Great quality for (such a low) price (I paid btw 40 and 50E) for a single room in such a location (very close to Zoo Garden, 2 minutes from metro, 5-7 minutes from S-Bahn). The room was very spiacious, in an internal court. The toilet was brand new and very very clean, inclusive of hairdryer. However: - the room's moquette was old and a bit smelly, not the kind of place where I like to walk barefooted; - there are no shampoos etc, just soap; - there is no room fridge, you need to walk down to the "hall" (corridor) where there is a vending machine. Overall: given the low price I was afraid of the quality of the place, instead in the end I will definitely go back. The room is large, so ok for longer stays, but the moquette's smell and overall the old furniture is ok for mid-level travellers but not for those looking for more comfort.

Our room windows looked at the street that was a bit noisy, especially in the morning. So it is better to ask for inside rooms

Ideally located near the Ku'Damm. Metro and bus station are very closed and with the X9 bus it takes only 15 minutes to go to Tegel airport. Free bycicle for guests ( really useful to visit Berlin ). The hotel is at walking distance from the Zoo and from the main shopping areas. In a quiet place. If not included the breakfast costs 15euros. There are some nice cafeterias very close to the hotel.

Hotel Gates is excellent. I was especially impressed by the bathroom. 1. very clean, 2. very spacious, 3. with big window for ventilation and light. 4. attention to detail: tissues available, disposable plastic bags, soap and shower gel in dispensers. Shower was very spacious. We had a very quiet room with the balcony. On the balcony we had table and chairs and the balcony floor was covered with decking. Breakfast was excellent offering big choice of both hot and cold dishes. I will highly recommend this hotel in particular for someone who intended to go to the opera as it is very close to the Deutsche Opera. X9 bus offers a very easy transfer to Tegel Airport. It so punctual and close to the hotel that there is no need to wait for the taxi. On the surrounding streets the choice of restaurants is exceptional. The nearest metro station to the hotel is: Ernst-Reuter-Platz on line U2. The station is less than 5 minutes walk from the hotel and is a very good link to all sites in Berlin without necessity to change. Metro runs 24 hours during weekend so fabulous even for late travellers. It is very safe even for women on their own.

The hotel is well situated within walking distance of restaurants and cafes. There is a baker's a few metres away which provides good coffee and fresh rolls. The location is very good as the underground is close by. I loved Berlin as a city and would definitely go back.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise and lived up to its reviews. The room I stayed in was clean and comfortable and I enjoyed the local artwork in my room and throughout the hotel hallways. The people at the front desk were helpful and went out of their way to orient me to the city, transit, asked if I wanted something to read, etc. The bed was a bit hard, but otherwise, it was very comfortable and peaceful accommodation. The computer in the room with free internet was nice to have. It was located very close to airport transport to Tegel and the metro.

Prices for breakfast quotation is outdated on your web page. Prices are too high, although breakfast is good. We had to move to another hotel because of water damage to our room. The substitute was better. But we had already delivered our luggage and had to move in the evening when we had a meeting, akward. Only rooms to the back are quiet. They had buildings work during our stay and this was not announced beforehand. One of the older male receptionists was disrespectful and arrogant, the others very nice. Without these deficits good.

Our only objection to this hotel is that it was not made sufficiently clear on the web page, or by the reception staff, that breakfast was not included in the price. Adding €12.50 per person per night meant going from what looked like a favourable price to a not so favourable price (but ok in a big city context). There are less pricey breakfast restaurants in the immediate vicinity. (Breakfast was good, though.) Apart from that drawback, this is a very convenient place to stay for a visitor who arrives by air to Berlin Tegel. There are cheap, frequent buses that take you from the airport to within 200 metres from the hotel in about 15 miunutes. The hotel is about ten minutes' walk from Kurfürstendamm or Kaiser Wilhelms Gedächtniskirche or Deutsche Oper, and there are bus and underground facilities nearby. All rooms are equipped with a pc with free internet access and a refrigerated minibar.

This hotel is a great example of offering a limited number of services, but doing what is offered exceptionally well. Clean, crisp, friendly, and the complimentary PC with high speed internet access in each room means one less bag to carry on the plane.

I choose this hotel because it was 1. Near the Berlin Cenventtion Centre - 5 stops away(which I need to be present). 2. Near the U-bahn station - 2 mins walk 3. Not far from Tegel Airport - 10 mins taxi 3. Free internet 4. Recomended in a travel guide I borrowed from my library. What I experienced : 1. All of the above are true. 2.The breakfast was great, good spread but I was hoping for some smoked mackeral with spices on it(eaten in Frankfurt, and loved it)However I found on my last day at a Sunday Market at Wilmersdorfer Station. Your staff at in the breakfast room were all very polite. 3. The "do not disturb door" sign was fully respected. (some other hotel's chamber lady will still enter!) 4. The chamber lady I met most morning was the warmest staff I encounter, always greets me with a sincere smile. (I can't speak German, except Gooten Morgen!) 5. The lift was very small, just to let others aware of it, cos I understand its not an easy thing to solve. 6. The front staff were professional but not as warm or helpful as those mentioned above, which differ from reviews. I carry 2 suitcases and had to struggle to go into and out of the hotel's main door without someone holding it.(Somehow the closes on me before I could get out fully.) You will agree with me that 1st impression really matters. 7. All said, I enjoyed my stay and will stay here again next year, same month. Thank you for reading.

Very pleasant hotel with good facilities (I particualrly appreciated the free internet access in the room). It's a pleasant area with good restaurants - it would be useful if the hotel staff were able to give more advice on these.

Situated on a very nice street with good public transport access and a very pleasant walk down to the Kudamm. Breakfast not included in the price (it's a decent buffet for 12 euros). Buses to Tegel airport leave from around the corner regularly and it only takes 15 minutes. Internet access is excellent.

The hotel was in a quiet location just off the main shopping area, close to public transport, taxi rank and just a short walk from where the tour buses departed. The standard of the hotel was excellent the only downside from our point of view was that there was no tea/coffee facilities available in your room. If we went to Berlin again we would certainly stay at this hotel.

Pleasant and comfortable hotel with friendly, attentive and very polite staff. The hotel comprises of two buildings, one facing the street, one behind, with a central coutyard (lawn and small terrace) in between. My room faced the couryard and was very quit. The hotel appears to be recently renovated which in this case means more than just the casual overhaul: Spotless room with excellent bed, new bathoom (powershower, no bath) and still a faint smell of fresh paint in the corridors. Convenient location just 200 meters from the Ernst Reuterplatz subway station (one stop to Zoo station on the U2 subway line) Excellent breakfast buffet. Acer notebook with Internet connection in the room at no additional charge. Minibar available. Coffee bars, restaurants and shops next to the hotel in a pleasant yet quit street. 20 minutes walking distance to the Ku'damm itself, 10 minutes to Zoo station.

We enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The reduction when booking through venere.com is substantial. We were only surprised to find on our bill €160 for our 4 breakfasts during our stay (4 nights) whereas the employee at the reception told us that we had breakfast included!

Since the location is in west Berlin, it is not optimal, however, the nearby underground and bus (2 mintues walk), provide an easy access to every location in town. Also the neighborhood is nice and welcoming. The breakfast is superb (yet too expensive), but a more budget (and whealthy..), and nicer alternative is in the Cafe just neighboring the hotel - Cafe Balzak, whose atmosphere is great, and whose cafe, cakes and sandwitches selection, are very tasty. Although we are not internet addicts, the internet was very useful in Berlin, a town so full of museums, special exhibitions, attractions, concerts - where updated information is presented in many web sited.

The hotel rooms are well appointed with everything that you would need for a comfortable stay in berlin. The staff were very friendly and helpful- they provided maps, suggested restaurants aswell as providing an unlimited travel card , for a small fee. the breakfast buffet was fresh and extensive in array. Overall we were very impressed by the facilities (including a computer with free internet connection in our room!) and the service.
