Definity it was the worse hotel in France in which we ever have been. The room was noisy, cool ( i have to sleep with a coat)and the bathroom was so tiny and so old that was really inconfortable. Very expensive for what they offer. It´s not a 2 star hotel. The staff was very friendly, but although in the web they say there are internet in the room and they told again in the hotel that in the room "normally" there are internet, it was no true. The reception was the only place for check email... No enought heating, no internet, small bath and probably any renovation in 100 years.

Friendly and helpful staff, but that's as far as it goes. The hotel was drab, dated and in need of refurbishment. Carpets were dirty, worn and stained in some areas. Smelled unclean. Our bathroom was awful, with black mold around the shower cubicle. The cubicle was so small, my husband could hardly move in it! Unbelievably, although our room had been 'cleaned' when we arrived, the toilet had been used and left unflushed! Disgusting! We went to speak to the receptionist about it, but no one was around. We did complain when checking out next morning. Would not recommend and will never stay again.

This is our first time staying in Blois. We like the hotel reception staff who is helpful and friendly. The room is ok except for the lighting being too dim and a little dusty (maybe because of the "age"). The shower has water leaking near the tap area. We were lucky to get public parking right outside the hotel on all 3 days there. There are also nearby areas to park though ie parking should not be an issue. Opposite there is a playground for children.

The hotel is different from the ordinary hotel from a chain and gives you the feeling you are really staying in France and the Loire area. Great location. Beautiful view of the chateau from our bedroom window. Excellent staff There are tea making facilities in the room. We did not like just one thing - the bathroom was a bit uncomfortable.

Hotel France is suitable for all travellers mainly couples and singles. It is our first time to Blois and we love the place. The hotel has a lovely facade facing the garden - quiet, excellent location and the owner / operator (husband and wife team) are very helpful and speak good English but not the casual receptionist. I highly recommend the hotel.

Acommodation suffered from a general need to be refurbished. Breakfast was a total rip-off. The area around the hotel was, in terms of culture, interesting however it everything closed very early. Restaurants were conspicuous by their absence after 6pm unless you were satisfied with fast food. The area for evening dining was apparently some distance away in another area of the town. Parking near the property was problematic or expensive.

Great location and beautiful view of chateau from our room - but decor of the room itself was very old and shabby and not at all like the pictures on the website. It resembled some 3rd world hotels we have stayed at....However the staff were very pleasant and helpful -gave us discount coupons for the castle and Magic museum. Breakfast was very basic - no cheese or ham only bread and one croissant doled out individually - cereal and juice only on the "buffet"

An excellent, simple hotel. Staff helpful, efficient and informative. Although on a main road rooms are quiet. There is some parking adjacent to the hotel and more in a park nearby for both of which one has to pay between 09.00 and 18.00. We found it an excelleny base...our room on the third floor faced the chateau, and there is a lift!

Very central location in a large, busy town, with all that implies, both positive and negative. The beds were fine, but the hotel decor generally seemed rather tired and slightly shabby. Wifi reception in our room (on the top floor) was practically non-existent, but that could be a specific problem with that room. Our room was noisy till very late at night - traffic noise, passers-by, a disco somewhere. All in all, the hotel was okay, but if we returned to Blois, we'd look for somewhere a little quieter.

The staff is fantastic, we first went to the Office de tourisme, they were not good, but the hotel staff helped us with where to go, what to see, where to eat - just perfect! The hotel is well situated, just by the Blois' castle. The twin room which we stayed in was Magic in two senses, it had a view over the castle and it was decorated with magic things, Houdin's room! The breakfast room with its' paintings from the Loire valley is lovely! Good place to start from when you want to see the Loire castles!

Best experience of the 15 hotels where we stayed in France. We had view of chateau from our window and a marble fireplace in our room. The owners were wonderful--friendly, knowledgeable, and were willing to spend time helping us plan our chateau tours, supplying maps and advice. The hotel has beautiful chandeliers and a lovely dining room. Hopefully, we will be back.

Well situated to the train station (about 10 minute walk) town, Chateaux Blois and restaurants. The couple who run the hotel are very friendly, speak excellent English and are very helpful with tourism information. The building is very old but this is part of the charm. The interior of the rooms could do with an update in paint and new soft furnishings. Would recommend a stay at this small, friendly hotel.

The hotel is composed of two linked buildings, and the part we were in (not the main building) is very noisy (you could hear people in the next room when speaking, it was like there were elephants walking in the room above, and there was a terrible noise from water pipes) - strangely, street noise was very acceptable due to recent windows. The hotel is very old fashioned, but the bed are good, so we had a very good sleep (that is, before people above us woke up...) Good continental breakfast too.

welcoming, good reception area and lovely fin de siecle breakfast room, very central, parking in Chateau carpark close by. Extremely hot so lack of air con made rooms at front very uncomfortable and noisy, did offer alternative room at back which was quaint and cool. Rooms were very clean, nice shower. Good french breakfast served by charming waiter/s. But hotel needs extreme updating in terms of fire doors, stale air in poky and tortuous corridors, thin walls, and uncertain camber on staircase, there is a lift thank goodness.

Can't speak for anyone else but the hotel was perfect for a single traveller like myself who is not after 5 star glam but homey and helpful reception. Fantastic location, price was rather reasonable, shower was good after having experienced some showers in other parts of the country which drizzled, bed comfortable. Above all Annie & Jackie were great hosts, both funny, charming and extremely helpful with all the questions and requests, and were very patient with my broken french until I eventually gave up. Noise did not present as a problem for me as it was rather quiet during the days i stayed there. I suppose at the end of the day it's just common courtesey among the patrons. Blois was beautiful, in my opinion better than the other towns (orlean, tours, amboise) to have as a base for exploring the loire valley

Fantastic little hotel, perfectly located just opposite the Blois castle with lots of character. Our room was overlooking the castle and this was just magical! The room was a good size. The bathroom was quite small but we found it was enough space for us. A gentleman at the reception was very friendly and welcoming and gave us lots of good advice on where to park, where to go and what to see. When we arrived it was Saturday, so parking was free. We even managed to get a place near the hotel, however there is also parking just across the road. The only suggestion I would make relates to breakfast. It was 8 euros and consisted of bread, butter, jam, cereal and croissant + coffee/tea/chocolate. It would be good to add some cheese / ham as we found it was not quite good value for money. There is a little bakery/bread shop around the corner where you can buy baguette sandwiches and pastries for breakfast for half the price. Overall it was a great stay and we would definitely go back and recommend it.

This wonderful old hotel was the cheapest 2-star hotel we stayed in on our trip. It is perfectly located for a visit to Blois. The manager was very helpful with local information. However, as we were there at a very hot time, it was almost impossible to sleep. The hotel is right next to the Royal Chateau. Convenient location for browsing around town. Parking is at the nearby chateau garage which is 5 Euro per day. There are also some street parking not far away. Free wifi is available. We requested for a quiet room and was placed in a tiny irregular-shaped room in the attic! It was so stuffy and congested. Even a small electric fan didn't help at all. There was only one small window so the room was always hot without cross ventilation. The room itself was also less than basic - no shampoo, no hair dryer. To get to the room was a mystry, door behind door after flight of stairs. I couldn't imagine how to escape in case of fire. The hotel is actually a charming old historic building. We were disappointed at the quality of the room. It was quite an uncomfortable stay. The owners are a very friendly couple though.

The owners/hosts at Hotel France et Guise could not have been more helpful in selecting an itinerary for site-seeing and suggesting places to dine. The hotel is very nicely located for walking to all restaurants and sites. We, in fact, walked the 3-5 blocks from the train station to the hotel. The bed was a bit lumpy and uncomfortable and the shower rather difficult to maneuver because it had no shower curtain, a very narrow bathtub, and a hand shower. That might be an American thing. We had breakfast at the hotel the first morning, but they had only breads/cereal/canned fruit, so a diabetic breakfast was impossible. We went out the next morning to a restaurant that the owners recommended. The graciousness of the hosts overshadowed any small inconveniences.

Nice room, old telephone! I couldn't use my credit card to make phone calls, because the phone had a disk, not touch dial...

Very kind and attention full tenants in an old, but charming building. To be recommanded except for those who don't want to hear what happens in other rooms. Very good location face to the castle.
