Location. Location. Location. Add the very helpful, genuinely warm staff and you have the perfect formula for an enjoyabel visit to Bologna. Whether you want to shop, eat or visit the historic sites this hotel is in a very convenient location. It is tucked away just off the Piazza Maggiore beside the church so you do not get the noise from the piazza. Wonderful breakfast. Huge selection including vegan and organic. Small bar in warm lobby was perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine or even a whiskey or martini and plan your next day's agenda.

Lorenzo was very helpful, esp. after my wife lost her jacket. When we returned to the hotel he had already called our home to notify us of finding the jacket, and he made finding it enjoyable with his good humor. Thank you!

This is a perfect tiny hotel with character in the heart of old Bologna. The desk staff were very pleasant and helpful in booking taxis, restaurants, finding out train timetables etc. Our room was a deluxe double so it had a spacious balcony, but otherwise was the smallish size you expect in a city centre hotel. Breakfast was a cold buffet with an excellent selection, down in a brightly lit converted cellar. I would very happily stay in this hotel again.

This is perfectly situated right next to Piazza Maggiore. The rooms are nicely decorated and excellent bathrooms. My only criticism was that the beds were rather hard! The breakfast was delicious. The staff were very helpful and friendly. All in all a perfect hotel to explore Bologna.

This is a charming hotel right next to the main piazza. The hotel and room were clean, modern (in a very old building!) and I enjoyed the facility very much. Free wifi and breakfast included were added benefits. My room had a view of the duomo and although the piazza could be very noisy, closing the window eliminated all the noise. I stayed 3 nights.

This is a great hotel in a perfect location. The only problem I had was I requested a deluxe room thinking I would get a balcony as advertised but found only 3 rooms have one and they were already taken; maybe could have saved a few $ but choosing a reg room. Staff was great, spoke English well and very helpful. Our green granite bathroom was a dream, loved it! No complaints but would have liked to have looked out over the Piazza...next time maybe.

Although the price was high-229E, it is a great location, with very easy access to the bus. Good restaurants nearby.

This is an exquisite little hotel. Quite remarkable location and incredibly tastefully decorated. Attention to detail faultless. The bathroom was fabulous with dark green marble trim. No free drinking water but that's a common fault. They allowed a late check out...always appreciated. A piece of history fabulously restored...highly recommended.

This hotel is located right in the middle of town. You can't get much closer. If you are driving, use your GPS navigator. If not, you will be like a friend of mine and calling the hotel to come find you. Bologna is a beautiful city. The hotel staff are great. Welcoming. Friendly. Helpful. They got us checked in, took care of the car, made sure the room was to our liking, helped with restaurant recommendations and reservations. All was great. Our room contained all the expected features but also had parts of the old, wooden beams exposed in the walls and ceiling. Very cool.

Excellent hotel with an ideal location directly adjacent to Piazza Maggiore. I stayed one of the sister hotels, Art Hotel Novecento, in 2006, which is also very nice. Excellent service and top-quality abounds. Not cheap, but an excellent choice in the heart of Bologna. Also, don't miss nearby Restaurant da Cesari. Fantastic food and memorable atmosphere.

Sculpture on the staircase, cathedral so close across the alley from our balcony you could almost lean out and touch it, antique furnishings (apart from excellent bed!). Lovely hotel, although room a little small and quite expensive. Excellent breakfast and professionally run, nice staff. Free fast internet access from the lobby. Good dinner in La Colombina, just round the corner.

Excellent location in the historical town center, better than expected (the plans in the internet have not been clear enough). An important feature was the car parking in the hotel premises.

The room was adequat, so were the public areas. I did all the same not have the feeling that our room was only recently renovated - as in the internet mentioned as a special advantage. Especially the bathroom was very poor, dirty windows, the furnishing was at least 10 to 15 years old, some parts had only limited operativeness - in two words: totally inadequate. The breakfast in addition could fulfill only partly our expectations - always when I wanted some water, some fruit, some cheese - it was always (at least temporarily out). The personell was friendly, but not really interested to fulfill our wishes.

The place was good and the breakfast was excellent. My only complaint is that we had requested a non-smoking room and the room we got reeked of smoke so bad we had to leave the window open-in December.

Bologna is quite the most compact and charming City in Italy. Made even more charming by our choice of hotel, Dei Commercianti.
