- be sure to ask for a quiet room, the front of the hotel is a busy street and there is no air conditioning; - it's criminal that hotels do not offer free wi-fi when they are charging over 100 euro per night. The one computer in the lobby was very dirty and the mouse did not work well; cost for wi-fi is over 10 euro/24-hr; - likewise, many hotels now have self service coffee machines in the breakfast room, at the prices charged by this hotel they should too, the coffee served at breakfast was quite bad; - the rooms were clean and the staff were very nice, I guess I just expect a few easy things (wi-fi, decent coffee) when I am paying 160 euro/night!

Excellent, value-for-money hotel with friendly and attentive staff who speak perfect English. The rooms have somehow retained a pre-war look with high ceilings and original looking-features. The breakfast is spectacular with a wide range of healthy and/or indulgent options and great freshly-made coffee. The room TV provides a wide range of German and other channels including BBC World and CNN for English speakers. Surrounding area is what it is. The U-Bahn is two minutes walk away with easy connections to the centre for ~€2. Alternatively, Berlin's efficient and professional taxis will do the same journey for under €10. There is a super-friendly bar on the corner with engaging and generous locals passing out Schnapps to innocent English visitors; the other direction there is a generous beer-hall style restaurant with enormous portions and great beer. The zoo and park are an easy walk away. In conclusion; a very good hotel which provides top-class accomodation at the price and doesn't lose out by being away from the centre of Berlin. Heartily recommended.

My husband and I (late 20s early 30s couple) enjoyed our stay at Tiergarten. The room was decorated nicely and was clean and it even had a flat screen TV, a free use safe, and a minibar. The room wasn't big, but we didn't need a large room. The breakfast buffet was AMAZING! From fresh fruit to warm home-baked bread and meats--they had it all and displayed it beautifully. Only negative is that it's a bit far away from downtown, but there is a convieninet TXL bus that is very close to the hotel that will take you to and from the airport as well as downtown. It is also very close to a metro stop. If the weather is nice, you can walk downtown along the river and explore more of the city on foot. I highly recommend this hotel if you'd not like to pay high prices of downtown but still enjoy a nice stay with an AWESOME breakfast.

Staff are very accomodating and have great knowledge of all the location of important monuments and places to see. They are prompt in their service and always willing to help. Location is the only setback compared of course to areas near zoo and central station but transpo are available within.

An excellent hotel, well situated just a few steps from Turmstrasse U bahn station and on the TXL bus route to Tegel/ Hauptbahnhof/ Brandenburger Tor. Spacious rooms and a sumptuous buffet breakfast. Free internet access in the lobby, wi-fi (rather expensive) in the rooms.

The breakfast staff were a little slow in serving tea and coffee at breakfast time at the weekend, because they were overstretched. The quality of the tea was not up to the standard of other items available at breakfast which were generally very good. The tea was weak and the option of stronger english tea would have been appreciated. Generally the hotel was very good with extremely helpful staff. I would definitely return to the hotel and recommend it to others.

Fantastic place. Easily (15 min) accessible from the airport, and dirt simple to get downtown to shopping etc (15 min). Room was like a north american boutique hotel. the only issue was that the price i paid on-line didn't include breakfast, whereas the fellow at the desk said that for the same price, paid through the hotel, i would have had breakfast. i definitely will stay again.

The most outstanding quality was the outstanding breakfast arrangement! It was almost like a page from a royal feast - so abundant, colourful and rich! Magnificant! The rooms were very spacious and clean and I would recommend this B&B to anyone visiting Berlin. However, it's a little further away from the heart of Berlin, but we were ok with catching the trains. The reception lady was very friendly and welcoming. However, the lack of security was a concern for me because when British Airways returned my lost luggage to the hotel, reception never called to confirm its arrival and kept it at reception without storing it. The man at the counter didn't even flinch when I noticed my bag and walked away with it... Anyone could've taken it!

Differentiation between smoking/non smoking areas and smoke free rooms would be appreciated on the booking form, although forthcoming legislation in Germany will address this issue. A charming glimpse of the elegant times in Berlin with regard to the architectural details. Excellent breakfast! Helpful staff.

A parte la camera molto piccola e l'aspetto modesto dell'albergo situato in una normale casa per quanto riguarda pulizia, cortesia e prima colazione non possiamo lamentarci

A very interesting hotel with charm and character. Room was quite large by European standards. Our window looked out onto an open courtyard area. Breakfast was served in a fascinating anteroom. An excellent selection of cereals, breads, yoghurts, cakes and plenty of tea or coffee made for a great start to the day and was included in the price. The surrounding area is not as well serviced with restuarants as you might have hoped but with the U-Banh station of Tiergarten just 120 yards down the street and ony 2 stations away from the well-appointed Zoological gardens area of Berlin you should have plenty of dining choices.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tiergarten Berlin. At first we felt the location was a bit far away from the action. Later we found we LIKED that it was not right in the middle of the tourist action. It's easily accessible to everywhere in the city--the subway's incredibly easy and efficient. The accommodations aren't what I'd call luxurious, but the value is excellent. And the staff we interacted with was top-notch: very helpful and friendly. As many others have mentioned, the Tiergarten's breakfast buffet is tops.
