I have spent 2 nights here while I was travelling for business in Berlin; single rooms are just above the street and are a bit noisy, double rooms are on the opposite side. My room was clean and large enough; I feel to suggest such hotel and I may consider to book again it in the future.

Great hotel, great location, clean, quiet, excellent breakfast, bar service attentive and fun, competent staff in attendance. I recommend to anyone who wants a good time in Berlin. The one drawback is a slight smell of cigarettes in the room but nothing to upset others.

More expensive than I normally use but the cheapest available over Marathon weekend. For a large 'high quality' hotel, services was very friendly and helpful. Well located for start of Marathon. Poignantly located on Eichman's office site.

The price for the breakfest compared with the quality is to high. The seletion of breakfest is very big but I would prefer a smaller selection in a better quality. But you have the possibility not to choose the breakfest.

Very good value for money. The furnishings in the room are a bit old fashioned but in excellent condition. My suite was superb and the view as good as any. Highly recommended unless you are looking for 'design' which, nevertheless, you can find in the lobby-bar area.

Very nice reception staff - very helpful & knowledgable. Single room was a good size for the price and shower/bath had good pressure (always a bonus). Heating system very good. Good location on U2 line that connects directly with Potsdamer Platz. Would definitely recommend for a cheap hotel option.

This hotel is a great hotel, it felt more like a 4 star. The room was nice and well lit, the decor was very suitable even though it was a small room there was enough space. The reception is beautiful and so is the bar. The receptionists were friendly and helpful. The tv in the room had a personalized welcome screen when i checked in. I was able to leave my luggage at the hotel while touring the city. I would definitely recommend this hotel. I wish they would give proper directions to get to the hotel via bus or u bahn because i struggled until i found a lady who told me that bus 100 would drop me off there.

Excellent hotel, very good location, excellent transport facilities very close to the hotel (bus line 100 and underground),staff are very friendly and helpful, breakfast is expensive but very good. We had booked 2 double rooms but on arrival were given 2 business suites for the same price which was really great! We can recommend this hotel to everyone and would definitely come back again.

Good location, bus 100 (linking main Berlin attactions) stop next to the hotel. Rooms (we got single rooms) were small but OK. One negative point: no air conditioning. We did not try the breakfast but went to the bakery with coffee and tables around the corner going left from the hotel as suggested by another review.

This was our first visit in Berlin (the main purpose was the U2 concert). We got an upgrade to a spacious, spotless and air-conditioned suite on the 14th floor. The staff was very kind, helpful and informative. The hotel is located 5 min. walk from the Wittenbergplatz U-bahn station (and the KaDeWe Dept. store), which is 1-stop from the famous Zoo station. Also, being 16-floor tall, this tall building is a well noticeable landmark which facilitates orientation. The only flaw was that the lobby was under renovation, a fact that wasn't mentioned on the hotel web site. Our deal didn't include breakfast. It costs 14 Euro per person, which is strangely very expensive. Many places in the neighborhood serve decent breakfasts at half that price.

Excellent value for money. Locationwise, it is not walking distance from main sights (but bus 100 stops right outside). If you like to eat late, it is hard to find anything open after 10:30.

Hi,travelers. This was my first time in Berlin. Its an interesting city with lots of thinks to see and do. Sylter hof hotel left nothing to be desired as almost everything was what i expected to be in accordance to the price. The room was clean and quiet with a nice view.Breakfast is the highlight. It costs 10 euros more per day(i stayed 3 nights) but its worth it,the ladies at the service are very polite too.The reception was very good and helpful when needed(they even provided me with materials i needed for packaging) and the check in is fast! The location of the building is excellent, there is u-bahn metro station nearby and is close to most sightseings. The only thing that i didnt like is that you have to pay for a single bottle of water. When you travel(especially from a bit far away) and finally reach your destination it is at least polite to find a bottle of water waiting for you in your room..(without having to check if your thirst will cost you additionaly a couple of euros). I would definately recomend it.If i visit Berlin again this hotel will be my choice.

We were very disappointed with this hotel, in the end we went across the street to the Holiday Inn Express, for better service, great breakfast included in the price of the double room, which was cheaper in any case than the Sylter Hof. We recommend staying at the Holiday Inn Express (Kurfurstenstr. 78) if you like the area but want a better hotel than the Sylter Hof, with its unfriendly staff, expensive breakfast & Internet connection, and poor service.

I was lucky to get a twin room for the price of a single room (average of 48 Euros per night for 5 nights). Close to ZOO Bahnhof (15 minutes on foot). Close to the main attractions in West Berlin. Close to the hot gay scene. I'll definitely go back if the prices stay the same!

This was a very clean, bright, spacious room on the 5th floor. The price for the room advertised in the room itself was 202 Euros per night and we paid 166 Euros in total for 3 nights - what a fabulous price. Breakfast was an extra 14 Euros which we didn't take - too expensive for breakfast! This hotel would suit business people as well as people on city breaks. I cannot recommend it highly enough. We would definitely go back.

It was the first time for us (young couple) in Berin and in this hotel. We are so happy to stay there. The hotel is very clean and well located. The room was very nice and big. The employees (very nice) speak english very fluently- The metro stop is so near to the hotel- Every afternoon we come back to the hotel after a long day in berlin we find a room so clean and a little pouch of candies (haribo)on our pillow. It was so nice and original! We'll surely come back to this hotel in the future (if we never come back to berlin, a wonderfull big big city!!). Best Regards, Valeria e Michele- Italy

Single room is quite small, i dont know about double rooms. courtains are short so when it is dark in the room you can see the lights from the sides. considering that i can sleep only in dark rooms that was not so good for me. the furniture in the room are old but the room is quite clean. Internet is available wireless, very expensive (17 euro for 24 hours) and not included in the room price. please consider it when you compare prices with other hotels that offer it for free. the location is very convenient, you have the bus stop in front of the hotel and the touristic two floors bus #100 will take you straight to ALL the monuments in Berlin.with a 6 euro ticket you can go in and out of the bus as many times as you like in 24 hours. super!

I'm from Vienna and I was in berlin for one weekend. I got an upgrade for my room to a comfort-suite with kitchen in it (2 rooms). The price-quality comparison was great. I paid 30 Euros per night without breakfast. This is the only negative point, the breakfast costs 18 Euros a day per person. But around the hotel, there are some Starbucks or other coffee-shops. All in all the hotel was a good choice and I will stay there again.

Consigliatissimo!

I stayed in Berlin for holidays, 5 days. The hotel is in a very good location, near to the bus #100 stop that can be used to reach the most important turistic attractions and the city center and you can reach the undergrond in only 5 minutes by walking. On arrival, I got a very spacious, very clean room. It was also closer to the Bahnhof Zoo than I thought (it would be great if the location map on the Venere page was zoomed out a bit to show that). Only two negatives, but neither one is too serious - (1) breakfast is expensive, an additional 14 Euro/meal; (2) the wireless connection in the room is not free (it's through swisscom).

The Sylter Hof is very conveniently situated near the K'dam in West Berlin -on bus line#2.(The nearest U-bahn station is Wittenbergplatz ,which it would have been useful to mention in the directions how to find the hotel). One problem: no internet.I had to go all the way down to Zoo station to find an internet cafe. Our amazingly spacious "Junior Suite" was sheer luxury; just a pity we didn't have more time to relax in it, simply because Berlin is such an exciting and fascinating city! Despite the hotel's location on a main artery into the city centre, our windows looked out on a quiet garden at the back - all I heard in the night was some wonderful birdsong (nightingale?). The hotel exceeded our expectations and was excellent value compared with other capital cities. We didn't eat there - breakfast was too copious and correspondingly expensive, but there are simple breakfast opportunities close by.

The hotel is in a good position about half a Kilometre from Wittenberg-Platz 'Underground' station on the Ku'Damm main shopping street and about 1 Km from Zoologischer Garten for surface trains connecting directly to Schonefeld airport. Stayed at the hotel -pronounced zoolterhof i think, for 5 days in january, we had an excellent break and would certainly go back again Hotel was surprisingly easy to get to from schonfeld, the re7 expreess train to the zoo bahnhof and then the bus 100 , 3rd stop and you are right outside the hotel, all for 2.10 We were made to feel very welcolme on arrival, I was a little embarressed as we couldnt speak german, but as everyone spoke english we were ok room was on 5th floor, was clean and bright, once i,d sussed out the heating we were ok location excellent , bus 100 stopped outside and we used the u bahn quite a bit as well ,which was just round the corner at wittenbergplatz 5 mins walk we ate out as i was told on previous reviews that breaky was expensive , we used a take out/cafe just round the corner and also the food stall at the ubahn- the latter being excelent for evening meals we found a great local restaurant called the berlinerchen (i think)which was great the hotel is well situated for the kudamm and shops and fot the culture buffs the bus 100 takes you eveywhere. will be returning to run the berlin marathon in sept and will be staying at the stylerhof again

We went to Europe and stayed in 3 hotels, this is so far the most impressive for the price we paid for. The staff were exceptionally polite and not hostile or direct unlike the other two we stayed in in other parts of Europe during the same trip. We did not take the breakfast as it was not included in our room rate, but we were ok with eating affordably at a bakery shop opposite KeDaWe. The bathroom is clean and spacious, unlike those we had to move about carefully to avoid knocks. A small token of chocolate or gums was usually left on our pillows, good gesture. One of the bottles in the fridge was opened by the previous guest and we accidentally knocked it opened and over the carpet, the hotel staff apologised profusely and offered a new bottle without charging us for the one we did not drink. The lobby was smoky but it was alright, didnt affect us at all since we did not loiter there for long. They have a good information board where you can collect tourist attraction cards to tell you places to visit in Berlin. We took the cards and visited most of the places when time permitted. The hotel is quite far away from the bahn station, if you carry heavy luggage you may want to consider taking bus 100 instead. Otherwise, we were quite comfortable taking a stroll to the main street. If you need to locate the hotel when you are at the station outside KeDaWe, when you stand on the side of KeDaWe facing the main road you just look up and you can spot the illuminated name of the hotel up in the sky, just walk towards it diagonally. We could do quite a bit of shopping since the hotel is within walking distance to the main street, I think it was a slow 15 mins walk, ok for young couples. I will definitely recommend staying in this hotel, value for money for sure, easy to move around, especially good for budget conscious travellers if you want a comfortable stay but dont want to overspend on beds and cannot afford expensive hotels.

Small room, but clean. Overall impression of room and hotel: "old", although bathroom was new. Big key, heavy old carpets, etc. Breakfast was excellent. 16 types of bread (!) with plenty to go with it. A little noisy (from outside street and snooring neighbour). Ok reception and bar. Professional and friendly staff.

Very well located. Just a few blocks from the subway station (although, on the map provided on the website, the nearest station _ Wintenberg Platz _ is not informed, which can bring some difficulties to find the hotel, on the first time). If is also perfectly possible go on foot to some of Berlin main attractions like Brandenburger Tor, Reichtag, CheckPoint Charlie and the Siegessaule. Staff was friendly and helpfull. Rooms were not so spacious but were clean and comfortable (the carpet is a little bit thick, what can bring some discomfort to allergic people). Bathrooms were ok. Good breakfast. It was allowed to smoke on the lobby and, thus, it has a permanent smell of smoke (they have good non-smoking-rooms, but the lobby's environment brings some discomfort).

This is a terrific hotel for the price. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It is a big city so you need to take the underground to the key sights. The station was only a few blocks away. There are plenty of good restaurants in the area. If you are looking to economize, I'd recommend skipping the hotel breakfast and the hotel Internet and using the Internet cafe that is only two streets away.

Very nice hotel, courteous staff. on arrival, they offered us a business suite at the same price, instead of the junior we booked. the room was huge and well furnished and had a wonderful sight of the city (12th floor). definitely recommended.

Buona locazione, personale cortese. La foto indicata nel sito non corrisponde alla camera a noi assegnata. Forse si riferiva a camera ristrutturata recentemente. La camera era comunque pulita, ma non dello stesso livello della fotografia.

Astonished that they did not accept international cash cards (my credit card was unfortunally temporary out of order). Very small room but in a wonderfull position to visite the center of Berlin or to take bus and underground to everywhere

We arrived to a friendly, helpful welcome. Tho public areas are a bit stuffy (smoky bar area), bedrooms are v good. Location away from main tourist sites (good for us - away from the over-priced tourist-trap restaurants) but X100 bus stop is outside - this takes you to most of the must-see sites (day-tickets at reception). Super breakfasts. Only negative - no air-con (excellent, ie quiet fan tho). Will return to Berlin (too much to see in 3 days), to this hotel.

Location of the hotel was excellent there were a number of touristic sites, resturants and shops near by. The rooms were very spacious and the staff were very helpful. It was not obvious until after booking the room that breakfast was not included in the price of the room and there was no air conditonting in the room.

I enjoyed very much staying at Hotel Sylter Hof Berlin. People at reception were very kind and helpful. Hotel is located in a pleasant location. There is plenty of means of transportation one can use. From Tegel Airport one takes the bus line X9, which ends in front of the Zoologischer Garten. Stepping out of this bus, one just crosses the street and takes Bus line 100. Inside the bus there is a digital display that informs the next stop. One just waits until “Schillstrasse” is displayed and then asks the driver to stop by pressing a stop button. The bus stops in front of the Hotel (Schillstrasse is the third stop from Zoologischer Garten). One can buy a ticket at the Airport, valid for both buses (in August, 2007 it costed 2.10 Euros) or buy it from the Driver. In August, 2007, there was a Bus 100 passing about every five minutes. About three blocks from the Hotel, at Wittenberg Metro Station, one can take a metro and go to many places in Berlin very easily. At this station I bought a tourist pass for 19.90 euros – a three days pass that allowed me to take buses, trams and metro at will for three days with no extra charge. The pass comes with a booklet showing many tourist attractions, and discount coupons for these attractions. There are many restaurants near Sylter Hof. One can access Internet at the Hotel using Swisscom service and paying by credit card. It is a little bit expensive but worth it if one needs a secure access and needs printing as well. Two blocks from the hotel one finds an Internet Café where one pays 1.50 euros per hour. The access is rapid and the people there is helpful. If you want to go shopping, do not miss a visit to KaDeWe, which is very near Wittenberg Metro Station. It is a huge department store. If you are a fun of movies, do not miss visiting Sony Center and its Imax 3D movies. It is a very worthy experience. Sony Center is at Posterdam Platz. You can go there easily taking U2 metro at Wittenberg Station. Just in front Sy

We stayed in a small room on the top floor with a view over the treetops. It was quiet, comfortable and had all the facilities we needed. It was good to have two chairs in the room so that one did not have to resort to lying on the bed. The breakfast room was spotlessly clean, the buffet was superb and the staff very welcoming and helpful. The staff at reception were also very helpful. We found the location of the hotel very convenient for access to two nearby restaurants and the U-bahn.

I chose this hotel for the large feedback it had received, being new to Berlin. My only gripe would be that the rooms get hot in the summer, so get yourself a cheap fan if you like cool rooms as I do. They do make up for this with a mini bar though Bang ON! Where are you going to find one of those in a budget hotel? The rooms were spotless. It's not worth the rack rate of 139 Euros but what hotel ever is. First rule of travel, never pay the rack rate! Venere offered the best deal on this hotel. It's very well located in a major shopping area with a great vibe and only 5 blocks from the main Zoo station, I hate walking long distances and it was a doddle for me.The coffee shop next door has a great range of breakfasts and snacks and the staff are witty as well. All in all believe the reviews, this is the place to stay, and I will again.

This hotel is in a pretty good location. The price is very reasonable. This is the best hotel and the cheapest one we stayed during out trip in Germany, Switzerland, Italy and France. I would highly recommend this hotel to all budget travellers.

We originally booked a double room but when we arrived we were upgraded to an appartment. Hotel is in a great location to see all of Berlin. Bus 100 (stop 15 metres away) takes you almost everywhere you need to go. Staff were excellent. Would definately stay there again!

Hotel Sylter Hof Berlin is a cosy hotel. What we missed was information about restaurant in the hotel and not only info about a coffee shop nearby. We had breakfast in the hotel and that was very good. An indian retaurant nearby was good.

Great hotel! Convenient to public transport. Clean rooms, friendly, english-speaking staff. Grocery store across the street if you need breakfast or water bottles (we did not eat breakfast at the hotel). Beds were very comfortable. Good price, and we would stay here again. I only gave a 7 for "Public Areas" because of the smoking, but I guess that is normal in German hotels! Make sure you request a non-smoking room if that is what you prefer.

We arrived very late and were received by the night receptionist in a very agreeable and professional way. The guests seemed to be of all ages and everyone we met, guests as well as employees, were polite and pleasant. Situated near public transport as well as a variety of restaurants and shops, the hotel is an excellent basis for a stay in Berlin.

The hotel is really well situated. The rooms are little (I had a single bed) but well cleaned and comfortable. The breakfast, quite expensive if compared to the cost of the room, is really good and the employees are kind and multiethnical. In a 15 minutes walk you can be in Potsdamer Platz; in 45 minutes you are in Pariser Platz and Ku'strasse is a really live road, all day long!

From the initial welcoming right up to our departure the quality of service was really what made the Hotel. A smiling faced Elisabeth always seemed to be there to personally greet us with our key, provide us with a map or the location of the nearest Leckerback. The Hotel in general is clean and well cared for, The rooms were no exception. There are plenty of good places to eat or drink nearby. It is also a relatively close walk to the Zoo station. Value for money and the excellent service makes Sylter Hof a must stay for Berlin.

It’s very easy to find the hotel because of its location, near the Zoologischer Garten, where you can find S-Ban, U-Ban and Bus stops. The employees were very helpful and kind. We stayed in a double room and it was very clean and spacious, and the bathroom too. At least I have to say that making the reservation with Venere.com (a month before the stay) we saved almost a 50%.We’re very glad about our stay in the Sylter Hof Hotel.

It is perfect when you do not need to spend too much and to be within 15mn from the heart of Berlin. The rooms are clean but the hotel is mainly sad. You can be disappointed if you come for a romantic stay. Double rooms are rooms with two joined beds which may be uncomfortable for couples.
