Hotel Reviews Giardinetto

The hotel was under construction, which meant there was an endless supply of dust and noise. The staff was not welcoming and kept giving us differnet times to check in. When we decided to leave and store our bags, they were left in the middle of the lobby till we returned 5 hours later. A.C.? I think not. I would not recommend this hotel, even if they were giving away rooms/

proximity to town was reasonable 10mins walk or 2 min on the bus right outside the hotel. staff - although a slight language barrier between us - were very keen to try and help whenever possible. Great cheap & cheerful accommodation in a decent area. Very pleased & will use again :-)

Not bad at all for 1 star, adequate room and nice bathroom, good breakfast. A bit far from the central train station, about 2.5 km in fact. Towels are the thing to improve.

Excellent value for money! The hotel is small, the rooms are not so big and not completely soundproof but are very clean, comfortable and the bathroom is spacious and well equipped.

Giardinetto is my favourite spot in Bologna. Nice, clean, 10 minutes walking distance from city centre and easy to reach both via car and via public transport. Good overall quality, excellent price/quality ratio.

The Hotel was located well for our purposes. 20 minute walk to Piazza Maggorie. Bus stop right out the front door great for 1 euro bus to the fiera. There was a great restaurant 100 meters to the left out the front door. WE made a connection with the staff on our arrival and they were great to our group for the stay.(they helped with dinner reservations and recommendations, and as there was no parking garage the told us where to park on the street. If you buy a one night parking permit for 4 Euro you get 1 all day bus pass). The only draw back and it is a big one, its noisy. The front door of the hotel is across the street from a hospital. Sirens all night except between 1 am and 5 am trust me on this I heard them all. Some in our group had different rooms and theirs were not as bad. Some of the rooms on the lower level were dark.

The location was a bit of a walk from the Central station, but value for money, certainly worth it. The surrounding location isn't much to write home about, but the staff were excellent (although didn't speak any english, but luckily I knew some basics) and very helpful. Breakfast was good.

it s quite far from the station, we suggest u to try to find the bus to get there instead of walking 40mins with your luggages.BUT according to the price, the quality of the room is quite good, especially the breakfast included is really goodddddddd!anyway we dont regret and this is not a bad choice if u want to stay in bologna for one or 2 days

Hotel di fronte all'Ospedale Sant'Orsola.

We were welcomed very bad. The lady could not answer in english. She also reacted very unpleasant to us when we asked where we could park our car (the hotel has no parking lot of its own). The hotel is situated in an rather unpleasent neighbourhood of Bologna. A good restaurant is hard to find, we didn't find. The rooms are not clean. In one (two person room) there was a chemical smell (odorizer) to give you the imagination of a clean room. It was terrible. Also the sanitair was bad, far to little (the shour is appr. 60 * 60 cm.) The beds are good. Breakfest was tipical Italian but not to bad. The people are not very generous and kindly. I thinks it is because we are not Italian. The Italian people arround us were treated a lot better. We will never visit this hotel anymore.

hotel is situated in front of the bus stop, a 20 min walk from the downtown. the only problem was the rooms are situated inside a yard, therefore are darkness if you do not open the windows, for that maybe you can be seen by the others. despite this details, rooms are well equiped and staff are friendly.

Camera fantastica e pulitissima. Nel comlesso giudizio positivo.

Although I had a small single-room I had a good stay. Nice people, generous breakfast (espresso machine!), everything clean and in good function, and not at least a top price/quality-relationship. By the way, also a TV-flat-screen in the room. Of course, you don't stay the hole day inside pragmatically equipped hotels like this, but who does so as a visitor of Bologna?

Real bonus for the price listed (double 43€). Deserves at least 2 stars. Clean, nearly new rooms, inside bathrooms. Optimal connection to city center (5 min. walk to the gates, 15-20 to the Two Towers), direct bus to railway station.

The hotel was well located for the exhibition that we were attending. The staff were helpful and friendly and there was always someone on duty. The only minus was that the breakfast area was very small - as has been mentioned in other reviews - but not a big issue.

Hotel is far from the station- take a bus!We had a very dark rather small room with very small bathroom. Room was next to some kind of "engine" and it was rather noisy all night and day long. We had a big problem with a hairdrayer which came on fire during drying... Pluses:Good breakfast, nice people, nice price.

Excellent value, a beautiful room, warm enough on cold February nights. The breakfast room was small but adequate, and the food available at breakfast is good. The hotel is opposite the hospital, but most rooms are away from the road, and there was only a hint of traffic noise from ours. Would definitely stay there again.

This hotel advertises and takes bookings over the internet. When we arrived at the hotel we found out that the man behind the front desk doesnt take bookings over the internet (He doesn't know how to use it). What is the point of having a website with a booking page if the staff don't know how to use it.

The reason we do not give full marks in all categories is that the breakfast room was too small so we had to wait. When we got seated the hotel was out of fresh bread and the (otherwise helpful) staff didn't seem to care. Apart from that we were very satisfied and the location within walking distance of the city center is very good.

The hotel was in a busy location near to one of the hospitals but the double glazing prevented any disturbance from noise outside. It was, however, a little further from the station than the 1 km. mentioned on the web page. There was a bus stop with regular buses to the centre of town almost outside the door which was convenient, and another stop 5-10 minutes walk on the main ringroad with the circular bus taking 5-10 minutes to the station. It might have been helpful had the hotel had a plan of the bus routes. There were also banks, tobacconists (for bus tickets, etc.) and at least 3 reasonable places to eat nearby. The centre of town was a 25-minute walk mainly along covered arcades it a characterful part of the city. The rooms were pleasant with comfortable beds and the bathroom clean and functional. The breakfast area was a little small but the food was good continental-style breakfast with plenty of it. The staff were helpful and we could leave our bags securely after checking out. Excellent value for money and I would recommend it.

It is a nice hotel in Bologna. Unfortunally it is not downtown; you either have to walk or take a bus. The staff was really friendly. I reserved a room for 2 nights and as I desided to stay one night longer there was no problem at all. My room was really big and the bathroom clean. The breakfast was good, eventhough it is a typical italian breakfast. Overall I would always go back there.

We stayed two nights in Giardinetto september 2005, and found it a perfect low-budget hotel. Breakfast was the best we got in our ten day trip, with stops overnight in a few two-star-"albergio".

The hotel was wonderful! air condition, clean bath room, tv, fridge... and it was extraordinarily cheap! I don't know but I guess that's because there was construction work in the hotel and it was quite noisy in the mornings. Unfortunately it is a little bit remote from the center.

The hotel is just in front of a hospital, and that makes it noisy with ambulances. Also there is no reception or bar or any place where to stay unless your own room, except for an outside area which is useless if the wheather is not good. Apart from that, the rest is fine. There is no breakfast offered, but you can go to "Caffe Cesoia" just round the corner(Via Massarenti 90) and have an excellent one! However, a kettle and some tea/coffee facilities in the room would be appeciate...

The room was very clean with very comfortable bed and good housekeeping services. In addition the location was good as it was only a short walk to city center with an excellent cafe for breakfast along the route. My overall impression of the hotel was very good and I think it provided good value. The hotel did not provide breakfast which was contrary to my confirmation from venere which stated that the room rate was inclusive of breakfast. We did have a problem one night with loud talking coming from the front desk area where a group of men had congregated. This was at about 2 A.M. and woke us up. However, when we complained the talking stopped and the men apparently left the hotel. We had a bit of trouble communicating with the staff as we did not speak Italian and the staff did not have much English but they did make an effort and in the end we were able to make ourselves understood.

Giardinetto has a reasonable location, just outside the city walls and close to the Univerisity district. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room was very clean, but small; the shower was placed above the toilet so one had to be careful not to get he loo-roll wet. There were no windows in my room and there was constant building work, drills starting at 7am . Good value? Not sure

We had a relly pleasant stay in Bologna at the Giardinetto ... although the name and the photograph on the web page implied a setting a little set apart from the hubbub of the street and the hospital across the street ... It would be helpful if the employees were capable of speaking at least a tiny bit of English ... since I can speak some Spanish, we got along, but for other guests, English as second option for communication might be advantageous. Also, since the hotel doesn't provide breakfast (which we were prepared for since they do state this on their web site), it was really nice to get a coffee voucher. But maybe there is a breakfast place to be found close by which would serve coffee on Sunday mornings as well? Just a thought ... Overall, we were really satisfied!
