This hotel is ideally located. You can walk south and your in the lively Kreuzberg neighborhood. A few blocks north is Checkpoint Charlie and a rather crowded tourist area. There are many good restaurants in every direction. Berlin's main drag is an easy walk north of the hotel. There is also a U bahn stop one block from the hotel. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Berlin, especially for someone staying for a while.

I would never recommend this hotel to anybody!!! The staffs in special the portiere (long man with a strange beard) was very unfriendly, discourteous and disrespectful!!!!!!! Instead of finding solutions for the client they discussed absurd things. I never had experiences like this by booking my hotel via Venere!!!!

Excellent hotel, good value for money, very well centrally located between Checkpoint Charlie and the amazing Jewish Museum, a deeply evocative masterpiece of metaphoric modern architecture not to be missed. Reception friendly, quick and efficient. Rooms spacious, fine if uninspiring, could do with a few more bathroom accessories (moisturiser etc.). Breakfast buffet not cheap at 16 Euros, but truly first class, great variety, with fresh fruits, range of cereals, eggs, sausages, bacon, creamy mushrooms, cold platters, breads and pastries, big pots of hot coffee on the tables, and a superb choice of quality teas. One thing that could disturb some people was a teenage party in the function room on Saturday night, which could be heard late in the bedrooms, but personally that does not disturb me at all at the weekend, and it was announced clearly in advance with notices. Overall highly recommended.

We arrived late night on a Sunday and got a nice quiet room on the first floor. The biggest problem was finding some thing okay to eat at this late hour near by the hotel. We ended up having a horrible pizza just down the road (not the hotels fault though). We checked out the next day after a good night sleep and found - as expected - that the hotel was very centrally located and gave good access to public transportation and sights of interest in Berlin's Mitte area.

Good location for visiting part of the city (brandeburg tor, reichstag and Alexanderplatz is more or less 25 min by walking). Hovewer the hotel area becomes desert after 7:00pm. As an excellent aspect, the metro is just out of the hotel. The silence of the room was broken in the night by constant engine noise (as air conditioned, but it was off!). Nice hotel in a location near many of the historical sites. Great breakfast and the front desk staff was pleasant and easy to deal with. The hotel is located a few steps away from Check Point Charlie, and just in front a metro station. The rooms are clean, quite and very comfortable. We did not try breakfast at the hotel, but there are a lot of coffee shops in the surroundings where you can have breakfast, lunch or even dinner at all prices. When you arrive by train, if you do not want to walk about 2km or even more with you suitcase, I suggest that in Friedrich Train Station you take the subway straight to Koch Strasse station, is just a few stops away and it leaves you just in front the hotel. The pictures in the web page must be from an outsider room, as we get a room which views to a inner yard. But the space and cleanliness are real.

The hotel was okay, but not easy to find, because of the strange numbering of the street (starting at one end and going down all the way ON THE SAME SIDE OF THE STREET, then back again on the other side: the hotel has number 31, the house in front number 219...); I booked the deluxe rate, because the homepage of the hotel stated that use of internet and sauna were included in it, but when I got there, I was told this was not true, as I had booked the room at a promotion rate: unfortunately, this wasn't at all evident from the booking... Apart form these minor inconveniences I was quite satisfied: the metro station is practically in front of the hotel, which is convenient; and the room was very quiet, I didn't hear one sound from the other rooms (maybe they weren't occupied, I don't know) or from the street (at least with the windows closed). The breakfast buffet was rich and very tasty. Maybe I should add that the neighbourhood isn't very "posh"... oh, and there was no body lotion in the bathroom (just a minor detail, but something I would expect in a four star hotel and a deluxe room)

Very Comfortable hotel, a stone's throw from Checkpoint Charlie. Excellent transport links (Kochstrasse Stn just outside - Tegel Airport 30 minutes by U-bahn and bus). Great location for sightseeing, not as close as you could be to bars/ restaurants/ nightlife - still easy enough to get to them though. Grazie

The Angleterre is located on a relatively quiet part of Friedrichstrasse right next to a metro station. While the immediate surrounding does not have any good shops or restaurants (just a big police station across the street), one can find both by taking a short walk down Friedrichstr. or by taking the U-bahn. In short, I thought the location was fantastic. The hotel itself is in a charming old building but the rooms that I saw had been completely renovated recently. If you want to spend a bit extra, there are huge suites with beautiful ceilings and hardwood floors. However, I believe you have to ask for them; otherwise, you could end up with a rather plain/generic suite with carpeting and devoid of any European charm. I went for a plain double, which was a bit small but was fine. The bathrooms are especially nice, with marble (or marble-like tiles). If the breakfast is not included in your package, I would suggest that you skip it, as it's not exactly a bargain at €15. The staff was very friendly and helpful; the safe in my room malfunctioned and somebody came by within 2 minutes of my phone call to help me with it. I would definitely stay again at this hotel.

I stayed here during the world cup. Considering how busy the hotel was the staff was extremley helpful with any requests we had and were very helpfull with directions and advice. I stayed in a suite which was very spacious and clean. I don't know how hip of a neighboorhood the hotel is in, but for our stay the location was very close to the world cup fan fest which was great, especially since there was a train stop practically right outside the hotel which made getting around all the better. Would stay here again for sure.

Our stay at Hotel Angleterre was great! The room was spacious and the staff was very helpful. The only draw down was the hike from the S-bahn stop to the hotel. Take the S-bahn to Friedrichstrasse and hop on the U-bahn to Kochstrasse and the hotel is less than 100 meters. Definitely will stay there on my next trip to Berlin.

Hotel had confirmed booking for De Luxe room but when I checked in I was told hotel was full and I had been allocated a Superior room, smaller than a De Luxe. The De Luxe booking was 15 Euros more because the room had a balcony according to the website. The hotel initially tried to blame Venere for an incorrect booking but when I was able to show the confirmation they admitted they had only 4 rooms with a balcony and although my booking had been made in January none of the four were available. The hotel refused to adjust the price offering instead 2 free drinks at the bar. When I said this was unacceptable they eventually offered free breakfasts for my wife and I. I accepted reluctantly as it seemed the only way to gain any compensation for being overcharged for the room. I gained the impression it is not uncommon for the hotel to charge people the De KLuxe room rate and then tell people they have a Superior room as if that was of equivalent or greater value. The reception staff proved less than helpful and other staff at the hotel were unfriendly, to the extent of washing the floors around tables in the breakfast room while breakfast was still being served.

It was not clear from website that hotel had many stereotyped modern rooms and a modern boring restaurant. Our room was great, but we would have been disappointed in the new block. Was never told that price did not include breakfast (14 euros p.p. !) Saw only when looking at bill that I was charged for the same room several different rates depending on day of week (?). When reserving room through Venere was quoted lesser price than eventually charged. I must say though that the front desk tried to make some adjustments (by not charging me for 3 breakfasts after I complained. Bathrooms lacked the usual amenities such as handsoap, (except in fixed container) body lotions, etc.

Your price and confirmation did not make it clear that breakfast is not included. With b/f generally included in European hotel, I assumed your price of EUR105/room to be inclusive of breakfast. Being a small eater, I would have eaten elsewhere for less that the EUR12 charged by the hotel. I only found out when I paid the bill which caused embarrasement. Otherwise, the three of us were happy with the stay and particularly with its location close to shopping, historical sites and restaurants.

The rating could have been even better: the hotel is brandnew and there were still some inconveniences due to the still ongoing construction works. This will probably improve when all the works are done - inside and outside. The location is in Berlin-Mitte just 100 m away from the former "Checkpoint Charly". When business hours are over there are not many activities around, however Galeries Lafayette and Postdamer Platz are in walking distance.
