Axel Hotel Berlin - Berlin

Enjoyed the hotel stay overall. Staff very friendly and helpful. The only downside to the stay was that room cleaning was slow to occur. Often the room was not cleaned until 5 or 6 pm.This may be partly because the hotel caters particularly to gay men some of whom may have been partying and would want a much later clean. However, 6pm was stretching it!

There was an odd mix-up with my room when I arrived. My assigned room had been given away to another couple. That was a bit unnerving as it was the other guest who chased me down and brought me a different hotel key and not the hotel staff. Other than that all was fine. For me, the location was great.

The stay was good overall. The rooms were nice but a bit too small. The bathrooms were fashionable but poorly designed .. all the water used to cover the floor while taking a shower making the rest of the bathroom unusable. The staff and service was excellent though.

As with Axel Barcelona this hotel is aimed primarily at the gay market but is friendly to all. I think I got an exceptionally good price as the hotel has only been open a few months and did not seem very full even on the weekend. The rooms (at least the more standard ones) are far nicer than the Barcelona Axel hotel, but not huge and, as in Barcelona, lack space to put or hang much. The shower with its red glass wall is very sexy but could cause a slight embarrassment if someone opened the room door while you were in the shower (maybe not?). On the top floor there is a spa / workout area which unfortunately is long and narrow, very brightly lighted and not to condusive to socializing. The hot tub is very small. Overall a good hotel, with good staff, in a nice neighboorhood close to shopping and gay establishments. Very quiet at the moment as it seems to still be finding its market.

You know how it is searching for a Hotel on the internet and crossing your fingers that you are going to get a decent hotel and room... Well I was extremely pleased with this find. For the price and the quality of the room and hotel, was all top notch! I just had an issue with the website that i booked the hotel through, for some reason the booking didn't go through. I had to sign on my computer and show them the confirmation through my email before the would give me a room.
