This was our first time in berlin, we stayed for 6 days. we could'nt have asked for a better hotel for the price paid, room was comfortable with everything we needed, although a few more hangers in the wardrobe would have been better. hotel just across the road from s-bahn station with easy access to the city centre. Many attractions to see in berlin, so our break was just about long enough. Would stay at the abendstern hotel again if i were to return to berlin. Hotel staff friendly & helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good standard hotel at a reasonable price.

Hotel Abendstern is in a perfect location, 50m from the bus stop to the airport, 200m to the S-Bahn train station and close to Schloss Charlottenburg, the KU-Damm and more. However, the rooms are far from being 3-star. Everything is there, but in bad quality. They saved on everything possible, such as on the TV which is smaller than a normal laptop screen. And the breakfast was slightly disappointing compared to other hotels around.

This was my second visit to Berlin - first time to stay at Hotel Abendstern. I was very annoyed when I returned to the hotel on 6 October as the room had not been serviced and cleaned and of course no clean towels. I went to the Reception and reported this and was told there were no clean towels. I accompanied the receptionist to the store room and there were not any clean towels there. She eventually found one bath towel and one smaller hand type towel which was not satisfactory as we were two people. I showed my displeasure about this. About ten minutes later there was a knock on our door and the receptionist had found another clean bath towel. I know that this is not a 5 star establishment but surely bath towels re basics and as this hotel is used by conference people one should reasonably expect that there would be clean towels available in cases where the room has not been serviced.

Hotel ABENDSTERN is excellently situated for total exploration of the city via the railway network, be it over or underground; Charlottenburg station is opposite the hotel, although no noise can be heard.This is the best way to see the city, the trains are efficient, clean, well-monitored and punctual. Buy a weekly pass or day ticket and use the whole network, Berlin Schonefeld airport can also be reached from Charlottenburg (S9 line direct). The Hotel's rooms suffer from a noisy echoey quadrangle at the back, so light sleepers may suffer, however generally it is not bad; the beds are comfortable, and breakfast is okay (although for Germany i would say that the Coffee could be better), also the breakfast room fills up quickly, so during busy periods, get there early. Staff are polite, friendly and helpful; there's plenty of pamphlets and city guides in the foyer. If you have young kids and buggies etc, not recommended - small lifts and large stairs.Round the corner from the hotel are pedestrian precincts full of shops and snack eateries. The best restaurants however are at Savignyplatz which is one stop up the line.

My wife and I were there for 4 nights. The room was quite good and spacious and so was the service ... great value for money in Berlin. The only flip side being the tiny Bathroom in the room. The hotel is also bang opposite the S-bahn station and close to a bus stop thus making public transport and going around Berlin very accessible. But it wasn't at a walking distance from the Messe as I had thought while booking but as the Messe was 2 stops away by the S-Bahn made it accessible. Also, I thought Internet access etc was free in the room but it wasn't.

Good breakfast. Spacious room, satellite TV but no phones. Pension rather than hotel-like. Very well connected with underground, rail and airport Tegel.
