Hotel Carlton - Bilbao

Very enjoyable one-night stay in the Carlton. Great location for visiting Guggenheim and old town on foot, and car parked efficiently (if expensively) by hotel staff. Perhaps not quite full 5-Star Hotel, but very good value for money. I would certainly recommend the hotel to visitors to Bilbao.

Excellent hotel and service very good ubication

Staff courteous but not over friendly.As a disabled person there very rarely was anyone around to open the main door.Absolutely no information on hotel facilities in room eg location of bar restaurant etc.

Double room

The Hotel is ideally situated in the centre of Bilbao, close to the metro and a short walk to the train station. There are plenty of shops and bars in the immediate vicinty.Taxi fare from airport to hotel is 20 Euros. Taxi rank immediately to the side of the hotel, so all transport requirements catered for. Although Grand in external appearance, I don't rate the Carlton as a 5* hotel, it lacks the luxurious feel and attention to detail. Mid-table 4* suitable for business travel, which the competitive price reflects. The A/C didn't work in my room, so I had to leave the window open- noisy. I reported this but nothing was done about it, so same again the next night. A true 5* would have sorted this or moved me to another room without my having to mention it again. Breakfast buffet is adequate with a decent 'hot-food' section and plenty of breads, fruit etc. Every guest appeard to be on business.

It was a wonderfull trip in Bilbao with my wife. Excellent breakfast, a little expensive and a good service of "voiturier" a little expensive too. But the room was very good.

Realmente la relación calidad precio es excepcional. El desayuno buffet, magnífico, así como la atención del personal del hotel en esta sala y en el restaurante. Si al buen precio se le une el emplazamiento absolutamente inmejorable para disfrutar de todas las atracciones de Bilbao, no se puede pedir más.

Excellent place for a nice price. Only but is that they didn't find our reservation, but the staff was professional and handled the problem professionally.

Loved Bilboa - loved the hotel! Great location.

My husband and I were only in Bilbao for one night and the hotel was fantastic value for money on Boxing Day. There was a bus that took us directly from the airport to the hotel in 15 minutes and the hotel location is excellent. We were within short walking distance to all the places you would want to see. The rooms were great, staff friendly and always prepared to offer ideas for enjoying their city. We can be pretty picky - but there is no fault that I could think of.

Lovely hotel in a perfect spot to discover the Guggenheim and just a 10 min walk to the old town. Would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Bilbao.

Iwould return there tomorrow. It was wonderful, I would highly recommend it to friends. The location was ideal.

Rooms were very clean and the staff was always most helpful with our many questions. :) They had a great deal of ammenities available. Location was ideal. Great stay. I will return.

Best value for money for hotels we stayed in Spain. 5 star but at prices 3 star hotels were charging. Didn't include breakfast. Central location easy walk to Guggenheim and old town. Metro station 20 metres from front door and airport bus stop 20 metres on the other side. Business centre with free internet access was a bonus.

Great hotel. Superb location. Great service. Check out the menu del dia in the restuarant. Excellent value. Better than the grand breakfast buffet.

The Hotel was in a central location. The main shopping areas and attractions were in easy walking distance. The cleanliness of the Hotel was to a high standard and our room was serviced every day. The facilities included a Gym and a business centre which were free to use.

This was a genuine 5* hotel in every way. Every thing was as promised and we even had an upgrade to a room with balcony.The public rooms were stunnng - we had breakfast and an evening meal at the hotel and found both to be well worth the cost. The price was amazingly low for such a good hotel. We would love to repeat the visit one day.

We thought it was an excellent hotel, in a very central location, immediately adjacent to a metro stop. The only slight crticism was the cost of breakfast, which was high if you couldn't do justice to the very extensive buffet. But overall, really recommend.

THE HOTEL IS GREAT: GREAT LOCATION, AMAZING ROOMS, HIGH QUALITY LEVEL AND RELATIONSHIP PRICE/QUALITY IS EXCELLENT. JUST 1 DISADVANTAGE: THE HOTEL IS LOCATED IN THE MAIN SQUARE OF BILBAO AND AT WEEK-END IT SEEMS THAT SPANISH PEOPLE ALL STAY IN THAT SQUARE SCREAMING AND YELLING UNTIL 3/4AM IN THE MORNING. CANNOT SLEEP INDEED!

Very good accomodation in Bilbao and quite cheap in the weekend.

My overall rating would have been excellent, had it not been for the Fruitsalad from the Breakfast- Buffet, causing major stomach upsets. The rest can be classified as bordering excellence; phantastic value for money!

The Carlton was an amazing discovery. Ideally situated near the Guggenheim, shops and in the centre of the real life of Bilbao. The Hotel was everything we expected and more. Don't miss the amazing breakfast!
