Hotel Artetxe - Bilbao

Very difficult to find from town centre. Beware of one way systems and no through roads.

Pleasant small hotel on the edge of Bilbao. Basic but very clean and comfortable room which was quiet with excellent facilities. Great view from window over the centre of Bilbao. Staff very helpful especially regarding the disruption to the electrical supply (elec. company carrying out maintenance work)individually warning us in advance. Sat nav took us on a route 8 mins long to get to the centre although finding the way without it would have been difficult. Would definitely use the hotel again if catching ferry from Bilbao.

The hotel is set on the hills above the city in a country area: by car or taxi (15 euros) it is really not far at all but it is very easy to get lost trying to find it as signs out of the city are very confusing - ideally you should approach on the BI637 from the western end of the city and follow signs off to Artxanda (pronounced archanda) - the side road has kilometre signs and after 2 kilometres you will come to the hotel just after the 7km sign on your right. The room was small but quite comfortable and extremely good value - only one small prob - the water tank was just behind the shower room wall and made the bathroom extremely hot at all times - the shower cubicle was very, very small making the washing of feet very difficult! Only other problem was that the front door of the hotel was very reluctant to open during nightime hours with the key provided - it took a while to work out that you had to pull the door towards you to reduce the pressure on the lock to get it to open - we heard some poor souls knocking on the door because they couldn't get it open at 3 in the morning on two occasions - there is no concierge on the premises to deal with this problem!! Overall a good place to stay if they just corrected this small issue of night time access.

Excellent location overlooking Bilbao easy access to the funicular railway and links to the city bright airy rooms helpful staff had a problem with motorbike , reception wer able to contact local dealer and arrange repair. one dissapointment though asked if we could make ourselves a cup of tea when we arrived only to find at checkout we wer charged 10 euro's for the privelage

Great view on Bilbao city (located on hilltop), small and cosy hotel, the price is very reasonable

A friendly and comfortable Hotel situated high above Bilbao with a beautiful view and adequate parking on site. A steep but easy footpath gives access on foot to the city and the Guggenheim Museum below in about 20 to 30 minutes. This means that there is no need to drive into the town. It might be best to return by bus or taxi after a day walking round the city if unaccustomed to hills.

By chance, this was the ideal location for us. We had a car but did not want to drive into Bilbao. This hotel is very close to a funicular to take you to close location. Many good restaurants near by. Great location to explore area by car.

This family run hotel is an excellent option when staying in Bilbao. We were delighted and impressed by the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. The rooms are clean and adequate. The restaurant next door offers a fine Basque dining experience under a canopy of grape vines overlooking the lights of Bilbao.

We Had Little roblem With The Room First Given To Us But This Was Very Swiftly Changed And Full Marks For That The Next Day The Television Would Not Work And This Was Put Right By A Young Lady Who Was Very Pleasant And Helpful This Was Our Second Stay And It Will Not Be The Last!

Ottima soluzione: situato un po' fuori dalla città, ma con facilità si raggiunge il centro usando i mezzi pubblici, così non bisogna affrontare il traffico cittadino. Accoglienza eccellente, il personale è gentile e da consigli perfetti e precisi. Sembra di essere a casa propria, per la cortesia, l'ambiente accogliente, la colazione eccezionale e la location rilassante (non si sente nessun rumore). Ottimo per brevi e lunghi soggiorni, per single, coppie e famiglie... basta avere l'auto propria per raggiungerlo all'inizio del soggiorno. IO lo consiglierò a tutti!!!

I WOULD FIND IT VERY HARD TO FAULT THIS HOTEL AT ALL SUPERB ALL ROUND NOTHING WAS TO MUCH TROUBLE WE WERE VERY PLEASED INDEED MANY THANKS TO THE STAFF, WE WILL BE BACK FOR SURE THANK YOU.
