Although we booked a double room+brkfst for 2 nights, paying 194EU - quite expensive - we were offered first a tiny room with a single bed. after complaining they changed it to a more spacious room. Aircondition didn't work - just heating - and it was hot. Poor isolation in the room. but the most irritative thing - on the second morning we had an early international flight; we asked and were told several times that there will be an early breakfast (that we had paid for in advance), but there was absulutely n o t h i n g but poor coffee and the simplest tea begs, without even milk, not to mention a piece of bread or a cookie. We left very disappointed and angry/

I regret that it wasn't possible for the maintenance to fix the hairdryer that didn't work while we stayed 3 days. We were offered to move to another room, which we did not elect to accept because of the burden, and we received a decent compensation, but it should not be that way. Other than that, your location, and the quality of the hotel, are really very good. We had a very good time with you.

What a great surprise this hotel was (as was Bilbao). I chose this because of the great discounted price (59 euros!) and it seemed an easy walk to the Guggenheim. Not only was it easy, but it was beautiful to walk along the river promenade each night and day. The neighborhood is upscale and it also affords an easy walk to the "old Quarter." The room was extremely modern (very high style), clean and quiet. The bar and restaurant appeared nice, but I was only here 2 nights, and spent my time at the museum and walking arounds this beautiful town! P.S. (my friends paid 4x this rate to be across the street from the Guggenheim--their hotel was nice, but no better than mine!)

This was a great hotel, wonderful locatiion close to the Guggenheim and the river. We had a beautiful view and enjoyed all the services of the hotel. I would definitely reccommend this hotel if you are staying in Bilbao which is a fantastic spot.

Because we booked early and over the internet, we got a really excellent price for this ****hotel. The rooms are good, with modern decor. The only criticism: the price for the breakfast. The buffet is huge, but there is no alternative, if you just want a coffee and a croissant. What we liked best: the location of the hotel - between the Calatrava bridge and the Guggenheim museum on the other side of the river.

Location of Hotel Hesperia Bilbao excellent for Guggenheim and riverside views. Their underground Parking essential but difficult to get in and out of as tight turns and narrow. We walked to the old part of the town and found a good tapas bar but could not find a suitable restaurant. We returned to the Hotel and enjoyed drinks and food in the very pleasant lounge bar. We would certainly recommend this Hotel and intend to try some of Hesperia's other hotels in Spain.

A slightly impersonal hotel, with efficient service that did not go out of its way. But the rooms are excellent - minimal, spacious and comfortable (we had a superior room with a river view). The enclosed balconies are great fun, and the design of the hotel's exterior windows is great too. Car parking is expensive but convenient, at 18 Euros for 24 hours. We didn't bother with the breakfast as 14 Euros is far too much to spend on a cup of coffee and a croissant, instead venturing out to one of many nearby cafes for a "Desayuno" costing only 3 Euros.

Very nice stay, great rooms with possibility of looking over the river. 5 minute walk away from the main attractions of the city and for excellent value. Also, the building itself is becoming a landmark of the city due to it's coloured windows. Modern Spanish Hotel with excellent value.

This is an excellent choice for anyone visiting the Guggenheim. I felt the room with the Guggenheim view was worth the extra money. We also had an excellent dinner in the hotel because it was raining heavily one evening. We really enjoyed our stay in the hotel, would recommend it to others, and will return if we visit Bilbao again.

The underground car park was difficult to maneuver the car in and in that regard was disappointing but it worked. it felt like the car park was made to it in the space available. We enjoyed the stay and the staff were excellent and promptly attended to any request. There seemed to be a disconnect between the design of the hotel which was excellent and felt good compared with the practicality of how it worked. For example half of the 12 volt hallway lights on our floor were blown and you could see the black flash marks on the walls where the transformers had burn out and i concluded that they hadn't bothered to replace some of the transformers or bulbs because they had given up trying We had booked well in advance and wanted a double bed on a no smoking floor and ended-up on a smoking floor with twin beds. It didn't matter and i would recommend the hotel and stay there again but there was a disconnect. I concluded this must be how things happen in Spain. We were two couples traveling together and the other couples experience was the same as ours.

High quality hotel, modern and quiet, very well located near the Guggenheim (5' walk). We benefited of an interesting promotion combining buffet breakfast and dinner for 27 euros. We regret that our request (far in advance) for non-smoking rooms was not fulfilled. The level of service by the personnel can be improved too as the price for the parking (17€ a day), by far the highest we paid among several major cities in Spain (for a public parking).

This is a very nice 4 star hotel in an excellent location in Bilbao. Though the hotel is not up to the same standard compared to some 4 star hotels in other countries, it was a very nice hotel and I highly recommend it. The hotel staff speak great English but note that it was a challenge trying to speak English anywhere else in Bilbao so don't forget to bring your Spanish phrase book.

Very modern smart new hotel. Ideal place to stay if you are in Bilbao to admire the Guggenhiem. Overall staff fairly helpful. Would have liked breakfast to be included in the rate. If I were to return to Bilbao, I would definately stay here again.

I would recommend this hotel, location was good, the area felt very safe. We were beside the old town, which I loved, small shops, and all very helpful. The monorail was across the river and this took us everywhere. It took us to the train station, also the bus station, and to the Guggenheim. I must say that I was pleasently surprised with the quality of the hotel.

Cool comfy rooms and cool hotel (despite so-so workmanship). Lobby was quite loud due to a wedding party upon my arrival but otherwise it was fine. Good location provided you don't mind modest walks to get to old town and down town. For destinations along the river it is great. There is a tram station with frequent service on the other side of the river that takes the edge off the walking. Staff could have been more helpful. I was looking for a laundrymat after having been on the road a few days and no one seemed to know of one. I had to ask for a phone book and find one myself.

The room that was offered at the price on the web site was not a room that was pictured or what we were offered. We upgraded to a better room, but had to pay 24.00 euros more per night. We then had a room on the front of the hotel with the colored glass sunroom as pictured. This was a good move as you then look out over the river and see the Guggenheim from the room. The hotel was a great place to stay and great location.

The Hotel is great for a stay in Bilbao. If you like design, it's an excellent address to stay and visiting the museum. The location is great. The breakfast is not included but it's excellent. Just one thing, we had our dinner at the restaurant of the hotel and the service was bad. Very expansive for the prestation.

Hotel looks nice and modern dessign (too much)but my stay was very accidental and disturbing because of dessign of showers that drop all whater out of the shower plate. Consequently I had to change my room due to whater overflows that filtered to below floor. I've been told that this is a common problem for all rooms and needs to be fixed sealing all floors of this building. "too much dessign"

It is just like it shows in the pictures. A very modern design hotel. I paid extre 20 Euros for a front view room and I though it was worth it due to my short stay. It is indeed the best choice of "not-being-downtown-but-close-to-it". Note that if you really care for a front view room you should try smoking floor because they are on the top and you even may have a glimpse of the Guggenreim Museum from your window.
