If you check daily rates you can book this hotel at reasonable prices and perhaps stay elsewhere when it becomes prohibitive. Restaurant down stairs is a hidden gem- not cheap but very high quality.Breakfast very dear at 18€- suggest you go to Clemenceau square or better still to the market( tapas stall) where you can get an omellette for €2!

I was perfectly happy with my stay in the Grand Tonic. Having read reviews on other websites I was slightly pessimistic about the place but I think it offers pretty good value for money. It is not an overly-luxurious 4 star hotel, but has a great location (NB not quite on the sea front, but less than a minute's walk to the beach and close to bars, restaurants and shops), clean and reasonably spacious rooms and bathrooms and friendly and helpful staff. Don't stay here if you want a typically French or character-ful hotel; it's a fairly standard place and from the inside you could be in virtually any city in the world. It does not have good views of the ocean or town or anything like that. Do stay here if you want a reasonably priced 3/4* hotel with a nice clean room and bathroom and a great location from which to enjoy the town and the beach.

Very expensive, for over 300 Euros per night I 'd expect something different! Everything was quite fine, but much too expensive!! WiFi for 8 Euro/hour

Hotel : good in general Restaurant : very good cooking but the service could be better Breakfast : the coffee pot was empty, I had to ask to get some coffee, and then the coffee was just water, and the waitress said this was the way she used to do it !! Web pages ; they do not show the services offered in the room (hair drier,...), I had to phone to know what was offered. Reservation : the reservation was not entered properly from the web site. When I phoned to change the dates, I discovered my reservation was not effective !!!

A very comfortable hotel, very corteous and helpful staff, perfectly located in the heart of the town. A very enjoyable stay.

Fairly good hotel overall with some room for improvement. Main shortcomings: limited choice of services, expensive internet connection, poor minibar selection and rather noisy rooms on the street side (ac not working, had to keep widow open)

The advertised spa baths were unusable (dials on the timers removed) and the breakfast was lamentable. Hallway lights hard to find at night - none near the elevators.

I stayed this hotel for 3 nights on my business at the begining of the November. The room was almost as same as the one I expected. The good points were the followings; The hotel is not directly facing the beach, but its location was nice and safe so that I could walk to the city center, restaurant zone and the beach in a few minutes. The room was not new but well designed, wide and clean. The persons of the reception were very helpfull and competent when I asked them to recommend the good seafood restaurants near the hotel and to use PC printer. The restaurants in the hotel also served a nice dinner with a good atomosphere. The bad points were the followings; There was no indication in the room how to use the jet bath and mist sauna, and the sauna was not functioned. The breakfast costed 14 Euro per day, and was not included in the room rate this site offered. The breakfast was the continental one (bread, ham, cheese, fruits, yogurt, etc.) with good qualities, but I think the price was a little expensive compared with its variety of the assortments. The WiFi connection (EUROSPOT) was available, but was not free of charge and I had to pay for the connection about 10 EURO per day. My overall impression on this hotel was good, and I love this city.

A very enjoyable over night stay. However, it would have been nice to see coffee/tea making facilities in the room - this is our only criticism. Very obliging, polite and courteous staff - always willing to help. Thanx.
