All in all it was nice. We only had two problems. 1. The shower curtains dindn't stop the water so the bathroom was full of water. 2. The people at the Hotel surroundings don't look very nice. We really were afraid when we came back walking to the Hotel at night. The rest was good.

Very nice place if you don't mind a little walk or bus ride to the sites. Staff was helpful. Lots of places to eat close by, and a grocery a block away.

Hotel is very centrally located. Expect many noisy youngsters during the weekends. Do not walk this area after dark. Very dangerous.

The hotel location was quite ok but I would have prefferred location a little bit closer to centre though everything (shopping areas, museum, old town etc.) was at 15 min. walking distance from the hotel. The hotel was close to the area (San Francisco) which was not recommended to go by the hotel staff. The surroundings was a little bit noisy especially at weekend. The breakfast was not included in the price which was good because I liked to have my breakfast every morning in different cafe. Bilbao old town was great, I really liked it especially the restaurants which food were excellent everywhere. I also visited San Sebastian, Vitoria, Santander and Bermeo as well as Plentzia which all were worth of visiting. There were great bus connection to all main cities nearby.

This was my first time at Vista Alegre - the room was clean, quiet, and as described. I do wish they had a bigger desk in the room, the one they had was pretty tiny. They advertised WiFi, but it didn't seem to work, but the next day, the guy at the reception gave me an ethernet cable to plug directly in and that worked quite well. I didn't find a lot of good restaurants in the area, but a lot of good places are reasonably close if you don't mind walking 10 minutes. Given the price and quality, I would return.

Excellent value for money. Good location, and friendly staff with a good level of English and helpful attitude. High level of cleanliness. Handy for the must see old town area, but best to avoid getting there via San Franciso cala.

This was the first stay in this hotel. The nearest transportation is the station "Zabálburu" of the Cercanías (next station to "Abando" (terminal)). It is the 3rd station from the bus station. Very convenient. I arrived there around 11 pm. The atmosphere around the hotel was not so good. Few people walking and few bars around it. The curtain of the shower was horrible. It was made of the cloth and absorbs the water. The floor of the shower room was totally wet after taking a shower...

Is a good hotel in a good place next to Toros Place so it´s easy to find if you get lost in Bilabo. You have to pay for the breakfast but the coffee is really good! You listen the people in the rooms next to you.

The staff at the hotel was really very kind and nice. The 3 problems I want to point out are more about the building: First thing: the hotel points that it has WIFI, but it is not WIFI, it's Internet through electric wires. Using it is free of charge but requirse you to leave 60 euros at the reception, in cash, during your stay. This can be un practical for people who don't live in the euro zone or don't have that amount of money on them. Second thing: the rooms on the road side are very noisy and the walls are really thin, this can be a problem for people who don't sleep well. This is really the only black point regarding this hotel, it can really be a problem if you are there for work and need good rest at night. Third thing: we thought we'd get rooms with one king size bed and we had a room with twin beds.

The hotel was wonderful, and the staff extremely helpful and welcoming. Our (double) room was close to the common/dining room, so was probably a little noisier than others, but this was only the case early in the morning, when breakfast was served. My only hesitation about returning is that the neighborhood didn't feel as safe at night as I would have hoped. However, we loved Bilbao, and I would recommend this hotel to others with the slight caveat about location.

the room smell very hard smoke ; the room was on the street side and this street was very noisy, all the night and very early in the morning. the réceptionnist don't tell us the situation of the room, that was a discovery , there was not coordination between the réceptionnist of the night and the réceptionnist of the day and the first don't ask the second that we don't take the parking of the hotel and we have to pay the parking. in fact, we can talk and tell the truth and don't pay but it was really a little hard ! at last, the receptionnist were not very very friendly...

I was very impressed with my one night stay here. The room was so large with a bigger than usual single bed and a big bathroom. The staff can speak a bit of English but you need some knowledge of Spanish which if you are in Spain should be a given! The staff tried their hardest to help me with all my enquiries and were very helpful. It is not so close to the Termibus but a taxi there is cheap (8€). It seemed to be a very central location. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

The location is fine. Overall our stay was fine too. Our rooms were small (but one only needs the room to sleep in) and the bathrooms were clean. We were given good information about places to eat. We were driving, and there were signs directing us to the hotel which were helpful. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Overall not so bad. Tha main problem was the unfriendliness of staff. We were ignored or acknowledged with no sign of a smile, more like if we wanted to ask something we were a hinderence to them. Otherwise only little things like no plugs actually fit the baths so i was told and lack of towels for the amount of people staying in the room ( that being one each )! Otherwise a clean, central hotel with adequate facilities. They just need some customer service skills if they wish people to come and stay again

Room was OK, though I thought I saw a moth crawling near the cupboard. First night we had some problems with the lock that were solved quite promptly next morning. Staff is nice. Price is high compared to other European cities (stayed for the same price in a much better hotel in Vienna), but seems to be rather normal for Bilbao standards.

All accommodation in Bilbao is somewhat expensive, and the VISTA ALEGRE cost us £45 per night for a very small double room with a cheap bed and uncomfortable pillow (yes, a single roll type bolster). There is no elevator, and our room was at the very end of a long winding corridor. Getting our luggage up and down was therefore a back-breaking experience. The positives outweighed the negatives only because the hotel is well situated for exploring the city on foot, and Bilboa is a great place to visit.

The hotel isn't in the most pleasant of surroundings, but it's not that far from the centre and from train connections. If you want somewhere closer to better restuarants and shops, you'll have to pay a bit more for a hotel. Vista Alegre is fine if you are on a budget - my room was clean and functional and the staff were pleasant.

Room (double booked) was very tiny and very very noisey from the bar/cafe below especially late night early morning. The male receptionist was very nice, but the female one 'obiviously' needs a course in how to welcome guests and smile and be friendly.

A very good quality 2 star hotel. I chose to return there a few days later. In the first category everything should read excellent except spaciousness. It is a 2 star after all. The 5 euro booking fee for the one night was reasonable, especially as I arrived late in the evening.

The hotel was OK for the price,62€ with taxes, however,on the Web site it stated that garage parking was available,it did not state that this was 6€/night/car extra, which at 42€/week is very expensive. Also, the garage was a communal one,not private. As a guide line in Spain we rent a private locked garage at 61€/month,not 168€ as one would pay in the hotel.
