The hotel has an excellent situation near the railway station, the airport bus and Bergamo Cittá Alta bus stop. The staff in the hotel was appropriate but no one ever said "buongiorno" or other polite greetings. The breakfast had no fresh vegetables and the coffee was poor!

OK hotel very near the train station and bus line to the airport and the città alta. Loud street music until 11 PM. Adequate breakfast. Decent hotel if you need an overnight in Bergamo. Vox Restaurant up the street is worth a try.

Quite nice, simple hotel. Very good breakfast.Exellent location near the train- and bus station. Quite far from the old city, though. You need a bus to get there, but it goes 25 metres from the hotel. The hotel restaurant was closed (05/11), which didn´t show at the web page.Small minuses:the bathroom lock didn´t work, it took 10 minutes for the shower water to get warm, the phone alarmed at 5 am. I had asked for a quiet room beforehand and they really gave us a room from the inner court side. The room was ok, but quite little. The staff spoke english but wasn´t overwhelmingly friendly. Exellent choise if you stay only one night and continue to some other city. For the weekend it´s better to get a hotel that´s near the old city or Porta Nuova. The surroundings are nicer there.

Clean, quiet hotel, very well situated, near buses, trains and shopping centers. Easy access to the Città Alta by bus A1. Bus to Airport in front. Reported to be a old hotel but completely new inside, comfortable heated rooms, impeccable bathrooms and all round excellent quality for a three star hotel. I will definitely return to the Piemontese when I visit Bergamo again.

The Hotel was easy to find and well situated for access to the main railway station - the main reason for our selection The bedroom was uncluttered, spacious and well decorated. The bathroom was clean with quality fittings and well decorated in a lovely vibrant orange colour.Breakfast was served in a comfortable and homely dining room and the food selection was more than adequate. A good choice of hotel for our first stay in Bergamo

We stayed in double roon on the top, or attic. The best thing about the hotel is its location - just opposite the station with the bus stop to upper Bergamo. Very convenient in every way. The walls are a little thin and the couple next door could be easily heard until late at night (or maybe the TV). There's no hot water during the day - only morning and late evenings. Apart from these, all my other appreciations are positive, clean, adequate breakfast, efficient service, etc.

This is obviously a choice if you need to be right next to the railway station (and bus contact to the airport) As such, I thought it was really first rate, simple, clean, light and friendly. Of course, there is some compromise with the traffic noise you might expect so near the station, but it wasn't excessive and didn't disturb our sleep. It is a clean, no frills place, with an adequate but not memorable breakfast (coffee was well stewed), but given our needs for easy access to transport networks, we were very pleased, and would certainly stay in this hotel again

Ours was a one night stopover and the advantage of this hotel is it's proximity to the railway station and airport bus stop. What struck me in particular was the argument the staff seemed to be having as we arrived in the reception, which was not curtailed by our presence and the poor breakfast which contrasted sharply with our stays in other hotels in Italy, notably the Airport Hotel at Bergamo and another 3* hotel at Sirmione. The public areas and the decor were particularly drab and uninteresting.

Pretty decent rooms and very comfortable location, right next to the train station. Decent breakfast too. However, I got the worst impression by the receptionist. I booked a double room for my 2 friends. We all got to the hotel in the afternoon, I was gonna fly back home 4 hours later, which I made perfectly understandable to the receptionist by asking a lot of information about how to go to the airport. I asked her if I could put my luggage in my friend's room, while we would wander around in the city, and she strictly told me no, because she thought we all 3 wanted to use a room for 2. She suggested that I should use the luggage room. The luggage room was an unlocked and totally unprotected area. I was very hesitant to leave my luggage there, so I went back and asked her a bunch of questions, as to how safe it would be to leave my bags in there. She confirmed that not only they don't check who's entering the luggage room, or what bags one is taking with him, but also that they have absolutely no control or monitor who's entering the building at all (the reception area is not in front of the door, you can go anywhere in the building bypassing it). At that point she was more than happy to point out to me that that's why there is a sign in the luggage room, reading 'the hotel holds no responsibility for any luggage kept in here'. I asked her again if I could use my friend's room just to leave the bags for 4 hours, and to no surprise she was as unhelpful as she could be by denying again. I went upstairs to check with my friends and see their room, and within 2 minutes we received a call from the receptionist warning us that I can't stay in there. I found that extremely rude of her, and I've never heard before that no visitors are allowed to enter a room! Also, when my friends came down after 15' to go out and visit the city, their passports had not yet been processed, because the receptionist was playing with a baby girl of a friend of hers.Cute, but unprofessional.

We stayed two days at Piemontese. We liked the location a lot because we were travelling by train during the stay (to Milano, less than one hour away). So we could be in Milano during the days and in Bergamo during the evenings which was super. Bergamo is a very nice city, a lot cosier than Milano. There is a bus from the train station to the funicular which is very conveniant. Like the place and the hotel a lot.

We stayed in a room on the first floor facing the main street, which was really noisy. The room was nice otherwise. We needed to go to Bergamo airport early in the morning, the public bus schedule was published at the reception which was helpful. The bus stops right across the hotel, it was not worth taking a taxi. We had a great pizza in the restaurant next door.

Very well placed hotel, right on the Station Piazza. The hotel is pleasant, the room was good, the bathroom was not the squeakey clean place it should have been but .... The television remote didn't work, the window shutter didn't either. Both were pointed out, nothing was done. The staff were pleasant enough. I thought at first it was a bad choice but by the end of my stay I had changed my mind, mostly because of its position. I would return and would recommend it to those who don't want any sort of luxury.

The hotel is just across the road from the main station for onward travel to Milan or the Lakes. The airport bus and the Number 1 to the old town go from the station. However we asked for a quiet room but were given one overlooking a junction where the noise was so bad that the double glazing could not cope. It is the noisiest hotel I have stayed in but a room at the back could be better.

1) Very weak sound damping between the rooms. 2) No proper ventilation in the room owing to switching off conditioneer system in winter time. 3) It's the first hotel where we, to take the towel after shower, have to leave shower room and pass through the room to the toilet room where they located (shower room and toilet are in different corners of the room and in shower roon no place for towel). 4) WiFi internet access do not included into room rate and should be payable additionaly.

We deliberately picked this hotel because it was next to station and ideal for the airport shuttle (easier to stay in Bergamo than get to Milan very late given Ryanair landing time). Our double room overlooked the rush-hour traffic and station entrance, and would have been too noisy etc without the (excellent) double glazing and shutters which were great in Feb but might be unpleasant in summer. Nothing special about the hotel - no character. At first I thought the bedcoverings might not be warm enough, but actually they were. However staff were very efficient and charmingly helpful, indulged me when I tortured their beautiful language, helped me make a phonecall when the mobile wouldn't work, kept the luggage until the evening after checkout (essential!), and not only put in water in the room the bouquet sent by an elderly friend to the hotel but kept it in water on checkout day and helped me prepare it for the journey home. The one disappointment was the absence of tea/coffee facilities in the room. The public restaurant attached to the hotel did good pizza (and was actually recommended by an Italian on the bus). Hotel breakfast was plentiful, though juice was obviously from concentrate. Reasonably priced mini-bar and a free safe. The hotel is perfect for the station and also for the local buses. Get rover ticket at the kiosk in the station and take route 1 to Funicolare, to reach the Alto Borgo by funicular, or stay on bus to Colle Aperto for the higher funicular. Route 1 with an aeroplane sign goes to Orio e Serio. You can get a day rover + one-way to airport. Cheap!

The ease of travel from airport to the hotel on the bus costing E1.65 and taking 15 minutes was ideal. Bus stop is outside the railway station so no difficulty in recognising where to get off. The hotel being right across from the railway station for ease of travel to either Venice, Lake Como or Milan was ideal. The walk to the old city is on the flat and takes about 15 minutes depending on how long you spend taking in the buildings/churches/shops on the way. The cable car is only E1 each way for both sections and must be done. The breakfast is excellent and available times very generous. The reason the room only scored 5 for quietness is not due to the fact that we were looking over the railway station but the antics of the occupants in the bedroom next door until the early hours of the morning! Indeed we were very happy with our view and people watching from the safety of the 4th floor. The restaurant next door is excellent for quality, service, value and convenience. The Tourist Information Centre is also across the road with all the facts and times (bus or railway) you need to know to organise your stay. I would put this trip as the best city break I have had and I have had quite a few. I am recommending it to anyone who has the time to listen Oh yes, the bar wasn't open but as there are plenty in the town no hardship there. Also fridge in room and supermarket round corner so we bought bottles of Spumante at E1.45 and chilled it in the fridge for refreshment whilst we were getting ready to go out in the evening. Also took a travel kettle, cups and latte coffee sachets so we could have a drink before we went down for breakfast. In a nutshell, if you don't enjoy this holiday and hotel you shouldn't travel!

Having stayed at other Bergamo hotels several times, we found the Piemontese to be a good cheaper alternative to many of the others. Rooms were clean; buffet breakfast was good. We would stay here again.

The hotel is located across the street from the train station, and about 10 minutes to the airport by taxi. The staff was very helpful getting us a 04:20 taxi and recommending a couple of authentic restaurants close by. For those less adventureous, there is a McDonalds across the street from the hotel. The hotel is 10 minutes away from a nice walking street, and there are many wonderful coffee shops and bakeries within a few blocks. The rooms were very spacious, clean and quiet. The only thing I did not like was paying 130 Euro for a three star hotel, but Piemontese was still less expensive than other comparable hotels I looked at. As long as Piemontese remains a cost effective hotel to stay at, I would definitely stay there again and highly recommend this hotel to you.

Nice hotel if you're staying for a couple of days. Middle class hotel with middle facilities. But if you're in for a nice breakfast treat, this is not the place to be. Total lack of vegetables, but still some apples. Didn't starve to death though. Super location.

I was satisfied with my stay at Piemontese, because it is settled near bus- and trainstation, the restaurants nearby offered very good food, it was easy to come downtown and to Bergamo alto, people were friendly and helpfull. Only at night the traffic noise was too loud.

The hotel is right across from the main train station. The hotel was clean neatly appointed. We only stayed one night as we were flying the next day and needed to be close to the airport. The taxi was 15 euros from the hotel. There was a bus that would have been cheaper, but did not run early enough. The only complaint is that the A/C was not working and it was nosiy outside the hotel.

Excellent location opposit to railway station ideal for short stays. It takes 10 minutes to get to the old city by bus departing frequently alomost in front of the hotel. Our room was quiet considering the railway station was right opposite. It was clean but a little small, comparable to other 3 star hotels. Bergamo's old city is beautiful, you have to visit it! The only thing I did not particularly like at the hotel that there was no storage room for suitcases after checking out. It was possible to leave the suitcases at the hotel but only in an unclosed open area. Nobody took our suitcases but we were a little nervous about leaving them out in the open

The main advantage is the location: close to the railway station, close to the bus stop to/from Bergamo Airport

We only stayed on a Sunday night before travelling to Bergamo airport. Extremely handy for train and bus station but no traditional restaurants (other than the pizzeria next to the hotel) without going up to the old town. A fairly modern town with little character.

Very practical location near the railway station, but rather noisy. Furniture somewhat "old". OK for one night, but not for a long pleasant stay. Breakfast rather good.

Hotel was clean. Staff were pleasant. Opposite station and long walk from high town. Difficult to find as Bergamo very busy and on one way system. Parking in public car park 100 m or so away and cost 10 euros a day. We stayed in Bergamo as we had early flight next day from airport which was very closeby.

Bergamo is a wonderful city. The hotel is conveniently situated for transport links as well as for visiting the city. We were comfortable in our rooms and ate well at breakfast.

The situation of hotel so close to train station and bus station has been very useful. Besides, you can get to the old part of bergamo in 15 minutes by walk.

The only problem we found with this reservation was the matter that we chose that hotel because the website indicated that it had free car park and this is not true.

We were very impressed with the hotel for the price we paid. Access to public transport links were second to none. Tourist information office opposite the hotel was a bonus. Restaurant attached to the hotel was great with good service and reasonably priced. Hotel staff helpful. Would make a great base for exploring Northern Italy.

We booked a double room, but it had 2 twin beds in it, not a double bed. This was upsetting for my wife and I. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful, but there was no other room available.

The staff were very welcoming, helpful and pleasant, and the service felt professional and efficient. We enjoyed our stay, and the breakfasts! Although the hotel is not in the most picturesque location it is perfect for connecting to the airport, and for day trips to Milan (trains only go once an hour at the weekend so time it right). There were also some great cafés nearby. Bergamo was a lovely place for a long weekend break - we headed towards the parks and the peaceful Carrara Art Gallery (would recommend a visit if this is your thing, it has a great collection on the top floor), and the atmosphere and squares were just as nice to wander around as the old town - although the views from the Citta Alta are great and well worth the walk (or ride) up, as was all the amazing ice cream and food. If you want somewhere different, cheap and offbeat to get some food, visit the cooperative restaurant and bar in Citta Alta (it's listed in the Rough Guide) - we had a good meal and a great time there.

I asked for 2rooms away from the main road in my booking, and thats what I got - good night sleep guaranteed! Superb breakfast. If I should put my finger on anything, a little low waterpressure in the shower :-) Good value for travellers.

I was there one night in August 2007. The hotel was in front of train station so it was perfect for us that arrived by train. Besides, there is the bus stop departure to airport. The room was spacious, very clean, comfortable and the air conditioning worked perfectly. The bathroom was also clean and adequated. The breakfast was OK with a wide range of food. The staff was correct. I don't hesitate to recommend it and I would return to it when I will go back to Bergamo

I flew into Bergamo late at night after midnight and stayed at the Piemontese at Bergamo due to it's location to the station, which was excellent. However I found the rooms really a bit tumble down - it would be rated "no star" in England rather than the three given. However it was clean and the breakfast was above average by Italian standards (which I rate as very low). The shower was excellent. I have stayed in Bergamo before at the best western down the road which was excellent, unlike this one which was poor. WIth hind sight I wished I had braved the post midnight journey to Milan and stayed somewhere decent and cheaper like the Hotel City. I would say in general all station areas in Italy are squalid and attract the worst type of people. Bergamo is no exception to this rule.

This hotel is better than I thought it would be. It is more of a 'businessman's' hotel than a resort, of course, but that is just what we wanted. The location across the street from the train station was great. I wish they had been able to keep our luggage in a locked area after checkout time, but they were able to direct us to the nearby bus station for locked storage and immaculate restrooms while we toured the town more after checking out. Breakfast was very good. The room was quite adequate and the bathroom very nice. A nearby park (behind the bus station) was the only negative: it was scary. No flowers, no upkeep, sketchy people, very different from the other public areas in Bergamo.

Bad quality vs price relationship, too expensive. On the upside, perfect location, in front of the bus-stop to the airport and within walking distance to Bergamo city-centre main area and old town.

I thought this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The Reception area was the only area that had been updated, the rest of the hotel was dull, dark and very depressing. The bathroom facilities in the bedrooms were not unlike public facilities.
