Australia, Sep 2009
Fantastic little hotel, perfectly located just opposite the Blois castle with lots of character. Our room was overlooking the castle and this was just magical! The room was a good size. The bathroom was quite small but we found it was enough space for us. A gentleman at the reception was very friendly and welcoming and gave us lots of good advice on where to park, where to go and what to see. When we arrived it was Saturday, so parking was free. We even managed to get a place near the hotel, however there is also parking just across the road. The only suggestion I would make relates to breakfast. It was 8 euros and consisted of bread, butter, jam, cereal and croissant + coffee/tea/chocolate. It would be good to add some cheese / ham as we found it was not quite good value for money. There is a little bakery/bread shop around the corner where you can buy baguette sandwiches and pastries for breakfast for half the price. Overall it was a great stay and we would definitely go back and recommend it.

The owners were very helpful and the location is great. It's a very old hotel though....and the street noise as well as the noises from the hallway and ajacent rooms is very noticable. Overall a good value fro the price.

Nice hotel, old and charme. Well situated, near the castle and the center city. On the weekend, have a auto park free near the hotel.

Annie is the best host you will find. She provided great recommendations for places to eat and even helped with making reservations. The hotel is central, easy to find and brilliant value for money. No aircon but you cope. We loved our time there, thank you Annie for helping make our last days in France so fantastic.

We've stayed in Blois during our travelling in Luara valley. The hotel is situated near the castle, in the historic building. The staff is friendly and helpfull. The man on the reception speaks fluent English. The street was noisy, but it is natural for the center of the city.

Apart from no air conditioning (then the price would g o up), this hotel is excellent & well situated in the lovely Loire town of Blois

Very good location, the parking very near and very good price for 24 hours if you arrive by car. Recommended for all the french style lovers, it is full of character. It is not recomended for those who prefer the modern impersonal business style.

Decent hotel for the cost in a great location. Very friendly staff and services were good. Parking is plentiful and easy there in the lots nearby and if you are driving around the Loire, this is a good city stop for a few days.

This wonderful old hotel was the cheapest 2-star hotel we stayed in on our trip. It is perfectly located for a visit to Blois. The manager was very helpful with local information. However, as we were there at a very hot time, it was almost impossible to sleep. With the windows open in the hope of a small breeze, there was a lot of street noise, as is to be expected in the middle of any town.

My wife and I, we had a round trip in France and stay 1 nihgt in Blois in Hotel France et Guise. Nice, small hotel, 100 m from the Blois Castle, parking is nearby (on sundays is free of charge). Very hospetable personnel! But was loudly at night because of great party in the Castle (most of hotel's guest paticipated in the party and return to the hostel late and drunk)

Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean. We really enjoyed our stay and we would stay again, however, the only negative observation was that the decor in the hotel and our room was a bit tired and eclectic (everything from 1960s to 1980s!)and rooms facing onto the square a little noisy due to traffic.

The hotel is right next to the Royal Chateau. Convenient location for browsing around town. Parking is at the nearby chateau garage which is 5 Euro per day. There are also some street parking not far away. Free wifi is available. We requested for a quiet room and was placed in a tiny irregular-shaped room in the attic! It was so stuffy and congested. Even a small electric fan didn't help at all. There was only one small window so the room was always hot without cross ventilation. The room itself was also less than basic - no shampoo, no hair dryer. To get to the room was a mystry, door behind door after flight of stairs. I couldn't imagine how to escape in case of fire. The hotel is actually a charming old historic building. We were disappointed at the quality of the room. It was quite an uncomfortable stay. The owners are a very friendly couple though.

This hotel is really excellent. I decided to go to Blois to celebrate my birthday and I have to say it was the best choice. The kindness of Jackie and his wife, owners of this charming hotel, was also really excellent. I have to say thank you for our wonderful stay and I really recommend this hotel to everyone and I hope to come back soon!! Thank you very much Jackie, Best wishes for you and your family Maria (Spain)

The owners/hosts at Hotel France et Guise could not have been more helpful in selecting an itinerary for site-seeing and suggesting places to dine. The hotel is very nicely located for walking to all restaurants and sites. We, in fact, walked the 3-5 blocks from the train station to the hotel. The bed was a bit lumpy and uncomfortable and the shower rather difficult to maneuver because it had no shower curtain, a very narrow bathtub, and a hand shower. That might be an American thing. We had breakfast at the hotel the first morning, but they had only breads/cereal/canned fruit, so a diabetic breakfast was impossible. We went out the next morning to a restaurant that the owners recommended. The graciousness of the hosts overshadowed any small inconveniences.

The staff at this hotel are very friendly. Upon checking in, we were informed about the Chateaux's light show (in English), as well as a dinner recommendation. The location is ideal (directly across from the Chateaux and in the center of town.)

An imposing building, perhaps a hint of faded glory, but charming. Superb situation within Blois - all principal attractions within 5 minute walk. As for Blois, large enough to meet all requirements but small enough to explore easily on foot. Ideal short stay location or as part of touring holiday. Not sure how busy it gets in high season, but April was perfect.

We stayed in Blois as a one night base to visit Chateau Blois and the other two close by. I had inadvertently requested a triple room which I only needed a double, so the room was very spacious indeed. It was very comfortable and nicely decorated. The receptionists were very friendly and the location was close to the chateau, restaurants, and shopping.

The hotel is situated in old building with squeaking floors and undeniable charm. The stuff was very friendly and helpful, location is amazing (200 metres from the walls of Chateau de Blois), view from our room (room #1) was on the chateau itself. There is large parking (5 euro per day) 3 min. walk from the hotel. Highly recommended.

This hotel is well located near by the Castel of Blois. Good breakfast and friendly owners. Nevertheless, our bedroom was too tiny and the mattress not comfortable. We were expected more comfort in our bedroom for a two stars hotel. We stayed just for one night in Blois, and the next time, we will choose a more comfortable hotel.

Nice hotel with a friendly athmosphere and very helpful and friendly staff (owners?). The location was excellent (the room had a view of Blois castle). The room is not top class in terms of quality, but has got a nice mood and the stay there was still pleasant and offered excellent value for the money. The traffic in the morning can be a bit loud (but you will only hear it if you are not a deep-sleeper). One advice: don't miss Son et Lumieres at the castle (the hotel staff even gives reduction coupon for it)!

The hotel room we booked through you was very satisfactory and we were very pleased. However we decided to book for our return journey and were given a very small room, facing a wall, which we found very disappointing. The booking through yourselves was very good.
