Stayed July 2011 with wife and 2 sons (16 & 14) in family room. Perfect accommodation, breakfast bar in room so could buy food in local shop and make tea/coffee in room, big saving. Hotel short walk to city center, very enjoyable. Recommend to get taxi from airport as cheaper and easier than getting bus to city center. Certainly would go back to this hotel if back there. Also great place to eat on walk to city center, about 1km towards town on right hand side, La Bella Napoli Restaurant, food was fantastic and reasonable.

The hotel was very nice. Not really centrally located, but it worked for one night. Be careful about breakfast though. When we were going to check out, they said to go and enjoy the breakfast offered in the next room. So, we went. Come to find out, 85 Euros later, that they charged us almost 20 Euros a peice for basically a continental breakfast. ALWAYS ask if the breakfast is included.

We were so happy to stay in this Hotel. The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are clean and neat. Staff are very helpful and we were very satisfied with the services. It is not located exactly in the city center but it is within walkable distance like 20 mins. Just about 15 mins from the airport by taxi. We would definately come back again if we are going to Bologna again.

Parking garage is an additional 12euro/day. There is a PC in the lobby, not sure it's still free of charge to use (last morning when I checked out, it looked like it was changed something like 2euro/hour) Overall, we were very pleased! Some great advantages: close to the center, a supermarket just at 100m, the indulgent bathrobes and rich breakfast.

We chose this hotel based on its location which was good - great bus service to centre and also the fact that it had a bar and restaurant, as we like to have a night cap before bed. The bar was never open and the restaurant provided us with the absolute worst meal both service and food that we had in Italy. It really spoiled what was a nice hotel - if it had advertised no bar we would have chosen another hotel.

This is an excellent and well located hotel near the centre of Bologna. The main streets and restaurants were only a short 15 minute stroll away. The staff in the hotel were attentive. We received a free room upgrade. Breakfast was more than adequate.

I had to take my luggage myself to the reception at 5 o'clock in the morning in the elevator which takes only one suitcase. The room service was awful. Sorry but for the price and for a four star hotel. Really i don't understand.

Clean and neat hotel. The room/bathroom were perfect size, ultra clean and staff exceptionally nice. My husband and myself got stuck at airport due to a strike and had to spend another night. The hotel let us come back even tough we did not have a previous reservation, which was greatly appreciated. Also, the location is good.

This was our first visit to Bologna and although we were there on business, we were travelling with other family members who were just holidaying and wanted a hotel in a central location. The Grand Hotel Elite is a really nice hotel located close to the historical centre of Bologna, which is just a few minutes away, by bus, and the bus stop is just up the road from the hotel entrance. Bus tickets are available at the hotel reception desk, otherwise you will need a 1 Euro coin per passenger. Unfortunately we were there on business and did not get to do much sightseeing but the hotel provided us with an bundle of information about Bologna, showing all the interesting places to go, and the staff were eager to answer any questions we had. When we left we were presented with a complimentary CD about Bologna so that we can remember our stay. And the breakfast was great, probably one of the best I have had in Italy! I would definitely recommend this hotel.

There are better 4 stars hotels. Our room was damp and smelly because of a water leak and we had to change rooms. It was given to another guest! In general, cold reception and very business like. We did'nt feel like being customers but reservation numbers! The restaurant though expensive was a tad more cheerful.

This turned out to be exactly as I expected from viewing the info on Venere.com. I really enjoyed the hotel, and found the comments from others who had already been to the hotel especially helpful in deciding. Generally the Grand Hotel Elite had an upscale feel and look, (with an excellent breakfast), but was not overpriced. It was about a 20 minute walk to the center of Bologna, but I enjoy walking and felt safe even at night (of course, ask the hotel personnel before venturing out at night). I would definitely consider staying there again should I return to Bologna.

There is a problem in my opinion with this web booking. i booked a suite at his hotel. I looked on the web and as far as i could tell i was getting something similar to the suites i had before at the same hotel.however they said i actually booked a different room. how can i tell? i was v dissapointed with room given.

Having booked a room for a reasonable rate I was put into an excellent suite which, according to the pricelist in the room would normaly cost almost triple of what I paid. This may be because I asked for a non-smoking and quiet room, and that might have been the only one left, who knows. Anyway, my evaluation is therefore very good, but probably not a good measure of the hotels average performance. The late 60's furniture in the lounge exerts a certain surreal charm, for those inclined to appreciate it. The service was excellent.

This is an old four* Hotel, with very nice things and a pretty good restaurant, but the rooms lack some comfort, and the price was too high for the service and comfort provided, maybe because of one exposition in "Fiera"

The hotel was ok, but with one exception: I had dinner in the restaurant one day, and the food was terrible (lamb chops consisting of bones and fat) and so was the price. The dinner was put on my room bill, but the information on what I've actaully had got and what I actually should pay, was extremely poor.

Room was quite nice, only problem was a barking dog outside the hotel from midnight till 2 a.m. Staff was unable to deal with it. Other than that problem I think it provides a quality stay especially at that price in Italy.

We needed a family room after flying from NY to Italy to rest up in before continuing on to Tuscany and also for our return trip to the US. It is not located in central Bologna, but it is a short cab ride or a 20 minute walk to the town square. The hotel is very comfortable, clean and quiet (which is exactly what we needed). The hotel staff were extremely helpful in getting us a cab for 5 am to go to the airport. We felt that this was a very good value hotel.

The hotel was spacious and very accomodating. We ended up extending our stay for the purposes of business and found that there were residence rooms available which Venere.com and the hotel had initially not mentioned. This would have been more suited to our needs as we ate out and didnìt mind having to get breakfast for ourselves. However the staff were helpful, if sometimes unable to deliver on our requests. The rooms were clean and of a high standard, although parts did seem a little dated and could use a lick or two of paint. Overall a pleasant stay.

The outside of the hotel does not do the standard of the rooms justice. Parking was a bit tight in the underground carpark and an extra 16 Euros. We were made very welcome as we had children with us. Choice of restaurants in the area was limited. Family suite was very good, one double, one twin but with no air conditioning, just fans to blow the air about. Breakfast was just a buffet but with a good range of choice.

A 20 minute walk to centre, but regular and cheap bus service. Very comfortable room, but aircom noisy and didn't work properly, had to keep windows closed otherwise would be too noisy. Staff helpful and friendly, good English spoken. Public areas need refurbishing
