Hotel City am Bahnhof - Bern

Excellent location for train travelers - right across the street from the station. Room quiet and nice size (ours had a balcony). WiFi is expensive. Didn't eat breakfast here because it wasn't included in the hotel price and was expensive.

We travel by train in Europe, and loved this hotel right across the street from the main station. It was on the edge of Old Town, and close to many attractions of the city. The breakfast was OK, and appropriate for the price. The room was large compared to the other places we stayed during our 3-week stay in Switzerland. "Starbucks" was at the end of the block making this location perfect for us. On Sundays many restaurants are closed in Bern, but the train station provided a Co-op for groceries, and varied places to eat. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Bern, Switzerland.

I took the advice of "Lonely Planet" in booking this place. It is rather pale green, as mentioned, but rooms are a good size and location very good.

Room door handle was broken... Elevator very small... Breakfast area totally uninspiring and the breakfast personnel was uninterested in the customer. The minimalist breakfast buffet was poor (a total surprise for Switzerland). I took a chance on this hotel because it was part of the Fassbind chain. I have had in the past excellent experiences with them. This hotel was disappointing but not a dump. Nevertheless, I shall not go back to this hotel the next time I am in Bern. I could only recommend this hotel to people on an extremely tight budget.

Well.. when i got to the hotel the man in the lobby told me that i did not have a reservation.. i had to write down my name and then he could find it.It took about 10 minutes for me to convince him that i really had a reservation.. so maybe the staff needs to learn a few more languages^^

We took train trips every day for four days to Day 1 - Lucerne,Day 2 - Golden Pass, Day 3 Interlaken, Day 4 - Zermatt. We also took the TGV train from Paris to Bern and Bern to Paris. The Hotel location was perfect. The rooms were very nice with some street noise from buskers befor 10:00 pm.

It's location is quite convenient, right at the opposite side of train station, and not far from old town for shopping. But seems quite old rooms with simple furnatures,quite small TV.

This hotel is very close to the train station so it was very convient for me and my children! The beds were soft so it was a delight, the breakfast was so-so but could have been better. The TV was, like everyone had said - a small one. The bathroom was very spacious as well. The thing is, there were no aircons there at all neither were we offered with a fan but just the cool air or Switzerland which isn't bad just that there were a lot of noise outside not to mention the church bell ringing for hours on a Sunday morning! But other than that, the hotel is fine. Didn't expect too much from it anyways.
