The staff were friendly and helpful, although some of the information they gave needed to be checked with the Office de Tourisme. Good restaurants were recommended. Breakfast was good, although the 'fresh' fruit was normally past its best. There was no computer in the Business Corner, although the Guide des services mentioned one.

Very good location. Staff were extremely helpful and spoke very good English. Traffic was a bit noisy first thing in the morning, will ask for a room on the back next time. Shower was excellent. Breakfast was good as well. Delicious croissants.

Lovely small hotel, small rooms but great staff and great location. We would be very happy to use the hotel again or recommend it as a good value for money hotel. Biarritz is expensive though!

Superb value hotel. Very clean room, recently refurbished shower room. Hotel staff excellent, spoke good English and recommended places to go. Easy to find - 20 mins on Bus 6 from Airport and five minute walk from Bus Stop. Hotel in great location a few hundered yard from the front and 5 - 10 minutes from centre. Would definitely stay here again.

The hotel key system was not working which required a staff member to leave the desk each time to re-open doors to the rooms. This compromised the privacy of the guests and was a big nuisance. The hotel had a group of rowdy guests who dominated the attention of the staff from time to time. Otherwise the hotel was fine though one should get clearer insights on where it is located. The location is not complicated, but requires special know- ledge if arriving by bus from the train station.

The location was great, within easy walking distance of restaurants, shopping, and the beach. The room was very clean but also very small, having hardly anyplace to put our two suitcases. As our room was located on the street side of the building, it was somewhat noisy as well. The desk personnel were quite helpful and actually spoke English which was very refreshing.

We stayed for one night in the Escale Oceania Biarritz. From the moment we arrived the girl at the desk was so helpful and friendly, from answering our questions about recommending a restaurant for dinner to the location of an internet cafe. We had 2 double rooms booked and we were upgraded when we arrived. The hotel is very near the beach, about a 5 minute walk. I would definitely book this hotel again for a break in Biarritz.

This was a surprisingly delightful Hotel where the staff and services are a credit to the hospitality industry. Though there were the usual noisy british guests due to a rowing competition, and not so good weather, it did nothing to spoil our weekend break.

Large comfortable bed - we slept well. Toilet is completely seperate from shower/wash basin area - not entirely convenient, but not major. Easy walking access to beach and centre Biarritz - just minutes. Very helpful and pleasant staff.

Excellent hotel, very central location and really friendly staff - always very helpful! honestly this hotel is fantastic value for money and just a few minutes walk away from the beach and centre of town, there are also at least three excellent and reasonably priced restaurants situated on the same street + the airport bus no.6 which only costs 1.20 Euro drops off and picks up at the end of the street - avenue la reine victoria every half hour - and only takes about 15 minutes from Biarritz airport. will definately stay here again when i return to beautiful Biarritz!

Hotel was recently refurbished so we got brand new rooms and the rate at Venere.com was cheaper by over 100 euro for a 4-night stay than the hotel's own website.

There was massive construction work in the hotel corridors. We asked to be awakened in the morning, didn't happen. Breakfast was just OK. Not worth 3 stars (only 2).

It was our first time in Biarritz and we decided to extend our stay. The hotel we were in was full, so we went to the Venere website. The recommendation was quick and easy and the hotel was a very good value. The desk staff was very helpful.

room like a box, filthy bedcovers, not enough light specially by entrance and therefore cupboard space.bathroom very tired and badly planned with terrible sharp corner on vanity unit holding the basin, difficult not to hit it getting in and out of the bath, which only filled with the shower!! i dont think i have ever stayed anywhere quite so basic, not even a rug on the floor and the ghastly pictures screwed to the wall,as if anyone would want to steal them. the reception staff were very friendly and helpful, except when we asked for an extra towel we only had 1, it took a few hours by which time we had gone out. dining room horribly cramped.

I have used the Altess hotel on two trips because it is priced very reasonably. Both times I have been very happy with the quality of the service. WiFi worked well, but I ended up using a close by Internet cafe 3 minutes walk from the hotel. Breakfast buffet is nicely presented and offers more than adequate choice.

The room was large, but very run down. The refrigerator was so dirty I was afraid to keep my bottled water in it, and the bedspread was not clean looking. The shower was cracked and not in good repair. The worst thing, though, was the neon sign outside of our window, which started blinking before midnight, and blinked all night long. This was incredibly annoying. The location of the hotel is very nice, but for the price, it is quite old and run down. Not in a charming way, as are some buildings, but simply not kept in good repair. Everything needs an upgrade. If you stay in this area, though, there is an excellent restaurant called "Sur Measure" just nearby. You can read more about that place here: http://www.fra.cityvox.fr/restaurants_biarritz/sur-mesure_200040747/Profil-Lieu

Excellent location - small hotel so individual attention provided. Good self service breakfast and staff happy to give advice on where to go and what to do. 300 metres from Grand Plage in Biarritz and parking very useful at height of season. Highly recommended

We enjoyed our stay at the Altess very much. The one difficulty we had, although not that important given we survived, was remembering the several codes to be punched into a keypad to gain access to the garage, and into the hotel after 10 p.m. We thought we were trapped inside the garage the first night because the door to the lobby was locked and no one was available inside to let us in. It was about 10:05 p.m. Fortunately, we remembered there was another keypad inside the garage with a different code that was displayed on a piece of paper above the pad (but not easily known to us perhaps because of being "Lost in Translation." We tried the code for opening the garage from the outside, but it didn't work = then one of us remembered the other code was posted on the paper. When we got out of the garage, it was only by the grace of God that one of us remembered the code for opening the door to the lobby. Otherwise, all was well and we loved the stay.
