Hotel Alcyon - Biarritz

Lovely well appointed owner-run hotel. Good welcome on arrival. Very convenient for town centre. Car parking is on-street pay parking or around corner in underground car park(€9 per day).

Excellent and affordable hotel close to everything!

This was my first time in Biarritz. Hotel Alcyon is definitely a hotel I would come back to. Beautiful decorated room, clean and friendly. Excellent location, only three minutes from the beach.

Un hotel molto pulito a 300 m. dal mare. Molto tranquillo e silenzioso.

Bathroom was tiny and the drains smelled all the time we were there. Unacceptable accommodation

We were 4 ladies staying at the hotel which we found excellent, the only flaw was the noise from the streets below the rooms late at night(lots of shouting and singing etc. Otherwise a lovely friendly and clean hotel just perfect for the centre of Biarritz.

Ideal city centre location, very clean, good value, some noise at night from neighbourhood party otherwise quiet. Got upgrade to superior room at no extra cost - would book better room next time BUT no way to do this on website ! Railway station in Biarritz is way outside city - local station closed in 1991 - some hotel details say near to station but this is wrong. Biarritz is a lovely city to visit for a couple of days, also go to St Jean de Luz some half hour bus ride away. Biarritz very near the airport.

Excellent hotel. Extremely quiet, clean, attractive. Undoubtedly the best of the 2 hotels we stayed in in Biarritz over the week! Only one drawback: there is no cafe or sitting-room where you can enjoy a coffee and relax and of course no restaurant. It is however close to the main square, place Clemenceau with lots of choice of cafes, as well as an excellent and very friendly corner cafe, the closest to the hotel, called Cafe Kirola. There are lots of gorgeous patisseries and chocolate specialists close by too, so no need to take the hotel breakfast. We loved it and will be returning to it nonetheless.

Friendly staff, enjoyable stay.

Very classy hotel, well situated at the centre of Biarritz. The one problem was the outside noise. Event though the double glazing was efficient, as the days we stayed were very warm, we has to keep windows slightly open and the level of noise was very high as the hotel is at the junction of 2 busy streets.

Nice location in the middle of Biarittz.Staff was polite.

Room [standard room] a good size, bathroom very good size. Room furnishings excellent and as indicated. Very friendly welcome from young lady receptionist. Requests were handled quickly and with a smile. Location within easy 3 minute walk from centre, and a further 3 minutes to seafront.

Staff were welcoming and receptive to our many inquiries in broken French. Street noise was loud at night with revellers making their way home at 5am and their is no air con for those hot humid nights. Other than that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and it is right in the centre of Biarritz.

We really loved the Alcyon hotel, because it was near the beach in the center of Biarritz and although very quiet. The staff spoke a few words English, enough to get everything we want. The room was very nice, we had a flat tv, but no minibar what a pity. All in all a great hotel.

Stayed in a Comfort room.Room about 3mts sq.Bed very hard.Bathroom the smallest we have ever had to use,about 1mt. wide.Room clean but very basic.The worse thing was the street noise.Cars lorries motorcycles and building works.Did not have one good nights sleep.Did not try breakfast half the price in town.Booked this hotel on the stength of the reviews and photographs.Beware.Most 3star hotels in France are of poor quality.Stick to 4star or national chains such as Mercure,Novetel etc.

THE HOTEL WAS VERY NICE, AND VERY HANDY TO THE CENTRE, AND BEACH ETC. STAFF WERE VERY HELPFULL. ONLY THING I WOULD BE WARY OFF IS THE BREAKFAST. ITS NOT WORTH GETTING, AND IS 11 EURO EACH. OTHERWISE REALLY NICE PLACE TO STAY.

Spacious room, quiet. Central, short walk to centre.

Hotel Alcyon is a small stylish hotel, extremely clean & tranquil. It is located one street back from the casino which is on the sea front. We were able to park on the street outside the hotel (meter system), however a public car park is located closeby. There is a pin code system to access the hotel in the evening & so we felt very secure staying here. I promise you will not be disappointed if you like to stay in comfort.

You should not be so hungry : the breakfast is very light !

Fabulous Hotel - compeditively priced - Excellent Staff - in the Centre of Biarritz.

A beautiful boutique-style hotel, with friendly, helpful staff in a central location in Biarritz. However, it is not located 'a few step' from the station as stated on the website. It is a good bus journey away! The bus from the train station will bring you to the foot of a short hill up to the Alcyon, on Rue Larralde, beside Place Clemenceau for just €1.20.

The rooms were clean and nice with shutters and black out blinds so the room was nice and dark. The only thing I would suggest is more towels in the bedrooms. There was only one large towels supplied for a double room and about 4 small hand towels. For a couple shairing a room, we had to share a bath towel as the other towels were tiny. Water in the rooms or coffee making facilities would be an added nice thing to have. I did not have breakfast so cannot comment on this. The staff were very pleasant and helpfula nd a room available to leave luggage on the day of check out. Very reasonable price and well worth it. In the centre of town aswell

Breakfast and taxe for the stay in the town non inclusive. The breakfast is a buffet, but there is not much choice.The price is chip:3 euro

Very welcoming good location very clean our dog was also made welcome,breakfast adequate in the hotel,lots of choice of restaurants in the town.

A fabulous hotel. Well located for the centre of Biarritz. Staff very helpful and welcoming. Rooms clean and warm and decorated to a high standard. Breakfast great value at 9 euro...good variety and freshly squeezed orange juice! I would love to return to this hotel in the future.

The Alcyon is well a well placed boutique style hotel close to the centre of Biarritz. Staff are welcoming and efficient, the rooms vary in size but are all attractive and comfortable. Breakfast is typically continental but the dining room and service enhances the experience. Excellent value for money. There is free street parking 300m away on the way back towards the airport. The Brasserie on Rue du Centre is the real thing. Bidart is pretty with a quiet beach. French route signage is appalling, if you want to visit St Jean Pied de Port in the Pyrenees,very worthwhile,look for the tiny Campo reference at the bottom of the sign past the airport on the way to Bayonne.

This hotel is one of my favorites in Europe so far. Public areas combine beautiful old wood trim with sleek, modern furniture. The room decor was quite modern and tasteful and the large window allowed the room to be bright and airy. Even with windows closed, weekend street noise can be a bit loud if you're sensitive to that (the hotel is just a couple blocks from the "happening" square). Bathrooms were small but still quite nice by European standards. The whole place was very clean. Cannot comment on the breakfast as we passed on that in favor in getting coffee in town. Note that you're on your own for parking and the hotel is a bit tricky to find the first time, even with GPS.

Comfortable stylish rooms with simple but fresh continental breakfast. Relaxed understated ambience. Centrally located. Only potential disadvantage is that it's on the corner of two small streets, which are minor but nonetheless busy enough to make the bedrooms noisy in warm months because there is no air conditioning.

They offered free use of PC and internet.One of the employees was not only not helpful , but also unfriendly

"Free parking" mentioned at Web was found to be wrong.

Clost to town centre though map not good-had to ask directions.Room fine for price. Breakfast O.K. b ut not particularly good value.No ashtrays available so obviously a no smoking venue.This should be pointed out.
