This hotel is located in an area with not much happening and if you are looking for a fresh and clean hotel don't book this one. If you're looking for a budget hotel that is not very central, this might be something for you. The staff where very nice.

If it wasn't for the friendly reception- personnel I would have left the hotel the day of arrival for its terrible shape. Except for the room and the closest reception area nothing was really clean upon arrival. During my five days stay the room has not been once visibly cleaned. Only beds had been arranged, the shabby towels changed. Under the bed and in other hidden areas of the room dirt and dust piled up. The outside of the windowsill was full of cigearette waste and ash. The hotel sourrounding is deserted but-and that was a great plus-quiet. The only fruits I had touched at my one time trial of breakfast, were half rotten, the table clothes have not been changed during my stay. The hotel has a great potential in cleanliness and quality. Sorry, but for the room charge of 49 Euro I could have done much better in another hotel in Berlin.

I was there with my family; three kids of 18,22,24. We liked the stay in Fortuna. Close to Prenzlauer Berg with good restaurants, Kulurbrauerei with good movies.Quiet en nice hotel above a billard-hall,that gives no noise. Good breakfast. We had a good stay.

The bed ands bathroom were dirty like they haven`t been cleaned. I didn`t feel "at home". I won`t use this hotel again! 60€ is pretty much for a dirty hotel-room and a bathroom you don`t wanna use!

My husband and I were looking for a small, simple hotel for a 2-night stay and this hotel, listed as a "3-star" hotel, seemed to fit the bill. Boy, were we disappointed. It felt more like a hostel or a converted prison with cold concrete floors and walls, and the smoky pool hall on the 2nd floor didn't help either. Check in went smoothly, except that we found out that the "free parking" listed online only applied to street parking and parking in the hotel lot actually cost 5 euros/day. On the way to our room on the top floor, we noticed that the stairwell was strewn with dead flies and other bugs and the carpets were filthy. Our room was quiet but cramped and uncomfortable. Though not filthy, to say it was clean would be pushing it. The impossibly tiny shower in the bathroom leaked even when the water was turned off. And due to the warm weather and lack of A/C, our room was sweltering by the time we returned each night. The daily breakfast served from 8-10am was fine for early risers but those who arrived closer to 10am were lucky to get a stale roll and a slice of cheese. The dining area was dirty with stained tablecloths and crumbs all over the table and chairs. The staff seemed more interested in chatting with each other than taking care of their guests. Truly annoying! Finally, we'd like to point out that the hotel amenities listed on the website are very misleading. The "free parking" was one example, but here are a few others we discovered: the front desk was not open 24 hrs (only from 8-5pm); city maps were not available (only a subway map); there is no restaurant or shop in the hotel; and as there are no elevators or ramps, it's hard to see how the hotel can claim access for the disabled. The bottom line is that we do not recommend this hotel and we will never stay there again.

1st we were not in the hotel that we booked. There was a "2nd location" that they just opened, "not very far". Well... it was really far from the first one but it was actually better located. It was not the same hotel and not the same standard. I would rate it at about 1 star (clean, nice and quiet, but 1 star, not 3). There was a problem with the soap (missing) after the first day. It was not cool walking 12h in Berlin and not be able to take a decent shower after... The breakfast was great and it's what kept us for the 3 nights. If not... we would have searched another hotel after the seccond night.

If you are looking for a cheap place to stay in Berlin, you are better off at a hostel than here. In fact, it is a lot like a hostel, no pillow, no sheets on the bed. My first problem was finding the location - I emailed the hotel several times asking for directions from the train station and no one ever replied. Luckily the Berlin pub transport has a good website that allows you to type in addresses. Even then, i got lost walking from the nearest bus stop and had to ask for directions. The area around the hotel is deserted and very dark at night. I felt uncomfortable returning late at night, even having been in other parts of the city I felt fine about. The hotel is above a biker bar, which wasn't too much of a problem really. The breakfast was ok, the room as fairly clean. However, you only have about 1 minute of hot water, which is terrible. The staff/owners aren't very friendly, and when I checked out, she couldn't even give me ten euro in change, I ended up with two euros worth of .05, .02 and.01 change. It is also a bit far from the main attractions and you have to change trains/trams/buses more than once. There are far better places to stay.

Albergo situato in una zona tranquilla e ben servito dai mezzi pubblici (tram) - sopra la reception c'è una sala biliardo ma, dalle camere non si sente quasi nulla - purtroppo per accedere alle camere (che sono al 3° piano) non c'è un ascensore e il corridoio è un pò stretto - comunque complessivamente la struttura e la zona sono più che buone e 3/4 del personale parla un pò di italiano (il che non è male per chiedere informazioni).

The Hotel FORTUNA is very simple and suitable for traveller not too much particular. It doesn't have a lift and the owners are very kind.

One big drawback: they don't take credit cards! Otherwise, clean, spacious rooms, great breakfast, and nice staff. A bit far from downtown but close too various tramway lines.

I think the location was a little misleading. It said 10 minutes from the Alexanderplatz. In fact it took us 20 minutes to get to the Alexanderplatz by tram. They should specify walking v public transport times.

The hotel is new, but very nice and clean, a bit out of the way for downtown, but the tram is around the corner. the owner was/is very friendly and helpful in telling what is nice to see and all, breakfast was/is ok. i had a good sleeping place in berlin, would go back without a doubt when back in berlin.
