This was a gem! Very easy walk from railway station and to all attractions. Staff very welcoming and helpful with suggestions for restaurants etc. Best breakfast we had in 6 weeks of travelling in Italy and the most attractively presented. Room was small but beds comfortable and pillows by far the best we encountered. In most places they were terrible! Thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Updated/modern facility; Nice size for quad room; Within walking distance of train station; Great desk and chambermaid staff; free wifi (must ask for key); Larger than average bathroom; Some street noise but not too bad; Great proximity to historical center of town. Overall - very pleased with hotel and stay.

The room and bathroom were both spacious and nicely appointed although at €112 a little expensive we thought. The breakfast (included) was however fabulous with extensive choice and freshness. Our first time in Bologna and although our first impression a little tainted by the extent of tagging on street pillars and roller doors, by the next morning with the shops open, and regular activity occurring, we warmed to the city and really enjoyed all it had to offer.

I have stayed in many, many hotels but this rates as the very best. Beautifully and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was a superb banquet. The location in the centre of Bologna so close to the main shopping street and square, yet quiet, was perfect. It was so good we didn't want to leave. A wonderful, winter weekend.

Not what I was expecting, but the pre-Christmas snowstorm added a bit of excitement to my stay. As for the hotel, great location for sightseeing, restaurants, shopping, transport (but in fact I walked everywhere).

Hotel Metropolitan has a great location, super friendly and helpful staff, excellent breakfast, lobby and dining room have a really nice boutique feel to them, but the bedrooms could be upgraded really easily. Slight time warp there! Air conditioning worked and plenty of hot water. For the price, great value. Just needs a little bit of money spent on the bedrooms and I'm sure it would most definately achieve another star in there ratings

The staff couldn't have been more helpful. They were very informational and pleasant. The only complaint, which isn't really a complaint, the toilet tissue was a little rough. Other wise, it was very nice. I would stay there again.

The night I stayed there was a public holiday in Italy and the beginning of the main summer holiday period, everyone had gone to the seaside and only one other room in the hotel was occupied. The manager was very welcoming and gave me a nice double room just for myself. He also provided a pack of information which would be very helpful to anyone who had never visited the city before. Because the other people did not want any breakfast abviously it would not be reasonable to expect them to lay out the normal buffet just for me, but they asked me the night before what I would like and what they provided was satisfactory. I chose this hotel mainly for not being too far from the station, but it was also very convenient for the city centre.

Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We were traveling as a family of four, and the quad room would have included a cot. They graciously provided 2 rooms of 2 doubles instead at the same cost (we were traveling with young adult children so it worked well). The rooms are a bit cramped, but overall the stay was nice.

The Hotel Metropolitan was centrally located and an easy walk to shops, restaurants, the two towers, the train station and the University of Bologna. The hotel lobby was modern and fresh and the staff were polite, friendly and helpful. Most staff members spoke English adequately and this was helpful, but they were also tolerant if you want to try out your rusty Italian on them. The breakfast area was nicely decorated and had the best range of fruit, pastries, cereals and the staff made a good espresso. There is a lift, although our room was up a further half flight and then down a half flight of stairs. For a family of two adults and two young children it provided the room that we needed, although a bit more room space would have been useful. There was a bit of noise at night from the outdoor cafe across the lane next door, but it was all happy sounds and finishes around midnight. I would definitely stay there again.

Since the centre of Bologna is closed to the traffic car, only when I arrived to the Hotel the receptionist informed me that probably I should have taken a fine since a part of the central street is closed also for the clients of the central hotels.

This hotel was recommended to me by friends and it really is a good find. The staff were very kind, the room spacious and clean so that I will be pleased to return. I cannot say much about the correspondence between web and property as I did not look at that. I booked because I knew I wanted to go!

We enjoyed our stay at the Metropolitan. the only glitch was the air conditioner did not work and the staff could not get it to function correctly. i know this is an "American" complaint, but it was offered as part of the room price and we could have used its services several times. overall, however, we were happy with the hotel.

Bologna is a gracious city and the Metropolitan was a gracious place to stay as tourists from Australia looking for good, value for money accommodation. Staff are friendly, courteous and helpful, the room was nice and there were some lovely 'extra touches' such as tasty treats when we returned after a long day being tourists.

Personale competente e preciso.

Very pleasant hotel to stay in a quiet street very closed to shopping area. Friendly and and valuable advices from employees (restaurant, parking...) Possibility to have a room with three single beds which is appreciable when you come with your family. Certainly a place to recommend to enjoy Bologna!

Terribly hard to find. We had to stop and buy a map of Bologna. Then we had to ask a policeman. It was loud. It did have a great bathroom and shower. Venere may need to give directions to hotels via a main point in a city like "from the train station go xxx". This was mainly the problem we encountered with Venere. All in all it was an ok place to stay.

Not much to say - it did us fine for one night before we flew out of Bologna. Nice and clean, sky TV, spacious, easy walk into town. Reception staff didn't tell us anything about breakfast or checkout. (ask!!) Breakfast was better than most in Italy (although that's not saying much!!)

I was very pleased with my stay at this hotel. The room was BIG, felt luxurious and at such a low price (I paid only 55 euro for a Saturday night, single room)! There was a beautiful little olive tree garden across the hall and the hotel was quiet apart from ventilation noises from outside the window (when I closed the window that was ok). Nice staff too. My only objection to the description on your site is the location of the hotel - it takes at least 10 minutes to walk from the station and to the two towers.

Very disappointing, lower end of a 2 star hotel. We are well travelled and found many aspects of this hotel inadequate - the hotel is unclean, the breakfast choice is very poor, drinks in the minibar are considerably overpriced, there is a tiny lift and no assistance with luggage and we would question its safety in the event of a fire. Furthermore, on the two occasions we stayed, our rooms were small and dark (not as the specification negotiated) we requested 4 bed + cot and were given a cramped 3 bed room + cot for the same price. Sadly we would not recommend this hotel.

Room was small, but quiet and perfectly adequate for business trip. Location is great with the centre of Bologna five minutes walk away, but quiet, as the hotel is tucked down a side-street. The only slight problem was the lack of air-conditioning in the room, but at this price I have no complaints, and I will use the hotel again.

I was very happy with my 2 night stay at the Metropolitan Hotel & I would certainly recommend it & stay there again. The staff were friendly, courteous & helpful & most of them spoke good English. They were able to direct me to some excellent restaurants close by. My single room was very clean, comfortable & nicely decorated. It had a mini bar/fridge & a modern up-to-date ensuite bathroom. The room had very efficient a.c. which I needed as temperatures were in the 30's. The hotel is very conveniently located just off Via Independenzia & close to Piazza Maggiore & city centre. The breakfast was also excellent with plenty of variety & choice which I enjoyed sitting out in the vine covered courtyard each morning.

We were only there one night, and had to leave very early the next morning to catch a flight. The desk clerk very kindly called us a taxi. Our one complaint is that that the final price was some 20 euros more than that which had been quoted on the website, and the hotel never mentioned this in any email correspondence to me. Other than that, the room was clean, lots of tv channels, very pleasent, and a really good location, convenient to the center and the train station.

Although very clean and well organised with pleasant helpful staff a rather expensive and characterless hotel ,no feel of Bologna about it, fine for a work trip but we had two children so we picked the most central spot we could afford with a four bed room,no English TV so no point in paying for it ,no kettle in room ,small bathroom only shower, no local tourist info in reception .

I booked a room at the Metropolitan due to a last-minute change in our schedule and its low rate -- and room 302 was one of the best rooms in my ten days in Italy. The bathroom was excellent as was the location, the room was respectably spacious, and the gray-haired concierge (sorry, I don't know his name) was most helpful and pleasant. EASILY the best hotel value I have ever enjoyed in Europe. Be advised that the hotel is just down a side street off of the main street indicated on Venere's map.
