a side street. If you're coming from the train station it's worth stopping off at the tourist office there to get them to mark the hotel on a map.

Our first stay in Bologna and the Hotel Paradise was a real success! We are 2 couples and rented 2 small apartments. They were spacious, clean and just what we expected. The owners are terrific - cheerful, knowledgeable, and helpful. Their restuarant selections were really good. The breafasts were very good with a big selection and a pleasant breakfast room. This hotel is not fancy, but it gets and A+ 100% for it's proximity to the Piazza Maggiore, its cleanliness and its cheerful, helpful staff. We'll definitely stay there again.

We had a great experience at the Hotel Paradise. It was a little difficult to find at night, but once we arrived we found the hotel to be a real gem. The price was very reasonable, the room was clean and spacious by European standards, the staff was gracious and helpful. The breakfast was very nice & had quite a variety of offerings. The staff also gave us a great suggestion for dinner, the Trattoria dal Biassanot which is a very short walk from the hotel. We had the best meal of our trip there--so good we went back for lunch the next day before our departure. There is also a fabulous pedestrian market street not far from nearby Piazza Maggiore with incredible displays of fresh produce, meats and cheeses. Overall a great stay in Bologna

This hotel was tough to find a night. We could not determine which bus to take to the hotel (we use buses often but could not figure their system) so we opted to walk. Once we got to the main road where the statue with the horse was we could not find our street and had to ask several people because the street sign was not posted. We found in the morning going down the alley would have saved us a lot of walking; who likes to walk down dark alleys at night in a strange town. Your sight could mention this is a college town so people would not be leary seeing hundreds of young men standing in the street smoking and drinking or smoking and talking in clusters. The hotel mentioned the restraunt Rossa, what GREAT food and very reasonable.

Perfect location; easy to reach; left our car in the Errani-garage for 4 nights (total 84 €) (consignation instead of parking)-good service- so you should add this cost to the cost of the room if you come by car. We stayed on a self-catering appartement with kitchen, small living room, good bathroom and two bedrooms (a small and a big one) on the 3rd floor of a separate building (elevator goes 'till 2nd). The airco was good and needed. Very nice, friendly and helpfull staff, also speaking english (my daughter speaks italian though). It was rather cheap early september (135€/night) and we found it good price/quality. In the cheaper months I surely would recommend it. Breakfast was included and very good and plenty, except the morning we took it at 9:45; at that time the choices were more limited. Internet was 1 €/started 15', as anounced on the website, and worked well. We liked bologna a lot; friendly people, proud of their city. You can lunch by drinking a prosecco at an outdoor terrace-table; that allows you to take tapa's at a buffet in most of the bars. For diner you can eat whatever and as much as you like. We chose one plate and a dolce with a bottle off wine. A complete menu is to much for us but no one complained and the waiters were always very friendly. It tasted very good and I surely would recommend Bologna for a visit of 2-3 nights; it's more "Italian" than Venice or Florence and everything is in walking distance.

This hotel is a little gem! Although at first it appears to be down an unwelcoming alley (with a sex shop on the corner!) be aware that many streets off the main routes in Bologna are like this. In spite of appearances they are perfectly safe. We are an older couple travelling without children and have found that, in Italy at least, we prefer smaller, lesser starred hotels to the big four and five star kind. Hotel Paradise did everything they could to make us welcome during our stay. This included making our booking on the free walking tour of the city run by the tourist organisation. (If you can, make sure you request this, details on their website. Although the tour is free the guide well deserved her tip.) Breakfast in the hotel was excellent, proper coffee and a wide choice of cold dishes. This was a first real stay in Bologna, although I had briefly visited 20 years ago on business. The city certainly lived up to expectations with many sights of interest, great food and friendly helpful people. It is a great jumping off place to visit cities like Ferrara, Parma and Modena and the hotel is an easy walk from the railway station. Bologna is a great place to eat and drink and prices are in general reasonable. None the less those on a tight budget should check prices before sitting down as snacks may occasionally be unexpectedly pricey although delicious.

We had a nice stay at Hotel Paradise. The room was very nice - one of the bigger we had in Italy. The location is down a little side street but close to Via dell'Indipendenza and Piazza Maggiore. The front desk workers were not quite as friendly as other hotels we stayed at, but they were fine. The breakfast was a little spread of cereals, older brioches and such. A nice woman did make coffee or cappuccino to order. They did have an elevator and space to store your luggage if you checked out earlier than you were leaving the city. Overall, it was a nice stay.

We booked a room that we were assured would sleep four adults comfortably (myself, my wife, and our two teenagers). The room more than met our expectations: In fact it was a multi-room suite, with separate bathroom, kitchenette, and small shared living space. What it lacked in visual charm, the room and the Paradise more than made up in service (excellent at the desk and at breakfast), in location (Bologna is a small, walkable city; the Paradise is convenient to everything), and in value. We went to Bologna primarily for the food, and we received great recommendations for dinner each of the nights that we were there.

This may well be the best economical hotel in Bologna. The staff is great, the rooms are well-equipped and very clean. The location is about a 10-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore, at most. We stayed for 6 nights in May 2008. The staff was great. The room was great. The location was out of the tourist traffic and an easy walk to everything in the town center as was as the train station. There were several great restaurants just around the corner. I would stay at this hotel again. Be sure to try the morning cappuccino, and don't miss the Museo Civico Mediovale e del Rinascimento. Ravenna with great mosaics and Parma with its great National Gallery are easy day trips by train.

The charm and personality of the hotel and its staff make it worth the stay. Everyone was always cheerful, helpful and efficient. Our room was spacious (though peeking into some others, it appears that there are vast differences in size) We particularly liked the skylight and having a mini-fridge in the room. Breakfast was plentiful and varied and the cozy atmosphere was a nice beginning to the day ahead. The only real negative was the somewhat dismal location; tucked onto a narrow back street (looked shifty and unsafe at night). However, this back street is just off the main traffic street, so it was very convenient. Also, this location was very difficult to find, despite the maps we had. This, in fairness, is not the hotel's fault. The location is simply not easily found on the maps we used. A more detailed street grid would perhaps have more specifics. All in all, to escape the ruckus of being on a main street in Bologna - a very busy and boistrous city - the Paradise is a good choice and good value. We were perfectly located; a decent walk from the railway station as well as the Due Torre (two towers) and the main central square. We love Bologna not only for its own enjoyment but to use as a base for day trips to other cities, easily accessible by rail. If staying at the hotel, ask for one of the larger rooms; you will enjoy it.

Highly recommend this hotel for its courteous, responsive staff and clean rooms. Wireless Internet in the rooms is 1 Euro for each 15 minutes; make certain you have logged off. Steps from airport bus stop at Arena Teatro del Sole, a five-minute walk to Piazza Maggiore; train station is a 12-minute walk. Excellent restaurants within a two-minute walk include Trattoria del Rosso, Via Augusto Righi 30 (10 Euro three-course lunch), and the family-run Caminetto d,Oro, Via de' Falegnami 4. Serious photographers will want to visit Foto Prisma, one of the best shops for classic Leica and Nikon gear one could hope to find in Europe (owner Andrea Ricci; Via Castiglione 48, a leisurely 15-20 minute walk along arcaded streets southeast of the hotel).

I stayed one night only for a fair, but I wish I could stay more! I had a lovely single room, not so big but large enough for one person. The room was very clean and there were many nice stuff around, like a little story to read, a card wishing good night that made me feel like home, nicely decorated in general. Bathroom was really clean and nice. Breakfast was one of the best I ever had in a hotel. Breakfast was a buffet of more than we could possible consider eating, the breakfast lady was delightful. Our room was bigger than any room we have ever had in Italy. The people at the desk made every reservation we asked for and got us into restaurants at the times we requested. We reccomend two restaurants in the area: Trattoria dal Biassanot at via Piella 16/a, it is just around the corner from the hotel. Make sure you ask the desk to make you reservation! Our favorite pizza place is Belle Arti at Via Belle Arti 14, 051 225581. The atmosphere is wonderful and the pizzas were awesome, we ate there twice.

We loved Bologna and found it to be one of the few remaining cities in Italy with style, charm and grace. The architecture is truly magnificient. Hotel Paradise is centrally located and within walking distance to/from the rail station. It is perfectly located for exploring the old city, with friendly and helpful staff. We recommend hopping on the open tourist bus to truly appreciate this wonderful city. The people of Bologna are friendly and helpful, the food in the smaller family-run trattorie are the best we experienced in Italy.

Great location close main attractions and shopping. Hotel was really good and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was lovely, spacious and clean. Only minor concern was our room overlooked a taverna which was quite noisy until midnight. I would stay here again and would recommend this hotel for leisure or business travellers.

My single room was very small, but had everything I needed and was clean. The location is good as the hotel is right by the bus stop for the airport shuttle bus and you can easily walk to all of Bologna's main sights.

Hotel Paridise was fine. But no more than that. We stayed one night , the room smelt strongly of smoke. Athough I had requested a no-smoking room. The Cleaners wolke us up by hoovering te corridor at 7.30am which is rather early for a holiday. The breakfast was very nice though and the staff we welcoming,

The directions listed were not very helpful. When you get off at the train station, there are many many bus stops in front and none of them are line C. Line C is across the street, out of view from the train station entirely, so it is hard to find. Alternatively, the walk is not terrible from the station - straight down Via della Independenza for the most part (about 10-15 minute walk). That aside, the hotel is nice, modern and within close walking distance to most everything in the city. Unlike every other hotel we stayed at in Italy, Paradise did not have a breakfast included, which was a bummer. Our room overlooked a couple of restaurants, which proved to be VERY noisy on our first night until about 1am. The second night was not so bad but not the most quiet place. The shower was also pretty tiny, if you turn around, you are likely to nudge the water knob. For the best meal we had in all of Italy, stop by Drogheria della Rosa (Via Cartoleria 10). They open at 8:30 and have amazing food with great prices.

It was sooo clean and we had a large apartment across the street from the actual hotel. Everything worked perfectly - we had a large kitchen area w/ frig and a large bathroom. I don't know what the hotel rooms actually look like. My only complaint would be that we could hear everyone coming and going in the lobby of the apartment building, doors banging, and showers going. But all in all, I would highly recommend this hotel and would stay again. Unfortunately, our friends who live in Bologna could not drive into the area. The centro storico area where the hotel is located is not approachable by private car; only residents of the area and taxis are allowed into this area. But for walking and taking the bus, the hotel is centrally located in a nice neighborhood, if a little touristy.

This is a 'one of a kind' hotel! Very clean, good situation between railstation and the old city. But the personal attention and the positive vibe of the hotel is something we won't forget. Travelled a lot (and a lot luxerious than this), but never experienced such a 'nice and sweet' hotel.

I spent two nights at Hotel Paradise with my 25-year old daughter and her college roommate. We had a triple room with three single beds, one of which was a Murphy bed that flipped out of what appeared to be the headboard unit of a double bed. There were no complaints from the person sleeping there so I assume it was comfortable. The room was very nicely decorated with the largest closet I saw anywhere in Italy and was less cramped with three beds in it than other rooms we stayed in. Paradise is a very nice hotel in a very quiet neighborhood, but within easy walking distance of the city center and will plenty of wonderful restaurants less than a block away in both directions. Pastries and coffee are not my idea of breakfast, but the girls both enjoyed it so that's just me. We would definitely stay at Hotel Paradise again; very good value for the money. One note: although the web site recommends taking the C bus from the train station, which we did on arrival, we found it just as easy -- in fact, easier -- to walk to the station when we left. It's not more than a 10 minute walk and we were toting plenty of luggage by that time.

located in the middle of bologna - the hotel was closed - nevertheless they offered us an appartment close to the hotel for the same price - great for families with young kids - the staff was very friendly and helpful!

The room was comfortable and clean. While I don't expect a single room to be spacious, there was very little practical space for luggage. Location is a block from the bus to the airport - very convenient.

The family room was spacious and very clean- ideal for a family as it also had kitchen facilities and a DVD player for the kids. Furniture is set up so that it divides the room into two, affording some privacy. This was ideally located for the city centre and very affordable with an adequate breakfast.

This is a very good hotel: comfortable, quiet, above average breakfast, reasonable internet charges. Very convenient for the airport bus. Compared to other similarly priced hotels in Bologna, this is the best we've stayed in.

We stayed two nights at Paradise Hotel and left with a wonderful feeling. The hotel has a lovely breakfast room that gave us a relaxed and good start for exploring Bologna. Our room where must better than expected. Thank you for excellent service.

As many have commented, the staff is wonderful; cheerful, friendly & helpful. Room was nice; no view but had skylight. Bathroom could have used some attention in shower and corners of rooms; mold & peeling were evident. Nice to have 'name brand' liquid soap in handy dispensers. Not sure if it was from inside or out, but every morning I woke with itchy bites (flea?? bedbug??) Who knows but this ended after I left the hotel for home. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to Bologna travelers. Located on a back street; not the most cheerful locale but very convenient walk to everything.

Hotel Paradise was truly Paradise! It is well-situated in Bologna, near the University and not far from Piazza Maggiore and other important sites. The staff was very helpful, spoke very good English, the breakfast was full and delicious. The air conditioning wasn't bad (and it was VERY hot while we were there). We had rented a car (totally unnecessary, by the way) and they were very helpful in arranging for a parking permit. One small point: the room had no windows, only a skylight. This bothered my husband more than it did me. Also, the shower was a little small. Nevertheless, we loved the Paradise and would say there again. It was a bargain as well. The hotel does have some personality: there are inspirational quotes everywhere and a new riddle at breakfast each morning. We loved it! We were on vacation, had never been to Bologna before but went on the recommendation of a friend who had gone to the university there. The food of Emilia-Romagna is justly praised; we couldn't have a bad meal there, and of the cities we visited this trip, Bologna was far and away the most delicious. It's also very close to many other cities, and so makes a great base: we went to Florence, Ravenna and Venice as well.

very personal, competent managment. The place is difficult to find since even people close by do not know the tiny lane called Vicolo. Ask inside shops once you feel close to it. Very conveniently situated for strolls to the city for food and sight-seeing. If you stay longer than just one night ask for a room with window to the lane.

Very fine hotel - However, we were upgraded from a hotel room to an apartment for our stay. That made a big difference in the size of the room. The apartment was a very short walk from the hotel itself and was very quiet. The apartment had air conditioning. Friendly staff. Offered fine, relatively inexpensive restaurants to go to in a city renowned for food. Morning breakfast was standard fare in Europe but was good. We enjoyed our 3 day stay at the Paradise very much.

We have visited Hotel Paradise several times over the past few years and this time we were given a self contained appartment away from the main hotel but in the same street. We always enjoy our visits to Hotel Paradise, backed up by the fact that we keep on returning. The location is ideal for sightseeing or business, helpful friendly staff and good breakfast. Would recommend to anyone.
