Hotel Ercilla Lopez de Haro - Bilbao

A very enjoyable stay in a friendly and welcoming hotel; all personnel went out of their way to meet our needs. I would consider a return visit. The hotel is well situated for access to the River (white bridge) ,Guggenheim, Casco Viejo and Plaza Majour (+ Metro system) making it a good base for exploring the city.

Having stayed here previously we were most surprised at the quality of the food at dinner. It did not represent good value nor were we served well, the waiters were rushed, impatient and in attentive. Not the usual Spanish professionalism or warmth. this was in direct contrast to the quality, value and welcome last year.

Wonderful, welcoming accommodating staff. They knew me before I could tell them who I was, had keys and museum passes ready for us even though it was a couple of hours before the official check-in time. No niggling charges for internet use, baggage storage or using the garage after check-out. Also a great job of placing our children and us in adjacent rooms at one end of a hallway. Very plentiful, elegant breakfast. Smart decor. We were thoroughly impressed.

Great hotel, cleaning and comfortable room well situad, just ten minutes walkman to the most attractive of the city. In conclusione best quality / price in Bilbao.

This hotel should be a 4 stars and not a 5 stars. I do not know the criterium of the stars in Spain. The staff very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast too expensive for what it is.

Excellent location in Bilbao! We loved out stay...and such a good price for the quality of room and service.

The rooms smelled of smoke, but since we switched rooms I don't know if it was the room or that the smoke came in from the outside: we had to open our window as the room was far too warm and we couldn't find any temperature control. This also let mosquitos enter the room. The desk staff were very nice.

Beautiful rooms, quiet, friendly service. The restaurant was closed Sunday evening, although one could eat at the bar with the same menu. The restaurant was overpriced for the amount of food served, but the food was quite delicious. I would certainly return to this hotel.

It cannot be considered a 5 stars hotel but a very good 4 stars one. The only problem we have suffered was the smallness of the room that. Employees have been really kind with us suggesting a good restaurant located in the Plaza Nueva, called Victor Montes.

Aside from expensive internet access (which we didn't use), the hotel was as advertised, well located and reasonable quality for the price.

restaurant was not open for dinner, probably due to special event taking place. This was unfortunate as menu looked interesting.

I had great expectations to the hotel, but I really don't find it is 5 star. Entrance dirty, lifts dirty and personel not that friendly (apart from concierge help to find restaurants etc. Really supportive ) Our room was so dated (and a smoking room). Perhaps we should not expect so much at the price level we got our stay at but frankly then I should have taken one of the modern 4 star hotels in town which would have given us a better experience. I'm very disappointed and feel misled because the website didn't state that we would get a poor room at the specified rate. Apart from all that it is a charming hotel contrasting big modern hotels so it has all the potential of being really lovely. Thanks Kind regards, Helle

Great location with an easy walk to Guggenheim Museum and Plaza Nueva and its tapas bars. Hotel was very comfortable and great value and bar was also a nice place for a drink before heading out. Would definately stay there again.

This is a charming hotel in the middle of Bilbao. The staff was courteous and helpful and spoke English very well. The room was small but had excellent beds, linens, and a very clean bathroom. The bar area seemed a little worn and out-dated, but the hotel was very well located to walk to all the important historical areas of Bilbao. The hotel charged 17 euros per day for the garage, which I thought was excessive. Other than that, a wonderful place to stay in Bilbao.

The hotel was great value. It was in a lovely quiet location yet within walking distance to all the main attractions. The staff were very helpful. The tram and metro are a few minutes walking distance.

We had a wonderful stay at the Lopez de Haro. The location of the hotel can't be beat. We walked to all of the sites- Guggenheim, Old Town, etc. We didn't have to take cabs or use publica transport the whole weekend. Our room was gorgeous and spacious. The staff are amazing. They were so helpful and pleasant as far as giving us restaurant recommendations, booking them for us and just general information about Bilbao. It was the perfect hotel for the perfect weekend getaway. We wil definitely return to Bilbao and we will definitely stay at this hotel again!

Nice room and very nice bathroom. Breakfast not worth money. Very short menu in the restaurant, little choice and not very interesting. I would stay at the hotel again, but take no meals, rather go to the charming café Iruna, only 5 minutes away.
